Chapter 134

After lunch, the two returned home in the afternoon. When they got to town, they went to Second Uncle Gu's house and told her about Bai Ruozhen's pregnancy. Second Aunt Gu was very happy and said, "Great, this is really good news. Don't worry, I'll take care of the baby for you after it's born."

"You will help us take care of the baby?" Bai Ruozhen asked in surprise, because Qiu Lanying had said that she would not help take care of the child, and she was planning to quit her job in the school cafeteria or transfer it to Feng Qiujuan after the baby was born. She didn't expect that Aunt Gu was willing to help.

"But don't you still have to go to work?" Bai Ruozhen said, "How can I ask you to help take care of the child? Taking care of children is the hardest part."

Second Aunt Gu waved her hand, glanced at Gu Changqing, and said, "Your Second Uncle and I have no children, so we've always treated Changqing like our own son. We're helping you raise your child in the hope that when we're old, you'll come visit us often. That would be enough for us."

"Second Aunt, what you said is true. Even if we don't take care of the children, we brothers and sisters still have to respect you." Gu Changqing said, "Don't make it sound so tragic."

Second Aunt Gu was so angry she laughed. "What's so tragic about that? We asked you to adopt us, but you're not happy about it. Your second uncle and I have to take the initiative."

Uncle Gu nodded beside him, "That's right. If you, little bastard, had just been obedient earlier, wouldn't there be so much trouble?"

Gu Changqing, the little bastard, rubbed his nose. "But let Second Aunt take care of the child...or maybe Zhenzhen should take care of the child. It's a pity we can't hire anyone right now. It would be great if we could. If that doesn't work, let Gu Xiaoli come back to look after the child."

Bai Ruozhen was shocked, "You're planning to let Xiaoli not work to help us take care of the child? Why don't you go to heaven."

"Ah." Gu Changqing looked at her, "I'm doing this for your own good. Taking care of a child is so tiring, Gu Xiaoli should do it."

Bai Ruozhen was not convinced, "Why should Xiaoli take care of our child? Are you immoral?"

Aunt Gu nodded beside her, "It's quite immoral."

Gu Chang rolled his eyes and refused to admit that he was immoral.

Uncle Gu said, "Alright, let your aunt see it. She's been thinking about this every day since you got married. Just retire early from work. It's a good opportunity to give the position to her niece. It's the best of both worlds."

Of course Gu Changqing was tempted by such a proposal. As long as he was not adopted, anything was fine. After all, his second uncle Gu and his wife were old, and they couldn't just ignore them.

Bai Ruozhen felt that this was too unfair to Aunt Gu, after all, they were not Aunt Gu's daughter-in-law and son.

"Okay, don't think too much." Aunt Gu smiled, "I've loved children all my life, but fate has it that I haven't given birth to a child for your second uncle. I've watched the fifth child grow up since he was a child. He has so many brothers and sisters, but I only like him. I'm willing and happy to let you take care of the child, so don't say anything else."

In fact, Bai Ruozhen was still a little worried. After all, Wang Jun was about to give birth to a child. If their nephew only showed the child to them and not to Wang Jun and the others, would they have any objections?

However, she didn't say it explicitly. Uncle Gu and Aunt Gu also meant well, so she could only go back and tell Gu Changqing.

After sitting at Uncle Gu's house for a while, they decided to go back to Yancheng. Gu Changqing wanted to push the bike all the way back, but Bai Ruozhen refused. "It's okay to go slower. I ride my bike to work every day, isn't it?"

Gu Changqing was suddenly startled and said, "I'll take you to and from get off work from now on." As he said that, he got on the bike carefully and rode very slowly. Bai Ruozhen felt that he was as slow as a snail.

"What about when you go on a long trip?" Bai Ruozhen asked deliberately, "Don't I have to ride my bike alone?"

Gu Changqing frowned and said, "Then let's walk there."

Bai Ruozhen curled his lips, "It's okay now, but when it gets cold and snows, I'll walk there and what if I fall?"

"Pfft." Gu Changqing stopped the car and glared at her. "Stop talking nonsense all day long. When it gets cold and snowy, ask Uncle Xu to help you get some leave and rest at home."

"How is that possible? No one says they need to rest for several months after giving birth." Bai Ruozhen said, "It's okay. I know what I'm doing."

Gu Changqing sighed and said, "I should have known not to let Gu Xiaoli go to Penglai. At least you guys can keep her company when I'm out."

Bai Ruozhen snorted, "You were the one who disliked her so much back then."

"You still dislike it now." Gu Changqing said, "Alas, it's too late to say anything."

When they got home, they saw Wang Jun at the door. Wang Jun held his belly and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw them. "Fifth brother, hurry up and take me to the hospital. I'm about to give birth."

Bai Ruozhen was startled, "Isn't it still a few days?" He took the bag from her hand and said to Gu Changqing, "Brother Changqing, go to the neighbor's house and borrow a flatbed cart and push Fifth Sister-in-law there."

Gu Changqing knew she couldn't delay and quickly borrowed a car. Bai Ruozhen supported her and asked, "Where's the third brother?"

Wang Jun said, "I went to work. I felt a little uncomfortable in my stomach this morning, and he said he might as well not go to work. I thought it was okay, so I let him go. I didn't expect it to start hurting at noon. I went to your house, but no one was home. I waited until now, and the pain got worse, so I left immediately."

"It's all our fault. We had to go home at this time." Bai Ruozhen felt a little guilty. She could have told the news of her pregnancy at any time, and Qiu Lanying had planned to come over in a few days to take care of Wang Jun during his confinement.

Wang Jun's mouth twitched in pain. "It's okay. The baby hasn't been born yet. What are you doing back home?"

Bai Ruozhen glanced at her big belly and said, "I'm pregnant too."

"Really?" Wang Jun exclaimed in delight, "Good news, great news. I should have asked Mom to come earlier."

"It's okay. I'll have Brother Changqing go back and get Mom later. I'll take care of you first." Bai Ruozhen leaned over to see Gu Changqing pushing a cart and quickly ran over. "I'll go in and get some bedding," he said.
