Final remarks
The book is finished.
As a Zhongdeng who has been working in the field of online literature for several years... yes, I firmly refuse to admit that I am an old Deng. I must be Zhongdeng, and I can only be Zhongdeng.
I have completed the book several times, but I don't feel as sad as I did the previous times.
Because the story of the whole book has been steadily moving towards the predetermined ending in the following months, and the number of words updated daily is very shameful, so I don’t feel relieved.
Very calm, very happy, very satisfied.
Satisfaction does not come from grades, although this book is indeed my best one so far.
More from:
I finally finished writing a complete story at the pace I envisioned!
The previous book, as well as the book before that, were both very regrettable in this regard. Due to poor performance, after reaching the climax of the book, they were forced to shorten the length, cut out many side stories, and only push the most core main storyline to the end.
At that time, I was thinking, when will I be able to finish the story in the outline normally according to my own ideas without being bound by grades?
I'm glad this book did that.
When I started writing the book, I estimated that it would be completed at 2.5 million words. When I was writing the third volume, I adjusted it and estimated that it would be completed at 2.7 million words.
The final word count for the completed novel was 2.66 million. It perfectly fell within the expected range and was…
Because of this satisfaction, there is no major regret in this book.
Well, there are still some regrets, mainly technical issues... Many places were not handled well due to my own insufficient writing skills.
Let’s briefly review the advantages and disadvantages of the creation of the book "The Empress".
Well-written parts: Volume 1, the second half of Volume 2, and Volume 4.
From the perspective of the entire book, the plot design is its strong point, and the parts involving court intrigues and low-level martial arts are its strong points. There are a few decent characters, and there are a few scenes that really made me excited.
And, although the quality has fluctuated, it has not collapsed overall.
As an aside, when I was writing books a few years ago, I was very afraid to write about topics that had a lot of supporting roles, especially the female lead, because I was worried that I wouldn't be able to establish an important role and cause the book to fail.
But in this book, the most important female protagonist, the Empress, is at least qualified, and her emotional scenes are also improved compared to my own.
This is something I am very proud of: although I am still far behind the big players, I have improved compared to myself.
There are naturally many disadvantages:
The quality of the first twenty to thirty chapters of the entire book is significantly higher than that of the latter chapters, which means that the latter chapters are not as time-consuming as the beginning.
I wrote a few poison points and gained a little experience.
The rhythm of the dozens of chapters before the book was put on the shelves was not tight enough, especially the connection and transition parts, which were a bit dragged out. This is also one of the reasons why the reading rate of the new book increased very slowly.
The ending structure of the first volume was not well designed. The content of the second volume was not carefully planned in advance due to laziness, which led to a large drop in subscriptions after the first volume ended, although it was later picked up again...
The quality of the third volume itself is not a big problem, but due to the problems with the overall structure of the book, it is not very good. The sense of substitution and anticipation is not enough, and there is no sense of excitement.
The characterization of some characters is not successful. The whole book is still too spiritual and too artificial...
And so on and so forth.
And updates... well, the update rhythm of each of my books seems to be like this, sliding into the abyss little by little... Fortunately, I can still guarantee a daily update of four...
Oh, there is another advantage, I didn't take advantage of the fact that this book was doing well and forcefully lengthened it to make money... I hope I won't regret it in the future haha...
In short, there are many disadvantages, but also advantages.
In the period after I finish writing this book, I will spend some time systematically reviewing it, summarizing the gains and losses of my experience in writing it, and strive to do better with the next one.
Speaking of the next book…
The subject matter was decided long ago, and while it has some similarities and some differences with this book, it is definitely not a "copy and paste" or a rewrite of the book's outline. I can guarantee that.
But the new book will not be published immediately. I need some time to calm down and make good preparations.
Many problems in the book "The Empress" are caused by insufficient preparation in the early stages. I need to learn from this lesson.
I strive to make this book the starting point of a stage in my writing career, rather than the end point.
In this increasingly competitive industry, you must have a correct attitude and regard yourself as a pure newcomer every time you open a book.
As for news about the new book, if you are interested, you can go to Douyin and follow the author by searching for "Shiwancaituan". During the period of finishing the book, I may have nothing to do so I can do a live broadcast and chat to relieve boredom...
After opening a new book, a single chapter notification will also be issued in this book.
As for the follow-up extra chapters, I can't guarantee that I'll write them, but I don't think I'll make any promises. Thinking back, the last time I wrote an extra chapter was when I wrote "A Million Possibilities" on another account. After I finished the book, I wrote one on the official account, every few months. Then, when I saw readers commenting that I'd "resurrected," I'd laugh in front of my computer...
That was my unforgettable youth...
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their support along the way. They have given me continuous royalties, allowing me to finish writing the story in my heart.
I have no way to repay you, I just want to write the next book better and give back to everyone.
