Chapter 371 Flower Cake

After instructing Green Willow and Little Hezi on their tasks, Jiaming forgot all about Madam Geng's visit.

Returning to the outer room, I saw Xiao Hongjing happily playing by himself on the mat with his head down. So I stopped paying attention to him, walked back to my seat, sat down, and prepared to eat the flower cakes and tea that I hadn't finished earlier.

To my surprise, when I looked at the table, the plate was empty.

Jiaming: "..." Waaah, my flower cakes, how did they all disappear?

These flower cakes were made using a new method she came up with recently. Although she didn't make them herself, she taught the cook in the small kitchen how to make them.

For this reason, she recently tended to all the flowers she planted in her yard. As for why Hongxuan and the Fourth Master didn't notice when they returned, it was because those flowers were newly blooming.

"Eh!" Hongjing, who was playing with his favorite treasures, only then noticed that his mother had returned, and was instantly overjoyed.

Feeling dejected, Jiaming looked at her son Hongjing, who was calling her name, with a puzzled expression.

With crumbs of fresh flower cake still clinging to his lips, little Hongjing, his chubby little finger pointing at the empty plate, said in his childish voice, "No, I don't want any!"

Jiaming said dejectedly, "You ate all the flower cakes on the plate."

Little Hongjing tilted his head, blinked his eyes, and looked incredibly innocent.

Jiaming: "..." Okay, it's so cute, I'll eat it, it's fine.

"Uh, no, I don't want it!" Xiao Hongjing couldn't help but speak again when he saw that Jiaming still didn't respond to him.

Hongtao, who was standing nearby, was afraid that her master was unaware of the situation, so she quickly said, "Master, the Fifth Prince has already eaten so much, we can't allow him to eat any more."

Hongxuan stared wide-eyed at Hongtao, his cheeks puffing out.

I'm so annoyed! Honghong is so mean, she won't let me eat the pancakes.

Even if Hongtao didn't say anything, Jiaming estimated the amount she had left on the plate. Considering the little guy's small belly capacity, she glanced at his bulging little belly and wouldn't allow him to eat any more.

Then, he said coldly, "You can't eat anymore. Look at your little belly, it's about to burst if you eat any more."

When Xiao Hongjing suddenly heard that his mother forbade him to eat anymore, he got angry, stared at Jiaming with wide eyes, and puffed out his cheeks at Jiaming.

Upon hearing that eating more would cause his stomach to burst, the little guy was initially confused. After roughly understanding what it meant, he nervously clutched his bulging little belly.

Jiaming smiled and continued, "Don't be afraid, as long as you don't eat it now, you'll be fine."

The little one's eyes sparkled with relief, and he removed his hand from his stomach.

Looking at the adorable little Hongjing, the soft-hearted Jiaming offered a gentle suggestion: "If you still want to eat, you can only wait until your stomach isn't so bloated, such as after you wake up from your afternoon nap."

The little guy's eyes lit up even more after hearing this, and he didn't pester her for more food. He was very sensible.

However, Xiao Hongjing can't eat it, but she can.

Jiaming beckoned to Hongtao and said, "Go and get a plate of fresh flower cakes."

A short while later, Hongtao, who had gone to the kitchen, returned with a plate of fresh flower cakes.

As soon as she put down the plate, Jiaming quickly picked up a flower cake and began to eat it with relish.

As I ate, I felt my mouth getting a little dry, so I drank some tea.

Hongjing, sitting on the mat, sniffed the air. The aroma of the flower cakes instantly drew his eyes to Jiaming's flower cakes, and his little mouth, already drooling from teething, became even more watery.

The wet nurse next to him became even more diligent in wiping the little guy's drool.

Jiaming caught a glimpse of Xiao Hongjing drooling with longing out of the corner of her eye, and felt both sorry for him and amused.

Afraid that she would soften and continue feeding the little guy because of his pitiful appearance, Jiaming swallowed the food in her mouth, put down the unfinished flower cake in her hand, took a sip of tea, and then suddenly stood up. She took the flower cake plate and tea and changed seats, making sure her gaze was not directed in Hongjing's direction.

Hmm, that way we won't be able to see Hongjing.

Then, Jiaming happily continued eating.

Mmm, delicious!

She ate one after another, and after finishing a whole plate, she was still a little hungry. Jiaming patted her stomach and thought she could still eat, but then she remembered that lunch was coming up soon, and if she ate any more, there wouldn't be any room left in her stomach for a delicious lunch.

After thinking it over, Jiaming reluctantly looked away from the empty plate of flower cakes, wiped her hands, took several sips of tea, stood up, and walked towards Xiao Hongjing.

Xiao Hongjing was a little angry. Even though he knew he couldn't eat anymore, there was nothing wrong with his mother not giving him any.

But the little guy's childish temper flared up, and he was so unreasonable—his mother was so annoying, eating it herself and not letting him have any.

The little guy turned his head, his little bottom facing his mother who was walking towards him.

Jiaming smiled, knowing that the little guy was angry, but she wasn't worried at all. She estimated that the little guy's temper would subside in a while.

She turned her gaze to Hongtao, who was watching over Hongjing, and instructed, "These flower cakes are quite good. The Fourth Prince has never tasted anything made this way before. Hongtao, take two plates over for him to try."

I made five plates of flower cakes today. I ate two plates, gave two plates to Hongxuan, and kept the last plate for myself this afternoon.

"I understand, I'll send it over right away," Hongtao said.

Jiaming nodded, came to Hongjing's side, picked up a storybook, and sat down not far from the angry Hongjing on the cool mat to read the storybook.

As she read on, Jiaming complained about the melodramatic plot of the storybook, but she never gave up on it.

When it was lunchtime, Jiaming didn't have much of an appetite because she had eaten too many flower cakes earlier, so she decided to eat something simple.

So we ordered a plate of cold noodles and some side dishes. As for Xiao Hongjing, like Jiaming, he ate too many flower cakes, so he didn't eat much complementary food and only drank milk.

After lunch, Jiaming took a nap with Xiao Hongjing. After waking up, the mother and son played together on the mat for a while before eating flower cakes together.

While we were eating, Xiao Hezi came in looking a bit off.

Jiaming put down the unfinished flower cake in her hand and wiped her mouth and hands.

Although Xiao Hezi was eager to report the news he had heard to his master, he could not fail to show respect, no matter how urgent the matter was.

Then, Xiao Hezi, who had just entered, respectfully bowed and said, "May Your Majesty be well, and may the Fifth Prince be well."

Jiaming smiled and said, "Get up!"

Hongjing, standing to the side, looked at Xiao Hezi and called out with a smile, "Hehe."

Hearing the little prince's soft, sweet voice calling his name, and seeing the little prince's smiling, fair, and adorable appearance, Xiao Hezi smiled.

"What's the matter? Has someone come to visit again?" Xiao Hezi came in at this moment, and given his strange expression earlier, it seemed like something was wrong. Jiaming was speechless. Why were there so many things happening today?!

The smile on Xiao Hezi's face vanished the moment he thought about what he was about to say.
