Soon, the two busy days passed. On the morning of their return from the southern tour, Jiaming, accompanied by Hongxuan and Hongtao, happily boarded her carriage.
She was so bored during her southern tour that she couldn't wait to return to the Fourth Prince's residence.
So even though she anticipated that the nearly month-long return journey, spent entirely in the carriage, would be just as boring, it couldn't dampen her spirits.
After all, once she returned to the Fourth Prince's residence, her boring days would end, and the miserable days of the Fourth Prince always asking her to hold book discussion meetings every night would also end, or at least not so frequently.
But little did she know that her carefree return journey would deliver a devastating blow.
"vomit!"
Less than half an hour after the carriage set off, Jiaming spat into the spittoon.
She vomited and vomited until her eyes filled with tears; she felt extremely uncomfortable.
Waaah, she wanted to cry. Why was being pregnant with a second child so miserable?
She was perfectly fine riding in the carriage when she came here, but after she became pregnant, she vomited in the carriage on the way back!
This time, it's definitely the baby in her belly causing the problem, not her.
After finally calming down, Jiaming was so weak from vomiting that she could only lean against Hongtao.
Her gaze inadvertently met Hongxuan's wet, dark eyes. His helpless and pitiful appearance instantly improved her miserable and depressed mood.
She smiled, reached out and held Hongxuan's chubby little hand, and comforted him, "Don't worry, Mother just threw up, it's nothing serious."
Hongxuan was half-believing and half-doubting, still worried. His eyes followed Jiaming intently, trying not to blink. He was afraid that his mother might vomit while he wasn't looking, or something even more worrying.
Seeing this, Jiaming felt relieved, but then thought she should find a reason to send him to his father's place so as not to make him worry.
Moreover, Jiaming frowned and wrinkled her nose. Because of her recent vomiting, the carriage was filled with an unpleasant odor.
If I weren't the one who caused all of this, I wouldn't want to stay in this environment either. So, for Hongxuan's sake, I should send him away!
Jiaming leaned against Hongtao beside her. She had just poured a cup of tea when she saw her master frowning and wrinkling his nose. She could also smell the aroma, so she immediately understood and lifted a corner of the carriage curtain.
As the carriage moved, the outside air and the odor inside the carriage were rapidly exchanged, and soon the odor inside the carriage gradually faded.
Jiaming's furrowed brows and wrinkled nose immediately relaxed.
She picked up the teacup in front of her, sipped the tea, and pondered how to send Hongxuan to her master's place.
It's definitely not possible right now. My master is busy, and I didn't mention it to him beforehand. Besides, we're on our way back, and the carriages are moving one after another. It's not good to stop suddenly. Let's wait until the group rests before we talk about it!
Half an hour later, Jiaming, who had just told Hongxuan that "it's just vomiting, it's not a big deal," was quickly proven wrong when she vomited again.
After vomiting, she slumped against Hongtao, too weak to even raise her hand to comfort Hongxuan, and could only offer feeble words of comfort.
But that wasn't the end of it. Nearly an hour later, she vomited again.
This is the third time already. Jiaming looks completely listless now, a stark contrast to the cheerful and energetic person she was this morning when she boarded the bus.
"Master, this servant will call someone to fetch the doctor and Fourth Master." Hongtao said anxiously, patting Jiaming's back as she rinsed her mouth with tea.
Upon hearing this, Hongxuan immediately nodded repeatedly and exclaimed, "Yes, call the doctor, find Father!"
In the little boy's mind, when the doctor came and stopped his mother's vomiting, she wouldn't feel so bad; and when his father, who was so capable, came, he wouldn't have to worry so much.
Jiaming spat the tea she was holding into the spittoon, then waved her trembling hand and weakly squeezed out two words, "No need."
Before Hongtao could speak, she pointed with trembling hand to the carriage curtain.
Hongtao immediately realized what was happening and lifted a corner of the carriage curtain again to let the strange smell inside the carriage dissipate.
Hongtao was temporarily stopped by Jiaming and didn't mention calling a doctor again, but Hongxuan was still there.
The little one clutched Jiaming's sleeve tightly, stubbornly looking up at her, "Mother, please call a doctor, please find Father!"
"Wait a minute!" Jiaming weakly uttered two words.
When Hongxuan heard that his mother had agreed to call a doctor and his father later, he let go of the hand that was gripping the other person's sleeve.
Jiaming slowly sipped her tea, and only after feeling her strength gradually recover did she look at Hongxuan and continue speaking, her tone no longer so weak.
"There's no need to call a doctor."
Hongxuan and Hongtao were stunned.
"Master, didn't you just say you would call a doctor later?" Hongtao frowned.
“Yes!” Hongxuan nodded in agreement, looking at Jiaming with a reproachful look in his eyes, as if to say—Mother, you didn’t keep your word.
Jiaming blinked. Actually, she understood that the "wait a moment" was ambiguous. However, it was Hongxuan and Hongtao who misunderstood, not her. She immediately pretended to be innocent and said, "Is that so? I just didn't have the strength to talk to you, so I asked you to wait a moment until I recovered a bit."
Hongxuan and Hongtao: "..."
Seeing that the two were about to try to persuade her, Jiaming spoke first, "I've been thinking about it. The first time I vomited was half an hour after we set off, the second time was half an hour later, and the third time was about an hour later!"
Hongxuan and Hongtao looked at Jiaming with confusion, wondering what she meant by saying all this.
