Chapter 4 Let Her Go Back

Chapter 4 Let Her Go Back

"Wait! Give me the shovel!" Yun Zhao shouted harshly, his eyes fixed on the strange new soil under the crabapple tree.

Zhou Si's eyes gleamed with ferocity, and he stepped forward to block the way. "Yun Zhao! His Majesty only allows you to search the study! Don't be so presumptuous!"

"Master Zhou, why are you so panicked?" Yun Zhao sneered, his tone tinged with sarcasm. "Whose dog are you anyway? Are you scared? Are you afraid of digging out something your master can't see in public?!"

She suddenly snatched the sword from the waist of the imperial guard next to her, rushed to the tree regardless of everything, and smashed the heavy hilt of the sword hard into the soft soil!

"Stop her!" Zhou Si was furious, and several personal soldiers immediately pounced on her.

The cold blade instantly touched the slender neck!

Yun Zhao backhanded the sword towards herself, a stinging pain accompanied by a stream of warm liquid. "If anyone dares to move again, I'll splatter the Su Mansion with blood!" Her voice was hoarse and resolute, her eyes a maddened look of a trapped beast. "You want to kill me? Send His Majesty down! Let him see for himself what's buried in the mansion of his loyal subject!"

[You dog emperor! If you don't come, the evidence will rot under your feet!]

"Yun Zhao, you're looking for me?" Xiao Jin's figure appeared at the end of the corridor in a cold voice, like a sudden frost. "Alright, I'll let you die knowingly."

The sword hanging over your head finally falls!

Yun Zhao threw away his blood-stained sword as if exhausted, and fell to his knees: "Your Majesty! The evidence is under this crabapple tree! Just dig and you'll find it!"

Prime Minister Su, who had always been as calm as a mountain, finally showed a trace of a crack on his face, and his lips tightened almost imperceptibly.

[Su thief, your death has come! ]

Xiao Jin turned to Prime Minister Su with a glare as sharp as a knife. His tone was indistinguishable from emotion. "Prime Minister Su, the Duke suspects you of coveting the Yun family's mineral deposits. What do you say?"

"This old minister... I would never dare to do that!" Prime Minister Su bowed and tried to keep his voice steady.

"I don't believe it either." Xiao Jin nodded slightly, his eyes deep and unfathomable. "That's why I came to verify it. Su Qing, do you mind if my people... dig it up and take a look?"

The word "dig open" carries an invisible weight.

Prime Minister Su's body tensed imperceptibly, and he saluted, saying, "Your Majesty, the mining map was stolen from the Duke's Mansion. I, this old minister, am willing to do my best to help find it..."

[Heh! The old fox has given in! I won't allow you to dig anymore! Did you hear that, you foolish ruler?!]

The corners of Xiao Jin's lips curled up in a faint, cold arc. "The Duke loves his daughter so much that he has spoiled her to the point of not knowing her place. Please forgive me, Su Qing. It is my fault for disturbing your mansion today."

He changed the subject, and said with a hint of comfort, "Let Mingli come to the palace to keep the Eighth Princess company some other day, okay?"

[Bah! You're pretending to be a wise ruler and saving face for this old thief now?! Hypocrisy!]

Yun Zhao was filled with great disappointment and cold irony.

This is how the monarch and his subjects protect each other!

But at least, her life was saved temporarily.

She lowered her eyes to hide the emotions churning in them, and dug her nails deep into her palms.

This is a disgusting relationship between ruler and subject!

Prime Minister Su bowed in agreement, and a tense search was easily concluded.

Yun Zhao was in a state of dismay and disheartened, and he stopped arguing.

She knew that she couldn't bring down Su Ze today.

Xiao Jin's gaze finally swept towards her coldly: "Return to the palace!"

He nodded slightly to Su Xiang: "Sorry to bother you."

Su Yuan smiled broadly, his attitude extremely humble: "Your Majesty's visit is a great blessing to the Su family!"

Xiao Jin suddenly glared at Yun Zhao, who was standing there in a daze, and said impatiently, "What? You want to stay for dinner?"

Yun Zhao shuddered, stood up hurriedly, and staggered to follow.

The moment she turned around, she caught a precise glimpse from the corner of her eye - Zhou Si and Su Yuan exchanged a quick glance, and that look contained a sinister and tacit understanding that only they understood.

[Heh! The commander of the Imperial Guards is actually a Su family traitor! Do you know what a tyrant emperor is? Uncle and nephew are in cahoots, and the King of Qin is behind them... I'm afraid they have big plans...]

Yun Zhao's heart was filled with alarm and he felt even colder.

Xiao Jin's footsteps paused imperceptibly, his brows furrowed slightly. What was he trying to achieve? Why was there no sound from behind?

"Your Majesty?" Su Yuan noticed it keenly and asked immediately.

"...Nothing." Xiao Jin had no expression on his face, and his pace suddenly quickened. "Prime Minister Su, please stay!"

As soon as he walked out of the oppressive gate of the Su Mansion, Yun Zhao almost instinctively rushed towards the Duke's Mansion.

After surviving the disaster, she just wanted to return to her family immediately!

"Catch her!" Zhou Si's fierce shout was like a venomous snake spitting out its tongue! Several imperial guards pounced on him like eagles!

Yun Zhao's legs went limp, and despair instantly gripped his heart!

[Zhou Si, you bastard! Kill him all!]

At the critical moment, Xiao Jin's cold voice suddenly rang out:

"Let her go back."

The voice was not loud, but it carried an unquestionable pressure that instantly stopped the imperial guards from charging towards it.

Zhou Si was unwilling to give in and said urgently, "Your Majesty! This woman has falsely accused the prime minister. Her crime is unforgivable! How can you let her go?!"

The cold murderous intent enveloped Yun Zhao again, and she almost couldn't stand.

In this suffocating silence, Xiao Jin slowly turned around, his deep, unfathomable gaze like an icicle, piercing Zhou Si. He uttered only four words, yet they weighed a thousand pounds:

"Really?"
