Chapter 18 Returning Home (Part Two)

Is this, is this, is this still the Eyun they know?

I remember that although Eyun was very intelligent, she had never been so two-faced, uh, no, she was hypocritical, uh, that word doesn't seem right either, it's too derogatory.

"Waaah, Jiaheng, waaah, Erlin..." Jiaming sobbed as she expressed her reluctance to part.

If she hadn't been gesturing wildly in Jiaheng's palm, those words would have been incredibly touching.

The best witness is Red Peach, who is waiting at the entrance with a touching expression.

“Jiaming, what are you doing…” Erlin blinked and looked at Jiaheng, his eyes conveying: Why are you covering my mouth?

Jiaheng put his index finger to his lips to indicate: This matter must not be made public.

Jiaming suddenly felt somewhat sorry for her brother Eshuo. He had entrusted Elin to her, but instead raised him to be so thick-skinned.

Actually, Jiaming is overthinking it. Erlin is just muddle-headed about small things, but very shrewd when it comes to important matters.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have gained the appreciation of the flag masters and the Fourth Prince.

After Jiaheng saw that Erlin understood, he released his hand from covering Erlin's mouth and then looked at Jiaming, indicating that they could continue.

Just as Jiaming was writing a word on Jiaheng's palm, a hand suddenly reached out from her side and landed right on top of Jiaheng's palm, which she was gesturing with.

Looking up, Jiaming couldn't help but shiver and feel a chill. She saw Erlin, with thick eyebrows and large eyes, looking at her with a pitiful expression.

Good heavens, if someone else made that expression, like Jiaheng, it would be fine. For a strong young man like Erlin to make that expression is truly terrifying!

"Me too." Seeing Jiaming staring blankly at him as if struck by lightning, Erlin assumed she didn't understand what he meant, so he immediately reached out and wrote three words in her palm.

Hmph! He's also Jiaming's younger brother, how can we leave him out!

"No, I'll go first." Before Jiaming could react, Jiaheng objected first, grabbing Erlin's hand and writing four words in his palm.

"I'll go first," Erlin said, not to be outdone.

Inside the room, the two felt as if they were at home, and as always, they vied for Eyun's attention and affection. However, this time, the competition was silent, but just as intense.

Jiaming looked at the scene before her, and her head started to ache again. She rubbed her forehead and sighed inwardly: "Ugh, here we go again. Really, doesn't he even know where he is?"

Fortunately, Jiaming was just a little in front of them, so Jiaheng and Erlin, who had good eyesight, immediately saw her facepalming and speechless expression.

Realizing they weren't at home, the two, who had a secret to tell each other, awkwardly scratched their heads and grinned sheepishly.

Jiaming glared at the two of them with annoyance, her red lips parted slightly, and a sob escaped her lips again.

"No way!" Jiaheng and Erlin exclaimed in surprise, their earlier embarrassed expressions still lingering, creating a rather comical effect.

"Waaah," Jiaming choked back tears, but her eyes crinkled with laughter.

Finally, Jiaheng and Erlin quieted down and stopped causing trouble.

As instructed by Jiaming, they first communicated with Jiaheng by gesturing with their palms, and then it was E'lin's turn.

What Jiaming gestured to were all about the medicines she had made over the years to regain her memories, as well as the various rare herbs she had secretly planted among the flowers.

"...These are yours. As for mine, they're in the dressing case. Try to send them over."

Jiaheng frowned, held up his hand to Jiaming's palm and replied, "Too little, take more."

Jiaming: "No need, I can make my own."

"That's right, these medicines were originally prepared by Eyun, so having some as a backup is enough." After understanding this, Jiaheng didn't press the matter further.

After Jiaming and Erlin finished communicating by gesturing with their palms, her choked sobs stopped as well, and her voice grew softer and softer until it almost ceased altogether.

Jiaheng twitched the corners of his mouth, wanting to laugh but holding it back, and even joined in the acting: "Alright, alright, Eyun, don't cry anymore. When the time comes, your younger brother will ask Fourth Master to let him come into the manor to see you."

.

Erlin also realized what was happening and enthusiastically joined in: "That's right, Eyun, don't cry anymore."

He looked at Jiaming with a determined expression and said, "Eyun, although I am not as good at studying as Jiaheng, I am also quite good at military strategy and martial arts. I will work hard to become a high-ranking official, become your support, and let you run rampant in the Fourth Master's mansion."

Jiaheng turned his head and glared at him: "This is my responsibility, and it's also what I should say. If I'm going to support Eyun, that's my responsibility. If I'm going to let Eyun run rampant in the Fourth Master's mansion, that's also my responsibility..."

"What?!" Erlin couldn't stand it anymore and interrupted, retorting, "Eyun is also my Eyun, also my responsibility, also..."

In the blink of an eye, the two started arguing again.

At the doorway, Hongtao listened to the arguing inside and suddenly realized that Dali's suggestion last night wasn't so bad after all. Gege and her family seemed like good people, so being with her would be good. At least, it was better than now.

"Knock, knock, knock," the knocking on the door interrupted the arguing inside. The room fell silent, and Hongtao, who had knocked, immediately said anxiously, "Princess, this servant has something to report."

Jiaming gestured for Jiaheng and Erlin to sit down quickly so as not to be impolite, and then said, "Come in!"

"What is it?" Jiaming asked, looking at Hongtao who was kneeling on the ground and wouldn't get up.

Hongtao couldn't help but take a deep breath, suppressing her anxiety, and asked, "Princess, when you return to the Prince's mansion, may you take me with you?"

Jiaming frowned in thought, and the long silence made Hongtao think she had no hope. She closed her eyes in disappointment, just about to apologize for her rashness, when she heard a clear voice, tinged with doubt.

"Give me a reason to take you back?"

Hongtao was momentarily stunned upon hearing this. However, she quickly regained her composure. "Princess, this is an opportunity for me; I must seize it!"

Immediately, Hongtao revealed her family background, including how her stepmother forced her to marry an old man, and how she wanted to marry Dali Ge.

"Okay, I agree." After listening to Hongtao's explanation, Jiaming had already decided to take her to the Prince's mansion. After all, the initial period after entering the Prince's mansion was the easiest time to be schemed against and the most difficult to endure.

Therefore, having a reliable maid by her side is better than having maids of questionable trustworthiness around her; at least there's one person she can trust. And as for Red Peach, she can be sure that she is currently trustworthy.

She had someone report to Su Peisheng, and even the Fourth Prince, that she wanted to bring an extra maid back to the manor. As she expected, they quickly replied that it was possible.

Just after noon, Jiaming, guided by the servants of the villa, headed towards the carriage outside. As soon as she lifted the curtain, she was confronted by the tall and imposing Fourth Master, who exuded a cool and aloof aura.

Jiaming was slightly taken aback, then quickly greeted him.

Yinzhen nodded, glanced at Jiaming unconsciously, and said indifferently, "Come in."

Jiaming had barely settled down when the carriage started moving.

At midday in autumn, the sun shines just right, and the temperature is just right—neither too hot nor too cold, making for a comfortable climate.

But inside the carriage, it was eerily quiet. Jiaming felt that this was not autumn at all, but rather early winter.
