Not long after the first white light appeared in the east, the peach trees in the Peach Garden, though already filled with birds flying and chirping, were in the midst of a good sleep.
But some people get up as early as birds. It's one thing for them to get up early, but they also expect others to get up as early as them.
"Get up, Guoguo! Get up, Guoguo!" Hongjing, who had already woken up, excitedly pushed Jiaming and called her to get up.
Jiaming turned her back to Hongjing, clearly indicating that she didn't want to pay attention to him and wanted to continue sleeping.
Hongjing was unwilling to accept this. He crawled closer to Jiaming again, grabbed her clothes tightly with his little hands, climbed onto her body, and continued to push with both hands and urge with his little mouth: "Get up, Guoguo! Get up, Guoguo!"
It was so annoying that Jiaming immediately covered her ears, wanting to go back to sleep.
Little Hongjing wouldn't stand for it. He reached out and forcefully pried Jiaming's hands off her ears, while his little mouth shouted, "Eh, get up, Guoguo, get up, Guoguo!" and the shouts grew louder and louder.
With no other choice, Jiaming let go of her hand and said gently, "If you want to eat fruit, wait for Hongtao to come in later, and you can ask Hongtao to give you some."
After saying that, she immediately flipped over the cloth pillow, buried her head under it, thinking that this should be the end of it and she could go back to sleep!
Unexpectedly, Hongjing refused to give up, shouting, "No, Guoguo, I want Guoguo!"
They kept pushing Jiaming and pulling at the pillow, not wanting her to sleep anymore. It was as if they wouldn't give up until Jiaming got out of bed.
Jiaming, still feeling sleepy, was grumpy when she woke up. "Guoguo, Guoguo, what do you mean 'no' and 'want'? Aren't they all the same?!" She was so sleepy, so very sleepy, and didn't want to get out of bed.
"Guoguo!" Hongjing got angry. Seeing that Jiaming still didn't react, the little guy "woof" and bit Jiaming's fair and tender hand.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch!" Jiaming sat up abruptly, knocking Hongjing off her.
She sat up on purpose, to get back at the little one and flip him over. Of course, she knew she wouldn't actually knock him to the ground or hurt him; she was just venting her anger.
Staring at Hongjing, who was lying on the bed, Jiaming poked his butt, which was sticking up as he tried to get up, with a hint of annoyance. "You brat, you're clearly not a dog, so why do you like to bite people! Biting your brother, father, and others wasn't enough, now you're biting your mother too. Watch out, or I'll..."
Suddenly realizing that Hongjing's "Guoguo" was not the fruit to eat, but rather his "brother's" fine tea, he abruptly stopped speaking.
However, she still held Xiao Hongjing face to face in her arms, testing whether her guess was correct.
"You're looking for your mother because you want to find your fourth brother, Hongxuan."
Hongjing immediately became excited, waving his little hands, kicking his little legs, and calling out, "Guoguo! Guoguo!"
Jiaming looked speechlessly at the chubby little baby in her arms. It turned out the little guy had remembered everything she said last night, knowing his brother was coming back today. No wonder he'd been urging her to get up early this morning for "Guoguo"—he wanted to see his brother!
But isn't this too early?
Feeling a little annoyed, she gently pinched the little guy's chubby bottom, thinking that she must have been out of her mind last night, thinking that the fair and tender little guy was so cute that she thought of holding him to sleep.
The little guy's eyes widened in surprise as he was pinched, then he patted Jiaming's hand that was pinching his bottom, muttering "No, no, yeah."
Jiaming ignored the little guy's words. She turned to look outside. Although it was already bright outside, it was actually still early. It was just that it got light early in the summer, and according to her usual schedule, it wasn't time for her to get up yet.
"Jing'er, it's still early. Your brother won't be back anytime soon. Shall we continue sleeping?" Jiaming asked the little guy quietly, regardless of whether he understood or not.
Little Hongjing kept muttering "Guoguo, Guoguo," so Jiaming put him on the bed and prepared to lie back down and continue sleeping.
The little guy, however, scurried to where she was about to lie down, making it impossible for Jiaming to lie down.
The bed was so big that Jiaming took the initiative to change her position to sleep, but Xiao Hongjing also changed his position, refusing to let Jiaming lie back down on the bed and continue sleeping.
What could Jiaming do? Being bothered by such a little troublemaker, she couldn't continue sleeping and had no choice but to give in and get up.
However, after getting up, the little guy was indeed sleepy while eating breakfast. After finishing his breakfast, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Jiaming: "..."
She had an uncontrollable inner devil, wanting to reach out and pinch the little one hard to vent her anger, even the one on the bed, the one with its little belly covered by a thin blanket, white and tender like a cute little bun.
Around noon, Jiaming gently woke up the little boy, Hongjing, who was sleeping soundly.
The little one hadn't had enough sleep yet. He turned over, ignoring Jiaming, and wanted to continue sleeping.
Jiaming shook it again with a heavy heart, while secretly thinking to herself: Now it's your turn!
Hongxuan turned to the side again, yawned, and mumbled, "Sleep."
Jiaming ignored her and continued shaking, just like Hongjing used to wake her up every morning; she wouldn't give up until she got up.
Hmph, you won't be sleeping this time either. Weren't you thinking of seeing your fourth brother?!
You should get up and go out with your mother to wait and greet them together!
"Aww!" The little guy immediately pouted, getting grumpy when he woke up.
Jiaming ignored his morning grumpiness, simply crossed her arms and watched the little guy waving his little arms and kicking his little legs, making a ruckus on the bed with a smile on her lips.
After all that fuss, the little guy's morning grumpiness was gone. He was less sleepy, more awake, and calmed down a bit, though he was still whining and whining in dissatisfaction.
"Your brother is coming back soon!" Jiaming said, and the little guy, who had become much more awake, clearly understood. He stopped whimpering and reached out to Jiaming for a hug. It was obvious that he wanted to get up on his own.
Jiaming then smiled and bent down to pick up Xiao Hongjing. "Come on, let's get up. We'll go pick up your brother together later!"
Hongjing wrapped his arms around Jiaming's neck, straining his little body to pull himself out, clearly wanting to rush out, while calling out repeatedly, "Guoguo, Guoguo!"
"I know you miss your brother! But, no rush!" Jiaming patted Xiao Hongjing's chubby little bottom and explained to the little guy, "Let's wash our faces and wipe our hands first, and then we need to eat something to fill our stomachs."
Children don't understand, but how could she not understand?
Going out to wait might mean waiting a short while for Hongxuan and the others to return, or it might take a long time. It's fine for her to wait like this, but Jing'er is still young. He hasn't eaten anything since breakfast, and he might not be able to stand waiting for so long without eating. So it's better to let him eat something to fill his stomach before we go to wait.
After washing the little guy's face and wiping his hands, Jiaming took the lukewarm vegetable porridge that Hongtao had been letting cool for a while and fed the little guy. Then she changed the little guy into the clothes she had prepared. Only then did she personally carry Hongjing and leave Peach Courtyard with Hongtao and Lvliu.
