Without waiting for Bai Ruozhen to protest, Qiu Lanying slapped Gu Changqing on the head. "I regret not letting you call me Gu Erdan now."
Gu Changqing covered his head and said aggrievedly, "Are you kidding me?"
Qiu Lanying rolled her eyes at him. "That's not funny at all." She turned to look at Bai Ruozhen. "Zhenzhen, why don't you name the child? I'm worried about the fifth child."
As soon as she finished speaking, Qiu Lanying successfully received Gu Changqing's resentful look. Qiu Lanying didn't even look at him, but only looked at Bai Ruozhen, hoping that she would name the child herself.
Bai Ruozhen frowned and thought for a moment, then smiled and said, "Cherries and peanuts are both edible. Why don't we call these two the same? The eldest one is called Jiaozi, and the second one is called Doubao. What do you think, Mom?"
"That's good." Qiu Lanying smiled, then said to Li Qiulan, "What do you think, mother-in-law?"
Li Qiulan said cheerfully, "Much better than Goudan and Gousheng."
Gu Changqing was helpless, "I already said I was just joking."
Unfortunately, no one paid any attention to him.
So the two little brothers who just came out of the pot got nicknames, dumplings and bean buns. What does it mean? In the eyes of the older generation, it means being able to eat enough and not go hungry.
As for the name, there is no need to rush. Many of them only choose a name when they go to school, so they can take their time to think about it.
Bai Ruozhen had a very comfortable confinement period. Her tasks, apart from feeding the two children, were to eat and sleep. In the words of Li Qiulan and Qiu Lanying, confinement period means taking good care of the children. She doesn't have to do anything else and can just concentrate on being the little ancestors.
Bai Ruozhen was very grateful because she knew that there were very few people in the countryside who could really stay in the fields for a full month. As far as she knew, when Li Aihong gave birth, she only stayed in the fields for half a month before going back to work. And no one took care of her during that half month. Her mother-in-law only washed clothes and cooked for her, and she took care of the child by herself.
Compared with other daughters-in-law in the village, being a daughter-in-law of the Gu family is indeed much more comfortable. When Wang Jun was in confinement, it was the busy farming season. Qiu Lanying did not go back to earn work points but stayed here to take care of Wang Jun for more than a month before going back.
But they are two boys after all. Even if Bai Ruozhen eats more, she cannot provide enough milk for the two children. She has no choice but to feed them with a mixture of milk powder and formula. When breast milk is not enough, she feeds them some milk powder. In just a few days, the two little guys became white and tender, and very cute.
Confinement is actually not difficult to endure, but what she can't stand is not being able to wash her hair for more than a month, especially when she gave birth, her hair was soaked, but she couldn't wash it and could only wipe it dry slowly. Now her hair is dry, but it sticks to her scalp and is very uncomfortable.
Two days later, Li Aihong and Zhao Lai Di came to see her. Li Aihong's child was already over one year old and just beginning to walk. He was very cute. Li Aihong looked at her chubby white face and said enviously, "You must have had a very comfortable confinement period."
Bai Ruozhen smiled and said, "How can I not be fat with three mothers watching me?"
Li Qiulan just came in and said, "You're the only one who's never satisfied. You don't want to eat this or that."
Bai Ruozhen pouted. She drank chicken and bone soup every day, and she felt that she had gained weight.
Li Aihong and the others stayed until noon and had lunch before leaving. Bai Ruozhen asked Li Qiulan, "Mom, let Brother Changqing take you to Penglai this weekend."
She already knew her grandparents were in Penglai, but Li Qiulan hadn't mentioned it, so she didn't ask. She understood her mother's feelings for them, but since she hadn't mentioned them for days, she figured her mother must be nervous, unsure how to face her own parents.
As expected, Li Qiulan was startled, but still responded, "Okay."
When Gu Changqing came back, Bai Ruozhen told him about this. Gu Changqing thought about it and said, "Okay, I'll go see how Li Xiuming and Gu Xiaoli are doing now."
Bai Ruozhen was puzzled. "What else can we do? I think it's impossible for the Li family not to redress their wrongdoings. Li Xiuming won't agree."
"Yeah, I know. I also saw it when I talked to Li Xiuming before. He really likes Xiaoli, but because of his family background, he is worried that his current situation is not good for Xiaoli and will bring trouble to her." Gu Changqing said, "In this respect, I think he is still a man."
Bai Ruozhen disagreed, "Then he doesn't understand Xiaoli at all. Is Xiaoli the kind of person who would be abandoned just because of her family background? Just wait and see. If the Li family is truly rehabilitated, Li Xiuming will have a hard time marrying Xiaoli."
Gu Changqing frowned and thought for a moment, then waved his hand and said, "Never mind him, let him do whatever he wants. By the way, do you know about Fourth Sister's situation? When I came back the day before yesterday, I seemed to see Fourth Sister arguing with a man, but it was Fourth Sister who yelled at the man until he was stupid."
Bai Ruozhen burst out laughing, and immediately thought of Hu Qiuyang, "I think they will succeed sooner or later."
"Why?" Gu Changqing was puzzled.
Bai Ruozhen looked at him thoughtfully, "Generally speaking, people with thick skin are successful, like you."
Gu Changqing coughed, glanced at his son lying on the kang, and admonished, "Don't say that in front of my son. It will have a bad influence."
Bai Ruozhen clicked his tongue twice. "That Hu Qiuyang, how should I put it? Uh uh, he's quite shameless. I don't think he can handle Fourth Sister's temper."
Gu Changqing hummed and glanced at her, "Ah, when can we eat it?"
"Ah? What?" Bai Ruozhen was confused by his sudden change of mind.
Gu Changqing glanced at her and said, "Eat meat!"
Bai Ruozhen suddenly remembered that one day before she got pregnant, someone mentioned eating meat and then ate it in bed. Her face immediately turned red. Glancing at her son who didn't understand anything, Bai Ruozhen scolded him, "Don't talk nonsense in front of your son."
