Chapter 19: Killing Three Birds with One Stone

After sending away the people from the five camps, Li Chengfeng rubbed his sore wrists and stretched himself.

The first day on the throne was more tiring than he had imagined!

Just as he was about to go to the Yangxin Palace to sleep, he heard the eunuch's shrill voice outside the door: "Your Majesty, Lord Song requests an audience."

Li Chengfeng was stunned at first, then he smiled bitterly.

It's really not peaceful tonight. Left Xiang has left and returned. I'm afraid...

"Xuan!"

He sat back in his chair and waved to the eunuch to summon Song Zelin to the audience.

"Your Majesty, something terrible has happened. The remonstrant minister Zhang Huaian has found a large amount of gold, silver, and jewelry in the Zhenbei Marquis's mansion. He also found a dragon robe..."

As soon as Song Zelin entered the door, before he saw anyone, a somewhat panicked voice was heard.

Li Chengfeng's face darkened and he stood up suddenly.

I thought the other party was just trying to trip me up, but looking at the situation, is he serious?

"Let's go to the Zhenbei Marquis Mansion!"

Li Chengfeng spoke without hesitation, his tone carrying unquestionable authority.

Now that things have come to this, we can only respond accordingly!

As soon as the group left the palace, Gao Hai was kneeling respectfully on the ground in the dark room of the imperial garden.

"Your Majesty, the Marquis of Zhenbei has been falsely accused of concealing the imperial robe and plotting rebellion. I'm afraid..."

He told the whole story of what had happened in the palace recently, in great detail.

From Li Chenghao's hasty ascension to the throne, to Li Chengfeng's incursion into the imperial capital, right up to the present day, after Li Chengfeng's coronation ceremony, the Great Gan Dynasty was in turmoil...

"Such a big thing, why are you reporting it to me only now?"

Sitting on the dark gold dragon-carved chair, Emperor Jianwu slammed the armrest, stood up suddenly, his face filled with rage.

Any one of the things Gao Hai reported was earth-shattering, but he had waited until now to report it to himself?

"Your Majesty, after the Crown Prince ascended the throne, the Third Prince rebelled shortly afterwards. The situation became chaotic and the search was intense. I..."

"I really cannot see Your Majesty!"

Gao Hai's face changed and he quickly began to explain.

Who would have thought that the usually dissolute Third Prince would be so ruthless.

The palace changed hands one day, and the Zhenbei Army had strict military discipline. Not to mention Eunuch Gao, even a mosquito would find it difficult to sneak in under the layers of patrols!

"Feng'er, are you so talented?"

Emperor Jianwu frowned slightly, his expression puzzled.

Gao Hai has followed him for many years and is loyal to him, so he naturally has no doubts.

However, the fact that his third son, Li Chengfeng, who had always been a playboy, came to power was really beyond his expectations!

"Continue to arrange for the Qianlong Guards to gather information and keep a close eye on them!"

"Let the five battalions hold out for a while. If He Sheng shows any intention of replacing us, he will be killed without mercy!"

...

Although the night was deep, the Zhenbei Marquis’ mansion was brightly lit, as if it were daytime.

He Sheng stood in the yard, glaring angrily at Zhang Huaian in front of him, wishing he could smash his hypocritical face with one punch.

"Master Zhang, we have no hatred in the past, and no grudges in the present. Why do you keep framing me? What are you trying to do?"

He Sheng said this with gritted teeth, his voice sounding like it was squeezed out from between his teeth.

Zhang Huaian, however, was not afraid at all. He smiled contemptuously: "General He, if you don't do anything wrong, you don't have to worry about ghosts knocking on your door. You can figure out what to do yourself. I'm just helping you."

"You!" He Sheng was furious, his fists clenched so hard that they made a creaking sound.

"What? General He, are you trying to silence someone?"

Zhang Huaian looked at He Sheng provocatively, his eyes full of pride, as if he was afraid that the other party would not take action.

With Li Chengfeng's oral decree, if He Sheng dares to act rashly, he will surely die!

"Your Majesty has arrived—"

Just when the two sides were on the verge of fighting, the eunuch's high-pitched voice made both of them stunned.

Li Chengfeng, wearing a dragon robe, walked in quickly, surrounded by a group of guards.

Zhang Huaian's heart skipped a beat. Li Chengfeng came so quickly?

The original plan was to take advantage of the emperor's sleep in the middle of the night to provoke the reckless He Sheng to attack him and confirm the crime of treason.

Unexpectedly...

Li Chengfeng quickly walked up to He Sheng and asked in a deep voice, "What's going on?"

When He Sheng saw his nephew, he quickly knelt on one knee and saluted, "Your Majesty, I am innocent! This... this is all framed by Zhang Huaian!"

Li Chengfeng didn't say anything, but turned to look at Zhang Huaian, his eyes were icy cold, as if he could see through people's hearts.

Zhang Huaian felt uneasy at the look in Li Chengfeng's eyes, but he still forced himself to remain calm, cupping his hands and saying, "Your Majesty, I was ordered to search the Zhenbei Marquis's Mansion. In the storeroom, I discovered a large amount of gold, silver, and jewelry of unknown origin, as well as, and..."

"And what?" Li Chengfeng's tone was cold, with a hint of oppression.

Zhang Huaian took a deep breath and said with gritted teeth: "And this dragon robe!" As he spoke, he took a tray from the guard behind him, on which was placed a golden dragon robe.

"Your Majesty, this dragon robe is finely crafted and made of the finest materials. It is uniquely suited for royal use. Now that it appears in the mansion of the Marquis of Zhenbei, the meaning is self-evident!" Zhang Huaian knelt on the ground and said righteously.

Li Chengfeng looked at him coldly without saying a word.

"Your Majesty, the Marquis of Zhenbei commands a large army, and now he has secretly hidden the dragon robe. He deserves death!"

Zhang Huaian continued to speak, seemingly talking to Li Chengfeng, but in fact he deliberately raised his voice, as if he was afraid that no one around him could hear him clearly.

"Your Majesty, I implore Your Majesty to thoroughly investigate this matter and serve as a warning to others!"

He spoke with tears in his eyes, showing his loyalty to the end!

Li Chengfeng's eyes were calm. He walked forward, picked up the dragon robe, looked at it for a while, and then threw it on the ground.
