Chapter 295 How could it be her?

Xiao Hezi was idly warming himself by the fire and drinking hot tea in the house when suddenly he saw someone come in—it was the messenger.

He calmly took the secret letter from the man's hand, slowly opened it, and as he opened it, a thought flashed through his mind: it seems to be about the First Prince again.

Upon opening the secret letter, he glanced down and was first taken aback, then delighted, before finally frowning with his delicate brows.

He quickly folded the superstitious paper offering and then rushed to the main room where Jiaming was.

Inside the house, Jiaming and her son, Xiaohongxuan, were having a warm chat. Every now and then, they would pick up some snacks to eat or drink some hot tea.

The harmonious atmosphere in the room was quickly broken when Xiao Hezi's hurried arrival caught their attention.

Xiao Hongxuan often interacted with his father in the front yard. So, imitating his father's calm demeanor, he nodded slightly to Xiao Hezi and asked, "Why are you in such a hurry? What's wrong?"

Looking at Xiao Hongxuan's posture, Jiaming thought to herself, "Not bad!"

Then, following Xiao Hongxuan's gaze, she looked at Xiao Hezi and wondered why he was so agitated.

After quickly bowing to the two men, Xiao Hezi hurriedly said, "Master has news of the mastermind behind this."

"Who is it?" Xiao Hongxuan's face instantly turned cold, he was practically a smaller version of the angry Fourth Master.

Jiaming didn't hide most of what happened from the little guy, and Xiao Hongxuan also knew that the person who had attacked her mother before wasn't one of the people in the backyard, but an unknown one.

Now that we've found a clue to the culprit, how could we not be overjoyed?!

How could she not be angry at the culprit who targeted her mother?!

Jiaming reached out and held the little guy's hand, gently advising, "Listen to what Xiao Hezi has to say first. As the saying goes, 'Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated.'"

The little guy nodded, then looked at Xiao Hezi to see what he had to say.

"The messengers below have sent word that all the clues point to a concubine in the Eighth Prince's mansion, namely Wang, who gave birth to a little prince for the Eighth Prince a few months ago." Xiao Hezi said with a puzzled look on his face.

"How could it be her?" Jiaming asked in surprise and confusion.

At the same time, Xiao Hongxuan was also surprised and puzzled: "How could it be a princess from Uncle Ba's mansion?"

"This servant doesn't know either," Xiao Hezi replied somewhat dejectedly.

Xiao Hongxuan was puzzled, and her tone was slightly conflicted as she asked, "Could it be that we made a mistake?"

“No way,” Jiaming said, denying Xiao Hongxuan’s guess. As she spoke, she met Xiao Hongxuan’s questioning gaze and explained, “Your mother’s people know them well. The information they sent couldn’t be wrong.”

Xiao Hezi quickly chimed in, "Master is right. The person in charge of this matter is capable and trustworthy, so there's an 80-90% chance this news is true."

What he didn't say was that his intuition was always accurate, and how could he not trust someone he had personally seen? Moreover, those individuals were quite capable, and the information they found was unlikely to be wrong.

Seeing that his mother and Xiao Hezi were so certain that the news was true, Xiao Hongxuan believed them too. "But why would a princess from Uncle Ba's household target Mother like this?"

Upon hearing this, several thoughts flashed through Jiaming's mind. Did that person have a grudge against her? Or was that person targeting the Fourth Prince, using her to attack his harem? Who would have such thoughts? Like the transmigrated woman Li, or the reborn woman like the Fujin or Hesheli who knew the future...

As she was pondering, Xiao Hezi's voice interrupted her thoughts.

"This servant was also surprised when the people below investigated that Wang woman regarding this suspicion. She and Master did not know each other and should not have any hatred between them."

That's strange. How could she have had such an idea and then attacked her mother? The two of them are clearly not related at all. Xiao Hongxuan pondered, playing with the jade pendant he wore at his waist.

Jiaming felt a sense of familiarity upon seeing this scene. The gesture seemed somewhat like that of the master, except that the master was playing with the thumb ring on his thumb, while Hongxuan was playing with the jade pendant at his waist.

For a moment, she couldn't help but find it somewhat amusing.

As he was pondering, Xiao Hongxuan suddenly noticed the slight smile on his mother's face and couldn't help but feel annoyed. "Mother, you still have the mood to smile? You've been targeted and schemed against for no reason. This is such an important matter, you need to find a way to resolve it quickly."

"I see," Jiaming pondered for a moment, continuing her previous thought. After a while, she suddenly looked up at Xiao Hongxuan and said calmly, "I have a solution."

"Mother, what's the solution?"

"What's your plan, Master?"

As they spoke, Hongxuan and Xiao Hezi both looked at Jiaming.

Jiaming remained silent, slowly picked up her teacup, took a small sip, and swallowed it leisurely, clearly trying to whet their appetites.

Xiao Hezi was a servant, and although he was anxious, there was nothing he could do but suppress his anxiety and wait.

Xiao Hongxuan didn't care. He got up from his seat and hurriedly came to Jiaming. He hugged her leg and said in a coquettish tone, "Mother, hurry up and tell me."

Jiaming thoroughly enjoyed the little guy's affectionate behavior. Satisfied, she put down her teacup and gently stroked the little guy's fluffy head with her free hand.

Since moving to the front yard, this little guy has become more and more like a little adult. Not only does he refuse my kisses and hugs, but he also stops acting cute towards me as often.

Fortunately, this little guy's precocious manners haven't taken root in his bones yet. As soon as she made a little scheme, she was able to enjoy the little guy's affection again.

However, it's best to know when to stop, otherwise the little guy might get angry and ignore you, which would be bad.

So she said, "We have limited manpower at the Eighth Prince's residence. Relying on ourselves, we don't know when we'll be able to find anything. We need to get others to help us investigate this matter."
