Bai Ruozhen was not surprised that Bai Ruoxin took the college entrance examination. After all, the college entrance examination was related to destiny. Most of the educated youth who went to the countryside wanted to leave the countryside and return to the city through the college entrance examination. Not to mention the unmarried educated youth, even many of the educated youth who had already started a family and a career took the college entrance examination.
As for what would happen to the wives and children in the countryside if the educated youth were admitted to university, Bai Ruozhen no longer dared to think about it. After they chatted for a while, Doubao and Jiaozi started playing with Xiaohui. Although Bai Ruozhen hated Bai Ruoxin's attitude towards Xiaohui, he did not dislike it. After all, the child was innocent. Besides, Xiaohui was abandoned by his parents in such an environment last year. Bai Ruozhen did not intend to ask about the child's affairs.
As they were talking, Li Qiulan pushed the door open and came in. Seeing the four of them, she was stunned for a moment before forcing out an unpleasant smile. "Why are you here?"

Li Qiulan sighed and shook her head, "No. You'll never get the chance to piss me off again."
Bai Ruozhen's heart skipped a beat. "What's wrong?"
Li Qiulan's forced smile vanished instantly. She glanced at Xiaohui, but he was busy playing with the dumplings and didn't notice anything unusual. Li Qiulan covered her face with her hands and squatted down, sobbing, "She's gone, Xinxin is gone."
"Gone?" Bai Ruozhen frowned, "What happened, Mom?"
She also saw that Bai Ruoxin had a problem, but she didn't feel sad at all. But Li Qiulan was different. No matter how bad Bai Ruoxin was, she was still her daughter. It was okay that she couldn't see her from far away in Guizhou, but when she really knew that something had happened, Li Qiulan's heart was like a knife.
"She called me a few days ago and said she wanted to come back... I told her not to come back, but she refused to listen. She said she was fed up with life over there, that she and Zhang Fuqiang were divorced, that she was taking the college entrance exam, and that she wanted to come back... But she didn't listen. Seeing Li Qiulan crying, Xiaohui stopped playing and hurried over to comfort her, "Grandma, don't cry, Grandma, don't cry, Xiaohui will be obedient."
Li Qiulan cried even harder after hearing Xiaohui's sensible words. Doubao and Jiaozi had long lost their impression of their grandma, and when they saw her crying, they looked at their parents at a loss.

Although Bai Jiansheng had been angry with Bai Ruoxin before, even annoyed with her in the newspaper and even told her not to ever enter the house again, when he really learned that his daughter was gone, Bai Jiansheng still felt bad.
Parents always have a tolerant heart towards their children. When a person is gone, the mistakes they made in the past don’t seem so important anymore.
"Let's eat first." Bai Jiansheng looked much older as he sat there. "Liqiang, bring Guohong and Walnut back tomorrow."
Bai Liqiang responded and then explained to Bai Ruozhen, "It was not a few days ago that Guohong heard that her elder sister was coming back, and she got angry and went back to her parents' home."
Bai Ruozhen hummed, "Please pick him up tomorrow."
The meal was eaten in silence. Li Qiulan obviously couldn't eat much, so she put down her porridge after two mouthfuls. Gu Changqing tried to persuade her, but Li Qiulan felt uncomfortable being watched by her son-in-law, so she reluctantly drank a few more mouthfuls.
Bai Jiansheng frowned and said, "He's already gone. It's fate. There's no point in thinking too much. Fortunately, Xiaohui is at home. He will be our child from now on. We just need to raise him well. As for Bai Ruoxin, let's just pretend she never existed."
