Chapter 476 Hongxuan's Wedding

When Hongxuan heard about this, he wanted to laugh. He didn't dare to laugh in front of Emperor Kangxi, but in private, he patted Hongxu's head without any restraint and said with a laugh, "Sixth brother, you're amazing!"

Emperor Kangxi was unhappy, and of course he wanted to make others unhappy as well.

Especially the fourth prince. Emperor Kangxi was biased; he favored Hongxuan, and when he was unhappy, he wouldn't vent his anger on him. He specifically summoned the fourth prince to the garden, and before the fourth prince could even figure out what it was about, he was given a severe scolding by the old man.

Later, when the Fourth Prince learned of his Sixth Prince's great achievements, he remained silent.

That day, when he went to Taoyuan to see Jiaming, he couldn't help but stare at Jiaming's belly.

Jiaming asked in confusion, "Master, why are you staring at my belly? I'm not pregnant."

The Fourth Prince blurted out, "Isn't your belly quite special? Otherwise, every prince who comes out of your belly will be a troublemaker for me."

Jiaming: "...Does Master mean, Xu'er, that he tricked you?"

Jiaming's eyes lit up, and she couldn't help but ask, "Could it be that Xu'er did something in the palace?"

The Fourth Master glared at Jiaming, and Jiaming immediately suppressed her expression of great interest and curiosity.

With a strong will to survive, she said, "I just want to know what Xu'er did wrong so that when he comes back, I can find the right direction to educate him."

After snorting, Fourth Master still told Jiaming, though his face was a little dark. "Xu'er is too bold. She actually picked some of Father's favorite flowers."

Jiaming: "...Xu'er is not the kind of person who would pull up someone else's flowers and plants without their permission."

The Fourth Prince said with a serious expression, "Father Emperor told him that after he finishes planting in the courtyard where Hongxuan lives, he can choose any piece of land in the garden to plant."

As for the tone, Jiaming felt a sense of pleasure for some reason.

Jiaming scrutinized Fourth Master's face, but still couldn't discern anything.

The Fourth Prince glared at Jiaming and said obsequiously, "You really need to teach Hongxu a lesson. He can't just take whatever his father tells him to do and expect him to do whatever he wants..."

Blah blah blah, Fourth Master is so long-winded.

As Jiaming listened, she began to get a headache, but Fourth Master felt refreshed.

When Hongxu returned from Changchun Garden, Jiaming felt something was wrong.

Fourth Master had no intention of disciplining Hongxu at all; his punishment was clearly just a formality.

Compared to all the things Xuan'er and Jing'er had done to him before, this punishment was simply insignificant.

Hongjing was frustrated. Why was he reprimanded by his grandfather for the same offense against his father, but his sixth brother received such a light punishment?

Hongxuan understood in the blink of an eye, while Hongjing, after being depressed for a while, also realized what was going on.

"So, it turns out that the one who was really tricked by the sixth brother was actually Grandpa Huang!"

Jiaming, who had also figured it out, said speechlessly, "So, sir, I didn't mishear your tone at the time; it was definitely pleasant."

It wasn't just the Fourth Prince who was watching the spectacle of Emperor Kangxi's death. His brothers, upon learning that their father had been tricked by their casual remark and that their favorite flowers and plants had been lost, secretly felt a sense of smug satisfaction.

Tsk, even the old man gets tricked by that little brat, and in the end he has nothing to say but to accept it in frustration, haha!

After a while, Hongxu also moved to live in the front yard.

In the fifty-ninth year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign, Hongxuan's wedding, which had been delayed for a year, finally took place.

The Prince Yong's Mansion was bustling with activity, but unfortunately, this liveliness had nothing to do with Jiaming.

Even though she was Hongxuan's biological mother, the other women congratulated the Fujin (the wife of the deceased prince).

For a moment, Jiaming felt a little depressed.

But she quickly regulated her emotions.

That evening, Fourth Master, who was very happy about his son's wedding, accepted all the toasts from his brothers.

As for the others, they dared not offer Fourth Master a toast.

Even so, Fourth Master still got drunk.

The Fourth Master, reeking of alcohol, was brought to Peach Garden by Su Peisheng, whom he had instructed beforehand. On the way, they encountered other people from the backyard who came to intercept the Fourth Master, but Su Peisheng remembered his master's instructions, stopped the people who came to intercept him, and personally escorted the Fourth Master to Peach Garden.

In the Peach Blossom Courtyard, Jiaming had no idea that such a thing had happened on the way Fourth Master was brought here.

Jiaming quickly helped Fourth Master sit down in a chair and had someone bring over the hangover soup that she had specially ordered prepared in advance.

Then, she ordered someone to bring hot water, and personally wrung out a towel to wipe the Fourth Master's face and hands.

The warm handkerchief did nothing to rouse the Fourth Master.

When the hangover soup arrived, Jiaming personally brought it over and fed it to Fourth Master.

The hangover soup worked quite well; after a while, Fourth Master sobered up a bit.

When Fourth Master took a bath, Jiaming personally wiped his back. After Fourth Master came out of the bath, he was more awake.

Perhaps because he wasn't completely sober yet, or perhaps because the Fourth Master was too happy, he chattered on and on to Jiaming for a long time.

From the moment Hongxuan was born, through his gradual growth, to his marriage to his wife, the Fourth Prince recounted his memories to Jiaming, bit by bit.

This was the only time Jiaming didn't find Fourth Master's rambling annoying. She even joined in his rambling, chatting and reminiscing about Hongxuan's life from childhood to adulthood.

It was well past midnight when the two of them gradually stopped, felt sleepy, and finally went to sleep.

The next day, early in the morning, Fourth Master returned to the front yard.

Hongxuan led his newly arrived wife to the front courtyard, where she bowed and offered tea to the Fourth Prince.

The Fourth Prince didn't say anything, but told them to treat each other with respect. Then, he gave the woman a jade ruyi as a gift.

Then, Hongxuan took his wife to the Duan Courtyard to pay his respects and offer tea to the Fourth Prince's wife.
