Chapter 28 Low-Level Zombies

Zombies? No, they've seen dozens, if not hundreds, of zombies in the past few days. The zombies' hands are withered and brittle, while the hands that stick out from inside the door are muscular, but their skin has an unnatural black tinge.

Brother Long immediately rushed over and pulled Yan Xiangxiang away, who was frozen in place, terrified.

He was internally scoffing: "Seriously, we've fought so many zombies, why are you making such a fuss? Is it really necessary to be this scared?"

The moment he turned his head, a strange face came into view, and he immediately felt his scalp tingle and his limbs stiffen.

He finally understood why Yan Xiangxiang had reacted so strongly.

Holy crap!

The person in front of me... let's just call him a person for now, was completely black, with only a few sparse tufts of hair on his head, swaying precariously in the breeze.

His skin was covered in strange, protruding bumps, densely covering his entire face. His eye sockets were empty, with countless tiny white worms frantically wriggling inside, and many more lining up to move back and forth between his eye sockets.

"vomit--"

Click—

A soft cracking sound was heard...

Risk Assessment: Four stars!

Brother Long quickly realized: Yan Xiangxiang's spatial confinement had shattered!

He unleashed his fire-based supernatural power with one hand and grabbed Yan Xiangxiang's arm with the other, then turned and ran as fast as he could!

"Get in the car!"

This monster broke the spatial confinement in less than a minute! This is something they simply cannot handle!

Everyone finally realized something was wrong. He Chao, who was closest to the car door, quickly opened the door and slipped inside.

Neither the level two spatial ability nor the fire ability could stop the monster's progress; in fact, it was faster than an ordinary person!

The people in the car were anxious and reached out to pull them back. Just as the monster was about to grab Yan Xiangxiang's hand, a hand suddenly blocked it and grabbed the monster's wrist.

The monster looked puzzled and slowly turned toward the source of the resistance.

Lin Xi's stomach churned violently, and stomach acid surged up her throat, bringing a burning sensation.

She suppressed the urge to vomit and pulled hard.

Lin Xi: !

It can't be pulled apart!

Just as they were at an impasse, thick thorny vines suddenly sprouted from the ground.

It's Sister Ling!

Lin Xi grabbed his wrist, turned around and went behind the monster, pulled out a dagger from her pocket, and stabbed it into the monster's head.

The monster was incredibly agile. It ducked to dodge, clenched its fist, and revealed faint black scales on its arm. With a snap, the thorny vines were torn apart.

He quickly grabbed Lin Xi's hand with his other hand, and with a forceful movement, flung her several meters away.

Lin Xi steadied herself and quickly got up.

Looking towards the SUV, everyone had safely boarded.

"Xiao Xi! Stop hitting him, let's shake him off and run!"

—Is this a low-level zombie?

[Yes, system notification: Low-level zombies will devour ordinary zombies to increase their level.]

Lin Xi was stunned when she heard this.

What does that mean? Is she going to lose even her only advantage as a zombie?

There are four days left in the mission.

But what's the use of waiting another four days? She won't become stronger, and even if she encounters another low-level zombie, the result will be the same.

Why not take a gamble now and try to kill him and take the crystal core?

Lin Xi quickly glanced around. This place was too close to the SUV, and the zombie was too powerful, making it easy to accidentally injure others. This was not the best place to make a move.

We need to lead him somewhere else.

It seems there might be no survivors in this safe zone. Perhaps we should lure him inside, at least to keep him away from his companions.

Lin Xi made a quick decision, and the moment the zombies pounced, she immediately turned and fled deeper into the safe zone.

Sure enough, the low-level zombie continued to chase after her relentlessly!

Seeing this, everyone in the car panicked.

Brother Long's expression changed. "What is she doing?"

Jiang Ling pounded on the car window, "Xiao Xi, come back!"

Jiang Yuan's voice choked with emotion, "She wanted to kill this monster alone? That's simply impossible!"

"Don't worry too much. Lin Xi is a zombie too. Aren't zombies supposed to not attack their own kind?"

He Chao looked at her with an extremely unfamiliar gaze, and roared, "Don't you have any conscience? Lin Xi risked her life to save you. Besides, didn't you see? This monster didn't let Lin Xi go just because she's a zombie; it was still chasing her relentlessly! Her situation is far more dangerous than you think!"

Yan Xiangxiang's eyes reddened, and tears rolled down her cheeks. "Why are you yelling at me? Did I ask her to save me? It was clearly your own arrogance and conceit that made you act like a hero. Otherwise, we would have already escaped as soon as she got in the car!"

"Alright! Now is not the time to argue and debate who is right and who is wrong." Uncle Jiang stopped them. "The most important thing right now is to find Lin Xi and the monster."

Lin Xi had escaped to a relatively open area. Judging from the surrounding facilities, it was probably built as a plaza at the time.

Lin Xi stopped in the middle of the huge circular plaza.

A black hand swiftly attacked, and Lin Xi slightly turned her body.

Thanks to the ordinary zombies she practiced with these past few days, she's become much more agile in combat.

Seeing that it had missed its target, the monster bared its teeth in anger and hooked at it again with its fingers forming claws.

When they first arrived at the safe zone, this zombie didn't attack them. Why is it so ferocious now?
