Chapter 37 Taking Advantage of a Crisis

After a while, Da Gang finally opened his eyes, his face still as pale as paper. "Thank you, sister."

Lu Mingxing thought she would give Tang He another dose of medicine.

Little did anyone know, Lin Xi had no such intention.

It wasn't that she didn't intend to save them, but she wanted to keep them as leverage in negotiations with them.

Everyone has witnessed the changes in the large vat, so she has no worries that Tang He won't ask her for help.

Once he speaks, the initiative in the negotiation naturally falls into our hands.

She can make any requests she wants then!

Besides, Tang He had scared her quite a bit in the past, almost giving her a phobia of him. What's wrong with scaring him a little?

Lin Xi secretly rejoiced: Serves him right! Let his mind be tormented by the zombie virus as well, to vent her anger.

Tang He looked unwell.

Lu Mingxing couldn't help but speak up, "Miss, my other companion has also been injured. Could you please give us another dose of medicine?"

Lin Xi was surprised, not expecting that it was Lu Mingxing, not Tang He, who asked for help.

What's even stranger is that this is the first time she's ever seen Lu Mingxing ask for a favor.

It wasn't the cold, apologetic tone; it softened the manner of her voice.

"I'm afraid that won't work." Lin Xi shook her head, feigning difficulty. "I'm just a girl traveling alone, and I only have this much medicine on me. I have to keep some for myself."

"What if something unexpected happens?"

"Brother Ming, forget it." Tang He shook his head. "The organization's medicine should last for a while."

Lu Mingxing did not speak.

The medicine the organization gave them could indeed suppress viral infections caused by ordinary zombies, but judging from the performance of the large vat, it had no way to prevent the virus from higher-level zombies.

Lu Mingxing looked down at the girl in front of him, and when he saw the smile that flashed across her lips, his eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly.

"Tell me, what conditions do you want?"

Lin Xi was taken aback, looking up at the determination in his eyes.

Tang He quickly realized that they wanted to take advantage of them, and his face immediately darkened.

Lin Xi didn't beat around the bush. "I don't want much. I just want a way to protect myself. How about this: you give me all the crystal cores you have, and I'll give you the antiviral drugs."

"You're taking advantage of my misfortune and making exorbitant demands!" Tang He exclaimed angrily.

The importance of zombie crystal cores to people like them who are on missions is self-evident.

More crystal cores mean their abilities can be upgraded to a higher level.

This also means they have a greater chance of surviving.

Wanting all of their zombie cores is simply a pipe dream!

“How about this?” Lu Mingxing pondered her words, his voice low. “After you give us the potion, we can escort you all the way back to your destination.”

Lin Xi panicked instantly.

What the heck?

Who asked you to deliver it?

If I actually send it over, won't my identity be exposed?

She tried her best to control herself and said calmly, "No, I don't feel safe being with you guys, you big men."

Lu Mingxing just stared at her calmly, as if he could see through everything about her.

Lin Xi slightly turned to avoid his gaze, and said coldly, "Three low-level zombie crystal cores, we can't give up any more."

How did she know she had three more low-level crystal cores?

Lu Mingxing was shocked.

They cast their inquisitive gaze once more.

"I'll reluctantly give you that mid-level zombie crystal core."

If she hadn't appeared in time to save them, they probably would have been wiped out.

Besides, she was the one who ultimately killed that mid-level zombie, so logically, the mid-level zombie's core should also belong to her.

However, when Lin Xi thought about how she had taken advantage of Lu Mingxing last night and even stolen two low-level zombie crystal cores from him, her last remaining conscience began to call out to her, and she cried and begged her to be a good person.

Tang He was somewhat confused. Was this little girl stupid? One mid-level zombie crystal core was worth at least ten low-level zombie crystal cores.

If she really wanted to improve her strength, she could have just taken the mid-grade crystal core. Why did she only ask for three low-grade crystal cores?

This deal doesn't seem like a good deal at all.

Lu Mingxing naturally knew that although it seemed like she was being aggressive, they were actually the ones who benefited from this situation.

Could it be that she doesn't know that higher-level crystal cores are more useful for enhancing superpowers?

Lin Xi seemed to sense their confusion and explained, "My ability is rather unique; so far, I can only absorb low-level crystal cores, which is why I'm exchanging with you. If you're not willing, I'll take that mid-level crystal core and go find someone else. As for the vaccine, you'll have to fend for yourselves."

Lu Mingxing finally nodded, "Okay."

Although there are still doubts, at least they didn't suffer a loss in this matter.

Lin Xi reached out: "Give it to me! One hand for the crystal core, the other for the medicine."

Without the slightest hesitation, Lu Mingxing took out the three remaining green crystal cores and handed them over.

Lin Xi didn't hesitate; she threw the medicine over and turned to leave.

Despite her seemingly calm demeanor, she started running as soon as she stepped out of the gate!

It felt like there was some monstrous beast lurking behind us.

They got back into the SUV, drove off in a flash.

The three people who came out happened to see the car speeding past on the national highway.

Lu Mingxing and Tang He stopped in their tracks simultaneously.

Da Gang was completely bewildered. "Brother Ming, Xiao He, what's wrong with you two?"
