Gao Wuyong suppressed his laughter with all his might and replied in a low voice, "Yes, sir!"
Then, Gao Wuyong said to Hongxuan, "Fourth Prince, please!"
A bewildered Hongxuan, clutching a small piece of pastry in his hand, followed Gao Wuyong out in a daze.
After everyone else was left in the study, Fourth Master no longer suppressed his smile. With a faint smile, Fourth Master looked very much like Hongxuan.
But it's not quite the same. The Fourth Prince, with his aloof and cold demeanor, has a smile that's not as warm and gentle as Hongxuan's, but rather quite stunning.
As he ate his snacks, the Fourth Master thought about what Hongxuan had just said and about Honghui.
He suddenly felt that the pastry in his mouth tasted different, somewhat bitter. His eldest brother, such an optimistic, strong, and kind person, alas, why did illness keep finding him!
He put down the snack in his hand, stood up, walked to the window, and looked at the night view outside.
Unable to hold back, he let out another long sigh.
He stepped out of the study, followed by eunuchs and guards, and went to Honghui's courtyard.
Inside the room, separated by a screen, his eldest brother was very thin, and coughing sounds could be heard from the other side of the screen from time to time.
Fourth Master composed himself, not showing his heavy heart, lest he give Honghui a bad impression and affect his mood for recuperation.
After the father and son talked for a while, the Fourth Prince told him to rest well, then left the house, walked out of Honghui's courtyard, and headed towards the Duanyuan Fujin.
Upon arriving at the main courtyard, the Fujin was surprised to see the Fourth Prince. Her dark circles under her eyes flashed with surprise. It wasn't the day the Prince regularly came to the main courtyard. Why was he here?
Immediately, he was startled again, clutching his chest and urgently asking, "Master, is it Honghui...?"
Fourth Master nodded, "It's all about Honghui."
Upon hearing this, the princess almost fainted.
"Fujin, Fujin!" Fourth Prince hurriedly took Fujin's limp body and called out. At this moment, he also realized that Fujin had misunderstood, so he hurriedly explained, "Honghui is still the same as before, nothing happened."
After hearing this, the princess finally caught her breath.
The Fourth Prince helped his wife sit in a chair. After the maid fed her some tea, she remained silent.
After the Princess Consort rested for a while and regained her composure, the Fourth Prince said, "It was my words that caused you to misunderstand."
The princess consort, her face haggard, replied, "It has nothing to do with you, sir. It's just that I was too worried about Honghui and misunderstood."
"Sigh!" Fourth Master sighed and advised, "I will keep an eye on Honghui, but you still need to take care of yourself and get some rest."
The princess consort gave a perfunctory reply.
When the Fourth Prince saw this, he immediately understood that the Fujin (wife) had only agreed on the surface; in private, she was still worried and anxious about Honghui.
Well, he couldn't persuade him, and since Fourth Master didn't say anything, he began to explain his purpose for coming.
“Honghui doesn’t have a very good appetite. I think Guarjia’s cooking skills are quite good.”
When the Fujin heard this, her expression turned somewhat unpleasant. Although she felt that Guarjia might not have any bad intentions, she was not prepared to use her own son to test that extremely low possibility.
Therefore, although Guarjia was a good cook, she did not allow her children to eat her cooking, because if something went wrong, it would be terrible.
The Fourth Prince could tell from the unpleasant look on his wife's face that she had misunderstood.
He didn't mean what the Fujin thought, so he didn't care and continued, "The master asked Gao Wuyong to find a cook with good skills and have her learn from Guarjia Shi for a month or two, so that she can cook for Honghui."
Upon hearing the Fourth Prince's words, the Fujin's expression immediately softened.
She pondered for a moment. Even if the person that Master had Gao Wuyong personally selected went to the Guarjia clan for a month or two, she thought that he probably wouldn't be won over by the Guarjia clan of Taoyuan and defect to them, which would be detrimental to Hui'er!
Thinking about it, the princess's expression became somewhat uncertain again.
Seeing her expression, the Fourth Prince knew that his wife was still hesitating.
After thinking about it carefully, he quickly realized what the princess was worried about.
He scoffed at his wife's concerns.
He understood the Guarjia clan; why would they stoop to such a thing? She was a bit vengeful, retaliating against anyone who offended her, but she almost never targeted children.
Moreover, the people that the master carefully selected are still his people; they wouldn't be so easily bought off.
But the Princess Consort didn't think so. Of course, the Princess Consort didn't know that the Fourth Prince trusted Jiaming to such an extent; otherwise, she probably wouldn't be in her high position as Princess Consort, so coldly watching her continue to be trusted by the Fourth Prince.
After all, the Fourth Prince loves the Fourth Prince and the Fifth Prince. If even their mother, Lady Guarjia, is trusted to such an extent, compared to her own trust in the Prince, the sense of crisis she feels will make her unable to bear it, and she will forget her own warnings and take action against Lady Guarjia.
"If you're worried, send someone to keep an eye on things and make sure the cook learns properly," the Fourth Prince said coldly to his wife.
The princess was focused on the meaning behind the fourth prince's words and ignored his cold tone.
He happily agreed, "Let's do it your way, Master. Let Yao Huang go and keep an eye on things."
The Fourth Prince's words were meant to be a sarcastic remark to his wife, but unexpectedly, she agreed without a second thought.
The Fourth Prince's expression grew increasingly cold and hard. However, looking at his wife's haggard face and dark circles under her eyes, he could tell that she was suffering from worry and concern for Honghui.
Thinking of Honghui again, a trace of sadness flashed across Fourth Master's eyes, but he quickly returned to normal.
Fine, for Hui'er's sake, I'll let it go.
He didn't want to stay any longer, so he said, "I still have things to do in my study."
The princess consort bowed to the fourth prince to bid him farewell.
Fourth Master flicked his sleeve and left.
