Chapter 2

Bai Ruozhen thought about it and nodded sincerely, "Yeah, it must be delicious." It would be even better if some minced meat and mushrooms were added to the porridge, hehe.

Seeing that Bai Ruozhen had no intention of separating her from the other two, Bai Ruoyun became a little unhappy. The little person was sullen and did not support her. She quickly went upstairs and said, "Second sister, come back by yourself, hum."

Bai Ruozhen was completely confused and had no idea what the little girl was angry about.

Because of the head injury, Bai Ruozhen walked slowly. Halfway through, Li Qiulan came down and supported her. "One or two of them are always a worry."

Bai Ruozhen curled up the corners of his mouth and thought that this 'mother' seemed not bad. She had a sharp tongue but a soft heart. He supported her as gently as possible.

After going upstairs and entering the house, Bai Ruozhen could see clearly who was in the house.

The middle-aged man in his forties who was drinking corn porridge and smiled at her when he saw her was her 'father' Bai Jiansheng. The girl in her twenties who rolled her eyes at her was her eldest sister Bai Ruoxin. The young man with a fake smile on his face was her twin brother Bai Liqiang. The one who was pouting and drinking porridge in grievance was her little sister Bai Ruoyun, who was eight years old this year. The other little boy who smiled at her was her youngest brother Bai Lishan, who was a twin brother to Bai Ruoyun.

Bai Ruozhen was flattered. Unexpectedly, someone in this family treated her well. Furthermore, after digging through the original owner's memories, she concluded that her parents were quite good and treated everyone equally. Among her siblings, her eldest sister and eldest brother often colluded with each other to cheat the original owner. Although her younger sister might seem cunning, she loved to take advantage of small opportunities. The only one who was friendly to her was her younger brother, Bai Lishan. Unfortunately, Bai Ruoyun had taken away too much of Bai Lishan's nutrients in the womb, causing him to be weak from birth. Even now, his health remains poor, and he frequently needs to go to the hospital for treatment and medication.

In addition, there were only two workers and five children in the family, so the Bai family could be said to be penniless and barely making ends meet.

Bai Ruozhen was weak because he had hit his head, so Li Qiulan gave the porridge originally intended for Bai Lishan to Bai Ruozhen. Bai Lishan didn't think anything of it, but Bai Ruoyun and Bai Ruoxin felt that their parents were extremely partial.

It's just a bump on the head, no big deal. Not only did they spill the food, but they even cooked rice porridge for me.

Too biased.

Bai Ruozhen was helped to sit down by Li Qiulan. Not surprisingly, she received two jealous and displeased glances. However, she was used to pretending to be weak. She looked at Bai Ruoxin with a pair of aggrieved eyes, "Sister, why do you keep looking at me?" She lowered her head to glance at the white rice porridge in her hand and said aggrievedly, "I know you want to drink the white rice porridge. If I don't give it to you, I won't drink it."

Bai Ruoxin was so angry that she glared. Just as she was about to scold her, Li Qiulan scolded her, "Bai Ruozhen, drink it yourself. Bai Ruoxin, shut up. Your sister just woke up and you provoked her. You deserve a beating, don't you?"

Even after the housewife spoke, Bai Ruoxin still looked at her resentfully, using all her strength to stir the corn paste.

Bai Ruoyun pouted and snorted, "Mom, I want to drink porridge too."

"Drink shit, it's gone." Li Qiulan knocked her head in annoyance.

Bai Ruoyun covered her head and glared at Bai Ruozhen fiercely. Bai Ruozhen saw it and smiled at her with narrowed eyes. Then he lowered his head to drink the porridge. He drank it straight and it was very delicious.

Bai Ruoyun could smell the fragrance of the rice porridge even through Li Qiulan. She rolled her eyes and said to Bai Lishan, "Old Fifth, do you want some rice porridge since you haven't had any yet?"

Bai Lishan drank the corn porridge in big gulps and shook his head, "I don't want to drink it anymore. I'm tired of it. It's just right for me to drink some corn porridge to change the taste in my mouth."

Bai Ruoyun choked, and she knew that her younger brother was not a good person. It was a waste that they were born from the same womb, but he did not share the same mind with her. She wanted to see what benefits there were in hanging out with her second sister. It would be better for him to hang out with her eldest sister.

As long as they don't fight, Li Qiulan and Bai Jiansheng don't care about the children's little tricks. After all, they are already very tired from work every day, so who can care about these things?

When Bai Ruozhen heard what Bai Lishan said, she burst into laughter. She glanced down at him and met Bai Lishan's gaze. The brother and sister smiled at each other.

Bai Ruozhen stopped eating after drinking a bowl of porridge. He really couldn't eat anymore. The cornmeal buns were sore at his throat, and there were no vegetables. There was only a plate of pickles, and they were all punctured.

I really miss the imperial kitchen in the palace. There is a full banquet with whatever you want to eat.

But nowadays it’s hard to even have enough to eat.
