"Fourth Brother, you're finally back!" Hongjing excitedly rushed towards Hongxuan and hugged him around the waist.
Hongxuan patted Hongjing's head and replied with a smile, "Yes, you're back."
"That's great! Fourth Brother, you said you'd come back! You've been with me for two days!" Hongjing lifted his head from Hongxuan's chest, looked up at Hongxuan, and exclaimed expectantly.
Hongxuan paused in stroking Hongjing's head, his smile stiffening slightly.
"What's wrong, Fourth Brother?" Hongjing asked, then suddenly thought of a possibility and said angrily, "You're not going back on your word and aren't planning to stay with me, are you?"
Hongxuan chuckled dryly and explained in a low voice, "Well, my cousins Hongxi and Hongyu invited me to go horseback riding, so, could you...?"
"No!" Hongjing interrupted Hongxuan before he could finish speaking, and his arms tightened around Hongxuan's waist.
"Tsk, so tight! Like he's afraid I'll leave right now." Hongxuan muttered under his breath as he pried Hongjing's hands off him.
"I'm just afraid you'll leave soon." Hongjing said, continuing to hold her tightly with both hands, no matter how much Hongxuan tried to pry her away, she wouldn't loosen her grip at all.
Seeing this, Hongxuan gave up.
He put down the hand that was pulling Hongjing and said, "Don't worry, we won't leave right away. We've already discussed it, and we'll go tomorrow afternoon."
Upon hearing this, Hongjing immediately felt relieved and loosened his grip on Hongxuan's waist.
"So, tomorrow morning, your fourth brother can still spend half a day with you." Hongxuan said, hoping that his younger brother would be happy to hear that he could spend half a day with him and would let it go.
Upon hearing this, Hongjing was indeed pleased, and a smile returned to his face. But then he realized something: "But Fourth Brother, you said you would stay with me for two days. You've been gone for half a day, so there's only one and a half days left."
Hongxuan sighed, wondering why his younger brother was so difficult to deal with.
"So how do you want your brother to make it up to you?" Hongxuan asked Hongjing, then changed the subject and said, "Let me make it clear first, Fourth Brother will definitely keep the appointment I made with my cousins."
As he said these words, he began to think about which of his treasured possessions he could use to compensate his younger brother Hongjing, and he would be satisfied with that.
Upon hearing about the compensation, Hongjing's eyes lit up, and he indeed began to ponder his brother's treasured possessions.
But then, after his eyes darted around, he realized that another idea in his mind was also good, since he had thought about it too.
For a moment, Hongjing was torn between the two options.
"What, haven't you decided yet?" Hongxuan asked.
Hongjing looked up at Hongxuan expectantly, "Fourth Brother, may I make two requests?"
two? !
Hongxuan's expression stiffened!
Then he'll bleed even more! That won't do!
He quickly shook his head, saying, "No, you can only make one request."
"Oh!" Hongjing lowered his head in disappointment, bit his lip, then looked up and said, "Then I'll go too."
"What?" Hongxuan blinked at Hongjing.
Hongjing: "Tomorrow afternoon, Fourth Brother, please take me with you."
Hongxuan hesitated. Should he agree or not?
Hongjing's eyes darted around, and he said slyly, "If you don't agree, I'll keep bothering you and making a fuss. Besides, you said you have one request, and I want this compensation."
Hongxuan: "..."
Hongjing: "Fourth Brother, you just said you'd make it up to me. You're not going to go back on your word again, are you? Humph!"
Hongxuan tried to refuse, saying, "Fourth Brother agreed. If Father doesn't allow it, you can't go out with him."
Hongjing was shrewd. "Don't lie to me. Fourth Brother, you should talk to Father. Father will definitely allow it."
Hongxuan: "..." What else could he do but agree in the end.
"Yay!" Hongjing jumped up happily.
Looking at the happy Hongjing, Hongxuan specially instructed him, "Then you must listen to your fourth brother."
"Yes!" Hongjing nodded heavily.
After agreeing on the terms, Hongxuan took Hongjing to see the Fourth Prince and told him about it. After the Fourth Prince learned who they were going with and where they were going, he agreed.
Then, the father and his two sons went to the Peach Garden together.
It took almost a month before Jiaming finally saw Hongxuan. She showered him with concern and care, and then pulled over Hongjing, who was pouting and looking a little jealous, to also shower him with concern and care.
This time, he wasn't jealous.
Hongxuan and the Fourth Prince were speechless.
"Mommy, Fourth Brother said he's taking me horseback riding tomorrow afternoon! Hehe!" the little guy boasted to Jiaming.
Jiaming looked at Hongxuan, who nodded, indicating that there was such a thing.
Immediately, she looked at the Fourth Master and asked, "You also allow it?"
Fourth Master nodded slightly and said, "With Hongxuan watching over things, I can rest assured."
Jiaming was naturally reassured that Hongxuan was taking care of Hongjing, so she didn't ask any more questions. Instead, she patted Hongjing's head and instructed him, "You must listen to your fourth brother and not be naughty, okay?"
She gave these instructions simply because she wanted the little guy to be more obedient and not cause trouble for Hongxuan. Although she believed that Hongxuan could handle it, it would be better to cause him less trouble.
"I won't be naughty!" Hongjing said confidently.
"That's good."
Hongjing blinked, then suddenly asked curiously, "Father, Fourth Brother, I can ride a horse, Mother, can you?" After all, he had never seen his mother ride a horse before.
He had seen his fourth brother and father ride big horses; they were really impressive.
Jiaming paused for a moment, then casually changed the subject, saying, "By the way, what would you like to eat? I'll cook for you later."
Hongxuan lowered his head, his eyes crinkling into a smile, and he secretly smiled.
Fourth Master pretended to drink tea, and a smile played on his lips as the teacup partially obscured his face.
