Chapter 249 Delayed Again and Again

"Master!" Hongtao swallowed back her words before she could finish speaking, and immediately supported Jiaming, who was vomiting, to prevent her from collapsing due to weakness caused by vomiting.

While supporting the person with one hand, Hongtao skillfully placed the other hand on Jiaming's back and gently patted it.

Jiaming, who was vomiting, perhaps because she was used to vomiting, found herself having the energy to think randomly as she vomited.

I never expected that the Fourth Prince would be like this. Knowing how hard his pregnancy was, he complained that I was holding him back and just abandoned me, riding away on his horse!

Jiaming was heartbroken, upset, and being unreasonable, but she didn't realize it at all.

Perhaps it was because of her pregnancy that she had emotional fluctuations and a tendency to overthink things. She didn't delve into why the Fourth Prince thought it was too slow and rode off on his own. Instead, she kept dwelling on how the Fourth Prince had disliked them, abandoned them, and left on his own, which made her feel upset and resentful.

After finally finishing vomiting, Jiaming regained her composure, but her spirits did not recover as usual. She remained listless, seemingly still vomiting.

Hongtao lifted the carriage curtain to dissipate the unpleasant odor, unaware of Jiaming's unusual behavior. As the curtain was partially lifted, she turned and opened her mouth, preparing to continue what she hadn't finished saying.

Suddenly the carriage stopped, and Hongtao hurriedly shut her mouth, swallowing back the words she was about to say.

"Red Peach, look what's going on. Why did the carriage stop at this time?" You should know that this is usually not the time for the group to rest.

Red Peach, whose words had been cut off again, immediately accepted the order to go and investigate.

As soon as the carriage door opened, an old woman stepped out and saw another carriage parked nearby. Her red peach-shaped eyes narrowed slightly as she quickly searched her memory for this person.

She quickly remembered, opened her squinted eyes, and immediately turned to Jiaming in the carriage, saying, "Your Highness, this servant saw Li Mama from Consort De's quarters."

"Oh?" Jiaming immediately leaned slightly out of the carriage door and glanced over. Sure enough, it was Li Mama, the maidservant of Consort De. But what was she doing here?

Did Consort De send her to apologize on behalf of her son, the Fourth Prince, for abandoning her and for being a burden to her?

Although she got stuck on a particular point, she didn't always dwell on it. Thinking of her son, Jiaming suddenly remembered Hongxuan.

Previously, Hongxuan had always been taken care of by the Fourth Prince. Now that the Fourth Prince has left, he still complains that he is a burden and too slow. How could the Fourth Prince not complain about Hongxuan, who is such a tiny little child? Thinking about it this way, Hongxuan has also been abandoned.

Since Hongxuan wasn't with me, I figured he must be with Consort De. After all, Consort De was the Fourth Prince's mother, and she had always been very kind to Hongxuan.

Just then, Granny Li finally arrived in front of her carriage.

"This old servant greets Princess Guarjia!"

When Li Mama bowed, Jiaming in the carriage immediately turned aside and only half accepted it. After all, Li Mama was Consort De's confidante, while she was just a princess and had to give her some face.

"Granny Li, I don't know why you've come here. What are your orders, Your Highness?" Jiaming asked politely, sitting upright in the carriage.

Of course, what she really wanted to ask was whether Hongxuan was with Consort De, and how he was doing...

"This old servant has come to deliver a message to Your Highness." Granny Li did not become arrogant or lose her composure because Jiaming gave her face. She still said respectfully, "Her Majesty has sent this old servant to summon Your Highness."

At this point, Granny Li paused, then, thinking of Prince Hongxuan who was with her master, she added, "The prince is also with the Empress now; you can see him when you go there."

Jiaming nodded, then asked, "Shall we go now?"

Granny Li nodded and said, "Yes!"

Upon hearing this, Jiaming looked down at her clothes and, finding nothing amiss, nodded and said, "Then let's go now!"

As she spoke, she gestured for Granny Li to get into the carriage. After Granny Li got into the carriage, Granny Li instructed the driver to drive the carriage slowly forward, approaching Consort De's carriage.

"We've arrived!" came the coachman's voice from outside the carriage.

With Hongtao's help, Jiaming got off the carriage, walked a few steps, and then got into Consort De's huge carriage.

Upon entering the carriage, Jiaming's first impression was that the decor was elegant and comfortable, and the carriage itself was spacious.

She glanced quickly again and noticed out of the corner of her eye that her son was sitting next to Consort De. She lowered her eyes, stepped forward, and immediately bowed respectfully to Consort De to greet her.

"They've arrived!" Consort De gestured to the table opposite her and said calmly, "Please sit down!"

Upon hearing this, Jiaming sat down as instructed by Consort De.

Just as I sat down, a little person with a bright, sunny, and warm smile suddenly appeared in front of me, "Mother!"

"Sigh!" Jiaming responded gently.

After receiving a response from Jiaming, the little one grabbed her sleeve and sat down next to her.

Upon seeing this, Consort De exchanged a few jokes with Jiaming, and then chatted with Hongxuan for a while. As Hongxuan spoke, the conversation turned to the Fourth Prince. When the Fourth Prince was mentioned, Consort De suddenly remembered why she had sent Guarjia over.

"Since the fourth prince is not here now, if you have any difficulties, please tell me."

"Thank you for your concern, Your Majesty!" Jiaming said obediently.

“You seem quite well-behaved. Fourth Brother isn’t the type to cause trouble either. I wonder who Hongxuan got his lively personality from.”

Jiaming: What does Consort De mean by that? Hongxuan doesn't seem like herself, nor like the Fourth Prince. Does she suspect that Hongxuan isn't...?

"His lively nature is a good thing; it shows that Hongxuan is in good health." After a pause, Consort De sighed softly and changed the subject, "It's a pity about the eldest prince, Honghui!"

Jiaming: "..." How did we end up talking about Prince Honghui again? The topic changed a bit too quickly, she didn't understand.
