Gu Changqing watched the platform grow farther and farther away before entering the carriage with Bai Ruozhen. "Reluctant to leave?"
Bai Ruozhen smiled and said, "I can't explain it. I can't bear to leave my parents and Liqiang and the others, but I really hate Bai Ruoxin." She doesn't even want to call her elder sister now. She feels ashamed to have such an elder sister.
"We'll come back during the Chinese New Year." Gu Changqing said as he took out a bag of peanuts from his bag. "Have some peanuts."
There was still no one else in the compartment. Bai Ruozhen sat down and ate peanuts with him. No one came to their compartment until evening.
After a nap on the train, they arrived in Yancheng at daybreak. The train arrived at the station at around seven in the morning. Unlike when they left with lots of bags, this time the two of them only had one bag besides the clothes they brought. It wasn't that Li Qiulan was reluctant to prepare some for them, but she really didn't have the means. The bag they brought was obtained by Li Qiulan from the black market with great effort.
After getting off the car, Gu Changqing took Bai Ruozhen to the state-owned restaurant for breakfast. After breakfast, the two did not stop and took a car directly to the town to return to Xiahe Village.
Bai Ruozhen was drowsy in the car. Gu Changqing said, "I'll be home for two days before I go back to work."
Bai Ruozhen suddenly lost all sleepiness and said, "Yeah." His voice was full of loss.
Gu Changqing was also reluctant to leave. He really hoped that they could stay together every day, but reality did not allow it. He had to work hard. However, he had an idea on the way. He wanted to wait until this matter was done before doing anything, otherwise it would be bad to let Bai Ruozhen be happy for nothing.
He even felt a little annoyed. Why didn't he think of such a good idea before? If he had thought of it earlier, his son Zhenzhen wouldn't have to work so hard in the fields every day. It was really wrong.
When the car arrived in town, Gu Changqing suddenly said, "Let me take you to visit my second uncle's house."
"Your second uncle?" Bai Ruozhen was surprised.
Gu Changqing nodded, "Well, my second uncle is very nice to me, and my second aunt... is also very nice." It's just that they are too nice to him. If he didn't feel that this matter required the help of his second uncle and aunt, he would not have been willing to come.
Bai Ruozhen thought that the ugly daughter-in-law would have to meet her parents-in-law sooner or later. Moreover, she had already met her parents-in-law, so why would she be afraid of meeting her second uncle? So she nodded, "Okay, then, do you want to buy some things? Or do you want to take out some of the things my mother bought?"
Gu Changqing nodded and said, "Okay, just take a little. I'll go to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy two bottles of wine. My second uncle likes to drink."
"I'll do as you say." Bai Ruozhen felt that it would be better to listen to Gu Changqing on this matter.
The two got off the bus in town and walked to the supply and marketing cooperative, bought some wine and went straight to Uncle Gu's house.
Uncle Gu works in the commune, but Aunt Gu is a teacher in the commune primary school. With such a relationship, Gu Changqing feels that it would be a waste not to use her, since he has the connection.
It was noon and Uncle Gu and his wife were both at home. When they knocked on the door, Uncle Gu quickly hid the wine and said, "Go see who it is."
Second Aunt Gu rolled her eyes at him and came out to open the door. Seeing Gu Changqing, she was immediately surprised and said, "Changqing, you're here. It's been so long since you came to Second Aunt's house. If you didn't come again, I would have gone to look for you. I heard from your mother that you have a boyfriend? Why don't you bring him to me?" Suddenly, she saw Bai Ruozhen behind Gu Changqing, and her eyes lit up immediately. She said in surprise, "Is this your boyfriend?"
Second Aunt Gu finally finished her words, and Gu Changqing finally got the chance to call her Second Aunt. Then he said to Bai Ruozhen, "Zhenzhen, call Second Aunt."
Bai Ruozhen, like a shy young wife, obediently called out, "Second Aunt."
"Oh, good boy, come in quickly." Aunt Gu opened the door and let the person in. Her eyes were glued to Bai Ruozhen, and she looked like a mother-in-law looking at her daughter-in-law with a picky attitude.
Bai Ruozhen was a person who had experienced many ups and downs after all, so she was very natural and calm when facing Aunt Gu's scrutiny, which made Aunt Gu feel that this girl was quite generous and was barely worthy of her favorite nephew.
Gu Changqing shouted as he entered the yard, "Second Uncle, I'm here."
Uncle Gu was amused when he heard his voice, "You still remember your uncle, I thought you had forgotten your uncle after you got married."
Bai Ruozhen smiled when she heard this. It was obvious that Gu Changqing knew this when he was looking for a partner.
When the two of them entered the room, Second Uncle Gu saw Bai Ruozhen and immediately slapped his mouth, "Is this my niece's wife?"
Gu Changqing introduced them, and Bai Ruozhen called him "Second Uncle" again. Second Uncle Gu had met many more people than Gu Zhiguo, so he smiled and praised Bai Ruozhen.
It was time for dinner. Second Aunt Gu was busy adding bowls and chopsticks. Gu Changqing said, "We just came back from the provincial capital and just happened to come and see you."
Uncle Gu and his wife have no children, and they love Gu Changqing from the bottom of their hearts. If he hadn't been unwilling, he would have been adopted long ago. Even so, Uncle Gu and his wife are very concerned about Gu Changqing. He was quite unhappy when he found out that he was in a relationship, and he didn't even bring them to see his girlfriend.
When Gu Changqing graduated from high school, he tried his best to get a place in the Workers, Peasants and Soldiers University, but the kid refused to go, so he had to go to the transportation company.
Uncle Gu took out the wine bottle and poured another glass. "I'm happy today, I have to drink one more glass."
Aunt Gu glared at him but there was nothing she could do.
While eating, the four of them talked, and what they talked about most was what they saw and heard in the provincial capital. Uncle Gu sighed and said, "When I have the chance, I will go to the provincial capital to see it."
After dinner, Uncle Gu and Aunt Gu were going to work. Gu Changqing distributed some of the things he brought with them and put down the wine before saying goodbye and leaving.
Uncle Gu watched the two walk away and said, "I think this kid has a conspiracy."
Aunt Gu's eyes were filled with reluctance. "If there is one, then there is one. It's a pity that he doesn't agree to adopt him. Otherwise, it would be great if it was our child."
