Li Xiuming stood at the door, his hands still wet. He looked at Gu Xiaoli intently and said word by word, "Xiaoli, I will never dislike you." He paused, his eyes full of seriousness. "I'm afraid you don't like me."
No one in the room made a sound except for the sounds of dumplings and bean buns.
Li Xiuming stood there, looked at Gu Xiaoli and said, "I'm sorry, I was wrong before."
"What have you done wrong?" Gu Xiaoli said this and turned her eyes away from him.
"My mistake was being too self-righteous." Li Xiuming's eyes fell on Gu Xiaoli's face, not wanting to move away for a moment. "I shouldn't have rejected you just because of my own thoughts. You know everything about my family situation. Granted, I thought I was doing this for your own good and didn't want you to suffer with me, but I didn't even ask if you were willing."
Gu Xiaoli didn't say anything, but she agreed with what Li Xiuming said in her heart. She had suffered a lot in both her past life and this life. What she was afraid of was not suffering, but that the other party would not give her that opportunity.
Li Xiuming said, "I take back what I said on the way. If I could do it all over again, I would pursue you again."
As soon as he finished speaking, Doubao suddenly shouted, "Okay!"
Full of energy and quite manly.
The somewhat stagnant atmosphere was suddenly broken by this shout. Bai Ruozhen smiled and picked up Doubao, "Bad boy."
Li Xiuming's lips curled up as he said seriously, "Gu Xiaoli, can you give me a chance to pursue you again?"
Gu Xiaoli pondered for a moment, then looked up and said, "Okay."
In an instant, a smile appeared on Li Xiuming's face again.
"Okay, put the basin down quickly. It's so cold." Aunt Gu interrupted them at the right time. "If you have nothing to do, help with the work. Tomorrow is a big day for the two boys."
As they got busy, Bai Ruozhen clearly felt that Gu Xiaoli's mood had improved a lot, and Li Xiuming would occasionally get closer to Gu Xiaoli.
At night, Bai Ruozhen cleaned up another room for Li Xiuming to live in, while Gu Xiaoli and Aunt Gu lived in one.
Bai Ruozhen took out the quilt and handed it to Gu Xiaoli, "Give this quilt to your cousin."
"I don't want to go." Gu Xiaoli put the quilt on the kang in embarrassment.
Bai Ruozhen was surprised. "So you want me to send it off?" Without waiting for Gu Xiaoli's response, she continued, "Aren't you afraid of your fifth brother scolding you?"
Gu Xiaoli was slightly surprised, "Sister-in-law, you are no longer the sister-in-law you used to be."
Bai Ruozhen stuffed the quilt into her arms and pushed her out, "If you're not going, just put the quilt at the door. I won't feel bad if he gets cold at night anyway."
The door slammed shut. Gu Xiaoli glanced at the quilt in her arms and walked hesitantly towards the side room.
It was already dark, the north wind started to blow again, and snow began to fall from the sky. It would probably be very cold at night.
Gu Xiaoli hugged the quilt, looked at the sky, then at the snow in the yard that had not yet melted, and looked at the lighted room, and suddenly she was at a loss.
After walking a few steps and standing at the door, Gu Xiaoli sighed and knocked on the door.
Li Xiuming opened the door and saw Gu Xiaoli standing at the door. "Xiaoli?"
Gu Xiaoli said, "My sister-in-law asked me to bring you a quilt."
"Yes." Li Xiuming stood by the door and made room. "Please put it on the bed for me."
Gu Xiaoli frowned and looked at him, then went into the house.
Li Xiuming closed the door directly from behind. Gu Xiaoli was startled. "Why did you close the door?"
Li Xiuming blinked, "It's quite cold."
"Hmph." Gu Xiaoli put the quilt on the bed and walked towards the door. "I'm leaving."
"Xiaoli." Li Xiuming grabbed Gu Xiaoli's hand as she turned around. "Xiaoli, can you talk to me?"
Gu Xiaoli pulled her hand back and looked at him, "First, I only promised you that you could pursue me again. Second, I didn't agree. Third, I don't want to talk to you now."
After saying that, Gu Xiaoli opened the door and strode out. Li Xiuming stared blankly at his empty hands, smiled bleakly, and then watched her run into the main room.
In the evening, Gu Changqing lay down on the kang early and waited for Bai Ruozhen.
Bai Ruozhen came in from outside and said with a smile, "Jiaozi and Doubao were quite happy when they heard that they would sleep with Second Aunt and Xiaoli. They raised their hands and said goodbye to me. Why do I feel like I am worse than my stepmother?"
Gu Xiaoli was already fond of the two children, and at night she specifically suggested taking them to sleep together. Gu Changqing was more than happy to accept this, and happily gave up his son, saying, "You can take care of them as long as you want."
So the brothers Doubao and Jiaozi stayed with Gu Xiaoli and Aunt Gu.
Gu Changqing made room on the kang and said happily, "Haven't you coaxed the two of you enough?"
Bai Ruozhen curled his lips, then nodded, "I've indeed coaxed them enough." One of them was making a fuss, let alone two of them competing to make more noise.
She didn't think much about it, took off her shoes and got on the kang. She wanted to take another look at the cookbook, but Gu Changqing clicked on the light.
"What are you doing? I was planning to look at the recipe for a while." Bai Ruozhen said dissatisfiedly and fumbled to turn on the light.
Gu Changqing stopped her and dragged her into bed, "What are you looking at? With your cooking skills, a pot of mixed stew would be the most delicious."
Bai Ruozhen lay down, feeling both amused and helpless, "But I don't... um." I was so sleepy.
Ah, don’t say anything more. This is a stinky man who wants to do something but thinks his two sons are in the way.
As Bai Ruozhen welcomed Gu Changqing's kiss, he thought about how they hadn't had much time to do things peacefully over the past year. He remembered that when Bai Ruozhen and Gu Changqing had been doing things at night for more than two months, they were often interrupted by the two boys. There were two times when Gu Changqing was so scared that he almost ejaculated. Since then, Gu Changqing disliked the two boys.
