Chapter 40 has a problem.

In the Peach Blossom Courtyard, the steward brought over some of the flower and plant seeds from the manor, and Jiaming personally planted some of them.

She didn't renovate the entire Peach Garden, nor did she move or cut down a single peach tree. She only planted the flowers, grasses, or seeds she had acquired in small patches of open space.

.

With these flowers, plants, and various seeds, Jiaming's life suddenly became much more fulfilling.

Now, she truly fell in love with all these flowers and plants, and the leisurely lifestyle.

Unfortunately, their leisurely life was shattered by a bombshell piece of news after only a few days.

When Wu Shi became pregnant, the women in the inner courtyard, who had been temporarily suppressed by the Fujin and had not come to cause her trouble, instantly shifted their attention to Wu Shi.

One reason was that Lady Wu was pregnant, and the other was that even though Jiaming had moved into Peach Garden, the master hadn't shown much favor to Lady Guarjia in the past month.

In their eyes, the Fourth Prince was very well-behaved. He spent about ten days a month in the front courtyard, four days with his wife, three days with Lady Li, and only two days with Consort Song, Lady Wu, and Lady Zhang. He spent about two or three days with the other concubines.

It was similar to when they used to serve the emperor; the only difference was that the emperor gave Princess Guarjia three days in the front courtyard.

Although they were jealous that Princess Guarjia also received the master's favor three days a month, it was just envy; they were not jealous to the point of being jealous upon hearing that Lady Wu was pregnant.

After all, offspring are highly valued here; being favored but unable to conceive is all for naught.

With Wu's pregnancy, the atmosphere in the entire Fourth Prince's mansion changed, and Jiaming was also forced to be on edge.

Of course, since she had no other thoughts about Wu's pregnancy, she was one of the most peaceful women in the household compared to the others.

She still stayed in her own Peach Blossom Courtyard every day, only strengthening the defenses of the courtyard, forbidding people from entering or leaving at will, and prohibiting them from going near the Wu family's courtyard.

That day, Jiaming once again used her supernatural abilities to communicate with the newly planted flowers and plants. As she continuously circulated her wood-type supernatural abilities, Jiaming felt that a certain part of her body seemed to be different.

After tending to the flowers and plants, she went back into the house, sat on the soft couch, touched her belly, her eyes flickered, and she stared blankly.

A moment later, a resolute glint suddenly appeared in her eyes.

As lunchtime approached, Jiaming told Hongtao, "I don't really feel like eating fish today."

Since she had previously told Hongtao directly what she didn't want to eat, saying not to eat fish wasn't abrupt or obvious at all.

The next morning, not long after breakfast, the manor finally collected all the flower and plant seeds she had requested and delivered them to her.

It had been half a month since she last planted flowers and plants. If the manor hadn't suddenly sent these things over, she would have almost forgotten that she still had some flowers and plants that she hadn't received or planted.

Flowers and plants are very attractive to Jiaming, who has wood-type supernatural abilities.

So, he immediately called Red Peach to follow behind him and go take a look.

Before she even got close, her supernatural abilities suddenly started to stir. Jiaming's expression changed abruptly. Something was wrong with these plants!

That was a really subtle tactic, but unfortunately, it backfired on her!

Here, many plants are non-toxic and normal. However, a few plants have clearly undergone special cultivation to mutate and emit a unique, undetectable odor, which gradually affects those who smell it.

.

Of course, it usually only affects people who are frequently in contact with them; other people will only be slightly affected by the smell.

That's quite a clever tactic. I wonder whose scheme it was in the household—the Fujin, Lady Li, or someone else!

In a short while, her thoughts were churning, but her expression became composed, and her acting instincts allowed Jiaming to quickly control her facial expressions.

She looked with delight at the plants that had just been moved, still covered in mud and soil. She took a few quick steps and reached out to touch one of the plants when she suddenly stopped.

He tossed out a sentence, "Don't rush to plant them. Let me tidy them up again before we start planting together." Then he turned around and walked back quickly.

In the bedroom, Jiaming didn't immediately change into her old clothes. She walked to the dressing table, reached out and touched all four sides of the mechanical wooden box, and suddenly, a drawer-like gap appeared in the box.

Upon opening, there were three small jade bottles inside. Jiaming took out the third jade bottle, uncorked it, and poured out a round, green pill that emitted a medicinal fragrance.

Without thinking, she popped the pill into her mouth and swallowed it.

Then he put the small jade bottle into the hidden pocket in his sleeve, restored the mechanical wooden box to its original state, took out two seeds from the back mountain of Qingquan Temple and carried them with him, and then went to change into old clothes and go out.

In the courtyard, one of the two maids who brought the plants waited respectfully, while the other, who was noticeably more alert, kept glancing around with her eyes, occasionally looking up to see if Princess Guarjia had come out yet. She was quite worried that Princess Guarjia might change her mind, and a hint of anxiety appeared in her eyes.

A short while later, Jiaming came out, dressed simply, and she really wanted to help plant these plants.

The honest servants diligently helped Jiaming dig holes, turn the soil, and plant the plants. The more nimble servants, on the other hand, were very smooth and eager to please Jiaming. As soon as Xiao Hezi and the others finished digging the holes, they would quickly hand the plants to Jiaming.

Jiaming looked at the problematic plant and sneered inwardly, thinking, "This person is definitely suspicious."

It was unclear whose side this person was on. A glint of light flashed in her lowered eyes. She made up her mind that she would have Xiao He keep a close eye on this person and find out who was behind her.

Her movements were seamless and natural; she took the problematic plant, placed it in the hole Xiao Hezi had dug, straightened it, and waited for Hongtao to cover it with soil.

And so, after she planted all four problematic plants out of the pile, she clearly sensed that the maid secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Then they stopped fawning over her and instead joined in planting plants or seeds, no longer doing the simple task of handing out plants.

While the servant wasn't looking, Jiaming made a gesture as if she had grabbed some seeds, and then secretly planted the two seeds that she had taken and which had been nurtured by her special ability in the middle of the four plants.

As the saying goes, many hands make light work, and since there wasn't much to plant, the job was quickly completed.

After the two maids finished bowing to Jiaming and accepted the reward from Hongtao, they left.

Jiaming watched the two figures leave, then called out to Xiao Hezi, who was also about to leave. After signaling to Hongtao not to let anyone get close, she whispered, "Xiao Hezi, try to find out which side that maid who just handed me the flowers and herbs was in contact with."
