Chapter 1

When Bai Ruozhen woke up, it was already dark outside. The room was pitch black, and she couldn't see her hand in front of her face. She wondered which of the maids on duty hadn't done their job properly and hadn't even turned on the light. Bai Ruozhen felt a slight pain in the back of his head. He reached out and touched it, and immediately grimaced in pain, tears almost falling.

"Xiao Li..." Bai Ruozhen called out softly, enduring the pain.

No one responded in the darkness.

Bai Ruozhen was a little afraid of the dark. He wanted to light a lamp, but his head was aching so much that he didn't want to move. He called out again, but no one answered. Bai Ruozhen started crying softly, "Your Majesty... Where are you? Why haven't you come yet?"

Unfortunately, after crying for a while, no one responded, so Bai Ruozhen stopped crying. She was exhausted and it was boring without anyone to support her. Besides, her mother had taught her since she was a child that meaningless sacrifices were useless, and she should cry when she should, and hold back her tears when she shouldn't.

However, the rustling crying sounds from the inner room woke up the people sleeping outside. Bai Jiansheng nudged the snoring woman and said, "Comrade Qiulan, wake up quickly. I hear Ruozhen crying. Are you awake?"

"Awake?" Li Qiulan sat up, put on her tattered cotton jacket, and walked inside. "Thank God, you're finally awake. You scared me to death."

Bai Ruoxin squeezed at the foot of the kang, turned over and muttered, "It's so crowded."

Li Qiulan turned around, slapped her in the face and walked out. She didn't know who had caused the second girl to become like this. Now she was complaining about the crowd. What had she been doing before?

Yesterday was the first heavy snowfall since the beginning of winter. It happened to be the day when grain was distributed. Li Qiulan sent Bai Ruozhen and Bai Ruoxin to the grain station to collect grain. Unexpectedly, on their way back, they slipped and hit their heads on a rock. The grain spilled and they passed out.

She didn't want to get a high fever right after returning from the hospital and was in a daze. The children were scared and didn't want to go to sleep, so they all stayed in the big bed outside. Now that they heard the crying, Li Qiulan's heart finally settled down.

Li Qiulan entered the inner room, touched the lamp cord and turned on the light with a click.

Bai Ruozhen, who had just wiped away his tears, was startled by the sudden bright light: Oh, what is that? It's so scary.

Bai Ruozhen panicked when he saw who was coming. He found that it was not Xiaoli, but a middle-aged woman dressed strangely. "You, you..."

Before you finished, another memory suddenly appeared in Bai Ruozhen's mind. Looking at the woman in front of him, Bai Ruozhen knew, oh, this is her mother.

The thought startled her as soon as it occurred to her. Her mother was the Grand Princess Protector of the Nation, how could she have turned into a middle-aged woman in a tattered cotton-padded jacket? She wasn't as pretty as her mother at all.

Bai Ruozhen seemed to have thought of something and reached out her hand in horror under the light to touch her face. She was almost scared to tears. This is not her. How could she be so thin? She must not look good.

And where is she? Where is her Majesty? Where is her little pear?

Bai Ruozhen ignored the original owner's memory and started crying again with grievance, crying about her miserable life. She was destined to be the queen but now she had become a poor little grass.

Li Qiulan watched her cry again, her head pounding. She didn't understand why her usually spirited daughter had suddenly become so tearful. She frowned, came over and sat on the edge of the bed, and touched her forehead. "Your fever is gone, but you're still feeling unwell? Why are you crying? It's a waste of energy. It's so easy to just eat, but you have to cry so hard. You really don't know how to cherish the good life you have."

Bai Ruozhen thought what she said was right and stopped crying immediately. Now someone reminded her that her stomach was flat. With her red rabbit eyes, she looked at her "mother" in front of her and whispered, "I, I'm hungry."

"What did I say? It's a waste of energy." Li Qiulan said unhappily, "Just bear with it. I'll cook rice porridge for you when the sun comes up." There is never any leftovers from a family meal, and in the middle of the night, even if she wanted to give her something to eat, she couldn't find it.

Li Qiulan covered her with a blanket and gave her a lot of nagging instructions before turning off the lights and leaving, leaving Bai Ruozhen in shock.

Her 'mother' actually refused to give her any food and she had to endure it until tomorrow morning!

Bai Ruozhen became more and more certain of the fact that he had become a blade of grass.

After Li Qiulan left, Bai Ruozhen curled up and lay back down, his mind full of two little people fighting, one was her, and the other was another girl. Bai Ruozhen knew that the one was the owner of this body.

But she didn't want to stay here at all.

Not good at all, she was not given any food to eat.

Bai Ruozhen fell asleep in a daze, and when he opened his eyes again, it was already bright outside.

There was a noisy sound outside. Bai Ruozhen narrowed his eyes and said softly, "Xiao Li, whoever is making noise outside will be dragged out and spanked."

"Who do you want to hit with the stick? Get up and hit them." The door curtain was lifted, and a girl in her twenties wearing a patched cotton jacket and pigtails came in angrily. Seeing Bai Ruozhen awake, she pointed at her and said, "You scattered the food and thought you were capable. You might as well just beat yourself to death. How can the whole family eat the food if it's covered in mud? And now you're pretending to be sick? What's the point of pretending?"

Bai Ruozhen blinked at the girl in front of him. Oh, the original owner's elder sister. She has a really bad temper. If she were in the Great Zhou Dynasty, a girl like her would definitely not be able to get married.

She thought about it and then sighed helplessly and shook her head, which made Bai Ruoxin very angry. She came up to hit her, "Why are you shaking your head? Am I wrong? I think you deserve a beating."

"You, you..." Bai Ruozhen shrank back into the bed in fear, "You are bad." She was very good at pretending to be aggrieved. On the first day after she married into the palace, her cousin the emperor was mesmerized by her crying and said that she was gentle and lovely.

Bai Ruoxin was stunned for a moment and then burst into laughter, "Second brother, did you hurt your brain?"

"You are the one with a broken brain." Bai Ruozhen said in a low voice and then looked at Bai Ruoxin indignantly. Everyone praised her and said that she was born to be the queen. Of course, she also thought so. Although she had never seen her cousin the emperor before the wedding, her mother said that her cousin the emperor was handsome and of noble status. Only the emperor was worthy of her. Someone as noble as her could only reluctantly marry the emperor.

Alas, this man is so evil. How can she go back? She still has to go back to consummate her marriage with her cousin the emperor, and there are still many concubines to fight with.

Unfortunately, she is now in this unknown place. Not only do the people here wear strange clothes, but they also have their hair cut and speak strangely. She is also confused about the memories that the original owner gave her for free. If she reveals the truth, she doesn't know if she will be beaten.

This place is too poor, not as good as the Great Zhou at all.

Not only were they poor, but they were also bad people. Take this original owner's eldest sister. It was clearly because this mean woman chased after the original owner, teased her, and poked her with her finger that the original owner fell down. Now she's blaming them all. She's truly evil. If this happened in the Great Zhou, she would have her cousin, the emperor, tie this woman up and spank her.

Alas, it’s a pity that she is so poor now that she can’t even afford to eat. It’s really unfair to her as a queen.

Bai Ruozhen came to a conclusion, moved her body, and suddenly blushed. She wanted to go to the toilet.
