Chapter 232 My Heart Is Suffocating

Since Fourth Master said not to worry about it and promised that Hongxuan would recover today, Jiaming really did leave it alone.

So when she saw Hongxuan still looking dejected the next morning, both eager to get close to the master and worried and timid, she continued to do her own thing without a care in the world, eating breakfast as usual, ignoring the little guy's situation.

While they were eating, suddenly, Fourth Master picked up a small steamed bun and put it on the plate in front of the little guy.

"Huh!" The little guy rubbed his eyes in disbelief, glanced at Fourth Master, and was bewildered when he saw him focused on eating, as if nothing had happened.

Or was I just daydreaming?

Let it be a dream. Even if it's just a dream, in the dream, my father still cares about me and loves me.

Then, he carefully picked up the steamed bun in front of him and ate it.

Mmm, delicious!

As he ate, the little guy gradually emerged from his depression.

Even if it's just a dream, he's happy.

Seeing that he had almost finished eating, Fourth Master put another one on the little guy's plate.

The little guy blinked rapidly, and finally, he realized it was the second time!

This didn't seem to be a dream, and so the little guy smiled.

Jiaming caught a glimpse of this scene out of the corner of her eye, and a slight smile appeared on her lips, indicating that she was indeed paying attention to Hongxuan.

After having breakfast, Fourth Master patted Hongxuan's head and left amidst the farewell gazes of Jiaming and the others.

Xiao Hongxuan stood there dumbfounded, then burst out laughing.

Because he felt that familiar hand, the warmth of that hand, and the sensation of that hand touching his head.

He was finally certain that he hadn't been daydreaming this morning; everything that had happened was real.

Then, inside the house, Jiaming took Hongxuan's small hand, who was still grinning foolishly even after snapping out of his daze, and led him around the house to help him digest his food.

As they walked, she couldn't stand his silly grin any longer. His little face, so much like her master's, made that expression. Imagining her master's silly grin made her laugh, but after the initial amusement, the thought of his icy, expressionless face made her feel a little uncomfortable. So she immediately started a conversation to attract his attention and change her expression.

"I already told you yesterday, you're overthinking it, aren't you!"

"I was overthinking it." Xiao Hongxuan scratched his head sheepishly and continued, "However, Father scared Xuan'er a few days ago."

Jiaming smiled speechlessly, "You care about your father that much?"

"Yes!" Hongxuan nodded and said very solemnly, "Father is the best!"

Okay! I forgot that you, little guy, have liked your father since you were little. I wasted my breath asking this pointless question.

However, it's quite gratifying to see the little guy back to normal.

Moreover, he looks much better now than when he was depressed these past few days.

Especially during the afternoon when the team was resting, he took the opportunity to go out and play. When he came back, his smile, as warm as the winter sun, also infected Jiaming herself, and her mood also became cheerful.

When people are in a good mood, most become easier to talk to, and Jiaming was no exception.

Seeing that she was in a good mood, and recalling similar situations in the past, Hongxuan regained his usual anger. His eyes lit up, and he immediately smiled. He leaned closer to her and said in a childish voice, "Mother, Xuan'er wants to eat what you make."

The little guy's mouth watered just thinking about all that delicious food.

Jiaming raised an eyebrow, pretending not to understand, and reached into the hidden compartment of the carriage to take out a plate of red bean cakes that she had made earlier, saying, "Here you go, eat."

Hongxuan: "..."

Although this is quite delicious, he wants more than just this.

Seeing that he was stunned, Jiaming curled her lips and said with ill intent, "What, you don't want to eat it? Then forget it." As she spoke, she made a gesture to put it back.

"Ah, no, Mother, I didn't mean to not want to," Hongxuan hurriedly stopped her.

Jiaming had no intention of putting it back; she was just teasing the little guy. So she obediently withdrew her hand and didn't make any further moves.

Xiao Hongxuan quickly moved the whole plate of red bean cakes in front of him and picked up a piece to eat. He was not stopped again. Although he was small, he was quite clever. After taking a couple of bites of the red bean cake, he realized that he had been teased.

After figuring it out, the little guy wasn't in a hurry to eat the red bean cake anymore—after all, a cooked duck can't fly away.

So he continued with his idea, "Mother, although red bean cake is delicious, Xuan'er would like to eat something else, such as dinner or a late-night snack." As he spoke, he began to salivate.

However, whether this expectation can be fulfilled depends on whether Mother agrees.

Looking at the little guy with his wet, puppy-like eyes, Jiaming, who was in a good mood, couldn't bear to refuse. Besides, she was also looking forward to eating the dishes she had made, so she nodded in agreement.

She continued, "Then think about what you want to eat, and your mother will make it for you. Of course, this only applies to ingredients that are available; if they're not, I'll have to make something else."

"Wow, that's great!" The little guy didn't care about the ingredients; anything his mother made was delicious. So, he jumped up and down happily in the carriage.

Hongtao in the carriage could understand her young master's excited mood. After all, it wasn't convenient for him to go to the kitchen while they were away. So, he didn't cook much, and most of the time, he just made some pastries that kept for a long time.

In addition, the master's cooking is famously delicious (as everyone in Peach Garden knows), and the master also praised it as delicious. The young master only eats a meal cooked by the master once every few days, so it's normal that he misses it.

As dinner time approached, after Su Peisheng informed him that Jiaming had prepared the meal, the workaholic Fourth Master, who had originally planned to eat dinner alone that night, changed his mind. He then left, leaving behind some remaining tasks.
