Chapter 5: You'll Have to Pay the Price

Chu Ranxin had an arrogant look on his face, eagerly waiting for his father to punish Chu Weiyue.

Who would have thought that this matter would be shelved without any further development. My heart felt like it was being cut by a knife and my hands and feet were shaking with hatred.

However, her father's face was livid as he buried his head in his meal without saying a word. Even though she wanted to splash the hot porridge in the bowl on Chu Weiyue's face, she still had to maintain her well-behaved persona.

During the meal, while others felt depressed and uncomfortable eating, Chu Weiyue ate happily and filled her stomach.

I went back to my room and slept for half an hour, then stretched comfortably.

I've been here for several days, but I haven't been able to go out for a walk. This place is shabby and many items are no longer usable. I need to buy some new ones.

The original owner had a small box, and after occupying her body for a few days, he knew everything about her.

If her guess was correct, this should be all the belongings of the original owner.

The moment he opened the box, Chu Weiyue's heart instantly turned cold.

There were only a few pieces of blackened silver and a few worthless relics left by the original owner's mother after her death. There was nothing else.

Chu Weiyue's rage instantly reached her head. She was the eldest daughter of a marquis's mansion, but she was penniless. It was absurd and inhumane!

No need to ask, this must be the work of her father's concubine!

He immediately rolled up his sleeves and went to the accounting office with a heroic and high-spirited look.

There was only one manager in the accounting office. He was sitting in a rocking chair, rocking calmly and enjoying a book with great interest.

With a disdainful snort, Chu Weiyue snatched the book from him and threw it to the ground.

"Let me ask you, why haven't I received my monthly salary in all these years?"

Chu Weiyue put his hands on his waist, looking so fierce as if he wanted to eat someone.

The steward couldn't believe that this was their eldest daughter Chu Weiyue. He was stunned with obvious disbelief in his eyes.

Since Chu Weiyue had always been a coward in the past, he didn't take her seriously this time. He glanced at her indifferently and sighed helplessly: "Miss, you stay at home all the time, what else do you need money for? Recently, the family is not well off. The master said that the whole family must tighten their belts. How can we get the monthly salary?"

These words were clearly an excuse to shirk responsibility, just an excuse to get rid of Chu Weiyue.

While he was not paying attention, he quickly snatched the account book in front of him, which recorded the basic accounts of monthly salary.

The manager's face changed and he immediately stood up and tried to snatch it away, but Chu Weiyue stood up straight and held it high.

The steward was so anxious that he turned around and around: "Miss, give it to me quickly, this is not a joke. If the master and the concubine find out, you will be in big trouble."

"I want to see how you can make me suffer the consequences."

A hint of coldness flashed across Chu Weiyue's eyes, and she kicked him hard in the stomach. The steward lost his balance and fell on his back.

It was clearly written in the account book that everyone in the mansion received a monthly salary, and although the amounts varied, they had never been interrupted over the years.

And she hasn't received any monthly salary since she was given it once more than three years ago.

Chu Weiyue's pupils shrank slightly, and her heart was twisted.

No wonder the original owner had such a hard life. It turned out that more than three years ago, she didn't have even a penny of pocket money except for the most basic food and clothing. This young lady was really the most miserable person in the world!

She threw the account book hard on the manager's face, her eyes full of violence: "If we really want to live frugally, then why am I the only one who does it, and why have all of you been paid? If you don't pay me back all my monthly salary today, I will not forgive you."

Chu Weiyue's face turned dark, and he pointed at the manager's nose and shouted at him.

The people here bully the weak and fear the strong. If you are not a little fierce and ferocious, they will not be afraid at all. It is precisely because of her strength and stubbornness today that the steward dare not drive her away like he did in the past.

Seeing that Chu Weiyue was a big Buddha that he couldn't afford to offend today, the steward got up from the ground and slapped his thigh hard.

"My dear aunt, even if I want to make money, I have to make it. The master needed money a few days ago and took almost all the money in the house. If you really need money urgently, you might as well ask him for some."

A shrewd look flashed in his eyes, and he kicked the ball out.

He knew very well that Chu Weiyue didn't have a very good relationship with his father. Not to mention that he was embarrassed to go, even if he really went, it might end up in an unpleasant mood.

So he had already figured it out. No matter how ferocious Chu Weiyue looked today, he could not give her monthly allowance behind his aunt's back.

Chu Weiyue narrowed his eyes, took a thorough look at the steward, and laughed coldly.

"I'll ask you one last time, are you going to give me my monthly salary or not?"

"I just said, there is no moon silver here! If you want it, go find it..."

Bang!

Before he finished speaking, the steward was slapped hard on the face. He covered his painful cheek and pointed at Chu Weiyue in disbelief: "How dare you do that?"

"Why not? Do I have to choose a specific day to teach a disobedient dog a lesson?"

Chu Weiyue stared with his eyes wide open, and every word that came out of his mouth was like a knife, cutting the steward's face fiercely.

He was so angry that he was shaking all over, but as a servant, it would be unacceptable if he openly attacked Miss Chu Weiyue.

He stamped his feet on the ground in anger and threatened, "Miss, I won't argue with you because you are young and ignorant. If you make things difficult for me again, I will tell your aunt!"

"Then go, go quickly!"

Chu Weiyue raised his head, looking very proud.

"You should have heard about what happened in the front hall today. Chu Ranxin, that little bitch, actually dared to make things difficult for me and secretly reported my bad deeds. In the end, Daddy still sided with me. I advise you to judge the situation, otherwise it will always be you little shrimps who will be beaten to death on the beach!"

Guan Sheng's face changed instantly. What Chu Weiyue said was true. In any struggle full of intrigue, the first ones to be sacrificed are the small shrimps caught in the middle.

They had indeed heard everything that happened in the front hall today...

Chu Weiyue glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, and the corners of her lips lifted up slightly.

These people would like to spread the gossips to the whole capital city whenever there is any disturbance in the family. How could the person in charge not know about such a small matter?

Chu Weiyue stopped and dusted off his clothes, pretending to go out.

"I'm here to ask for your monthly salary to give you a chance. If you really don't give it to me, I won't make it difficult for you. I'm the eldest daughter of a marquis's mansion, but I've fallen to the point of wearing ragged clothes. I'm going to take a walk on the street later. I want to see how the people in the capital will look at me and my father..."
