"Let's go to the ward first. The mother needs to rest." The nurse said, pushing the cart forward. She couldn't help but ask, "Why don't you ask if it's a boy or a girl?"
Everyone was stunned. Aunt Gu said, "Aren't they twins, a boy and a girl?"
The nurse smiled. "Two boys."
"It's a boy." Aunt Gu was a little disappointed. Why weren't they twins, a boy and a girl?
The nurse was very puzzled. How could anyone feel that they had too many sons these days?
Without thinking too much, a group of people arrived at the ward. There were two beds in the ward, and the other one was empty.
Seeing that there were so many of them, the nurse quickly explained the precautions, how to expel lochia, how to observe, and even explained clearly what to eat.
After the nurse left, Aunt Gu said, "Mother-in-law, please stay here with Zhenzhen. I'm going back to cook."
Fortunately, Li Qiulan arrived in time, otherwise she would have been helpless on her own.
Gu Changqing had been sitting at the head of the bed, holding Bai Ruozhen's hand. He placed his other hand on Bai Ruozhen's stomach and rubbed it. After a few rubs, he saw Bai Ruozhen's face wrinkled and quickly softened his movements. "Does it hurt a lot?"
Bai Ruozhen shook his head, "Compared to before, this little pain is nothing."
"Thank you for your hard work, my wife." Gu Changqing felt heartbroken.
Gu Xiaoli, who had been standing silently by the side, came over and choked up, "Sister-in-law, it's all my fault."
Bai Ruozhen glanced at her, then glanced at Li Xiuming who was standing at the door and said, "How can I blame you for this? Twins are prone to premature birth."
Gu Xiaoli was not comforted at all and nodded with a pout.
Bai Ruozhen was a little tired and closed his eyes. "I'm going to sleep for a while."
"Well, drink some water before you go to sleep." Gu Changqing said as he brought the jar over and fed Bai Ruozhen some water before letting her go to sleep.
Bai Ruozhen fell asleep soon. Aunt Gu pulled Gu Xiaoli and said, "Come back with me to cook."
Gu Xiaoli nodded and followed, looking back every few steps. Gu Changqing said to Li Qiulan, "Mom, please watch for a while. I have something to do outside."
Li Qiulan glanced at Li Xiuming and said, "Changqing, Xiuming is my nephew."
"Okay, I understand, Mom. I'll take you to see your grandparents when I have time in a few days." Gu Changqing said.
Li Qiulan knew it wasn't the time to meet her family, so she agreed. "Yeah. Okay. By the way, should I tell your mom?"
Gu Changqing smiled and said, "If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have almost forgotten it."
Gu Changqing walked to the door and said to Li Xiuming, "Come out and talk."
After the two of them left, Li Qiulan sighed, then burst out laughing. She hadn't expected that not only her family, but also the Li family, was involved with the Gu family. However, while her daughter was happy, her nephew didn't seem so lucky. She also didn't know how her parents and brother and sister-in-law were doing now.
After a while, Li Xiuming came back and called softly to the bedside, "Aunt."
Li Qiulan hummed and glanced behind him. Li Xiuming understood, "Brother Gu went to call and tell him the good news."
Li Qiulan glanced at Bai Ruozhen who was sleeping, got up, took out a bottle from her bag, poured some warm water into it, then picked up a child and fed him, whispering, "Are your grandparents okay?"
Li Xiuming whispered, "It's okay, the food and accommodation are just not so good, but my health is still good."
"Yeah." Li Qiulan fed one and then went to feed the other. "I'll go check on them in a few days."
Li Xiuming responded but didn't know what to say.
The two children drank some hot water and fell asleep, lying next to their mother obediently. Li Qiulan sighed, "If only I had found you earlier."
Li Xiuming smiled and said, "Grandpa and grandma miss you too."
Li Qiulan was stunned, and the hysterical roar of her father and the crying voice of her mother trying to persuade her seemed to reappear in front of her eyes.
Those are all too far away, more than 20 years ago.
After a while, Gu Changqing came back. Seeing that Li Xiuming was still there, he didn't say anything and sat beside the bed to watch over Bai Ruozhen.
About half an hour later, Second Aunt Gu and Gu Xiaoli also came back. Second Aunt Gu put the food down and said, "You guys eat first. Changqing, wake Zhenzhen up and have something to eat."
Gu Xiaoli glanced at Li Xiuming and said, "Come out with me." Then she turned and walked out.
Li Xiuming said something to Li Qiulan and others and then left.
"What on earth do you want to do?" Gu Xiaoli said to Li Xiuming from the stairs. "You told me that we couldn't possibly have any relationship, so what are you doing now?"
Li Xiuming looked at her and said, "Bai Ruozhen is my cousin."
"What?" Gu Xiaoli didn't understand what he meant.
Li Xiuming said, "Xiao Li, your fifth sister-in-law is my cousin. Even if we weren't related, I couldn't bear to see you marry a jerk like Zhang Peng."
Gu Xiaoli looked at him without saying a word, "Then what? Who should I marry?"
Li Xiuming didn't dare look at her, "It's okay if it's not him?"
Gu Xiaoli was so angry that she laughed, "Is it your business?"
Li Xiuming insisted, "You are my cousin's sister-in-law, and we are classmates and friends, so I have to intervene."
This reason was indeed far-fetched and even unacceptable, but Li Xiuming said it anyway, "Anyway, you can't marry Zhang Peng."
Gu Xiaoli lowered her head slightly and curled the corners of her mouth, "What's it to you? Go back." Then she turned and left.
Li Xiuming called out to her, "Are you not going to marry him?"
Gu Xiaoli didn't even turn her head and said, "I told my sister-in-law that I won't get married in the future."
Upon hearing this, Li Xiuming was delighted at first, then frowned. Not getting married anymore?
