Chapter 26: I am willing to tie myself up. Tied like this, I can’t escape…
Chapter 26
But the one who said this was Young Master Jinsheng Chen Juansheng, and he was no longer the young man who had quietly watched her in the medicine house.
For Qing Guiyu, nothing Young Master Jinsheng said could possibly make her feel at ease.
At the gang leader's birthday party, Chen Juansheng publicly exposed the smuggling of saltpeter, and blew up all the hidden ships he had designed.
Before leaving, he casually brought up such a huge internal conflict. I believe that within the next ten days or half a month, no one in the Cao Gang will have the time to ask about the murder caused by the golden needle in Yaowang Valley.
To be fair, it did solve some of her troubles, or rather, they were temporarily put on hold due to the forced intervention of Young Master Jin Sheng.
——If you don’t consider that those troubles were all planned by him.
The carriage headed towards Medicine King Valley. Inside, a young man, his eyes covered with black silk, leaned obediently against Qing Guiyu's side. The carriage's path was a bit bumpy on the stone road, and suddenly the shaft sank, and he rested his forehead against her shoulder.
Qing Guiyu ignored him. The bitter fragrance of the young man's robe climbed stubbornly up along the silk ribbons covering his eyes, leaving a few strands of hair mixed with the golden thread and falling in front of her, trembling with the jolt of the carriage.
"Sure enough. 'Return to Medicine King Valley' is the only four words that work in this world."
"Miss Qing was willing to go with me when she heard that she could go into Yaowang Valley to investigate." He whispered beside her, as if talking to himself, or as if sighing.
The black silk blindfold of the young man in black was soaked by the setting sun outside the car window, revealing the outline of his tightly closed brows and eyes beneath the silk, just like a meticulously painted portrait of a handsome Buddhist.
But where in the world could there be such a Buddhist who would plot murder? She thought.
Although there are flaws in the counterfeit gold needle, the special quality of the gold in Yaowang Valley still cannot be explained. If the whole picture is not found out, I am afraid that the water will become more and more muddy.
"Miss Qing is afraid of me."
As if he had read her mind, the blind young man spoke. It was a statement, not a question. So Qing Guiyu remained silent, gazing at the setting sun he could not see.
"You should be afraid of me." This time, I really sighed.
"If Chen Juansheng could do whatever he wanted, he would have wiped out Yaowang Valley long ago—"
"Seriously," she finally couldn't help herself and interrupted him with her head tilted.
"Now you can do whatever you want, isn't that enough? What good will it bring you by becoming an enemy of Medicine King Valley? I've already told you that my tendons are already so weak that I can't extend your life again."
"Ah. Tendon," he said. "Yes," he whispered, as if he had just remembered, and held up a finger, his expression a flicker of realization. Then he tilted his delicate face slightly, looked into her eyes, and asked, "Miss Qing's tendons, how did you break them?"
“It has nothing to do with you.” She said, and then mocked him, “Shen Tianji has his own ingenious plans, so why not think about it yourself.”
"How could I have such magical powers?" He chuckled, with a hint of sadness in his tone.
"It's not easy to calculate the secrets of heaven. How can I know when the cicadas chirping in the trees and the swallows in the clouds will come and go?"
"But it's much simpler to find someone," he coughed twice, and struggled to stand up, his voice low and hoarse.
"People live in this world, what do they want, what do they hope for? My mind is just much uglier than others."
"Well," he paused slightly, as if hesitating.
Then she tilted her head slightly, a faint smile curling up the corners of her lips, leaving a faint arc on his pale face, "Chen Juansheng is always more filthy than others think."
The blind young man raised his hand. His slender fingers looked exceptionally thin in the twilight. Gold threads intertwined with his black hair, flowing down from his fingers like gently swaying water. His face remained delicate, though with an almost transparent pallor due to years of illness. However, beneath the black silk covering his eyes, his features were delicate, his lips pale, as if he were made of fragile porcelain.
"It's very difficult for people to change, Miss Qing." His voice was low and slow, with a hint of a sigh.
This is a complete lie.
Seven years have passed. Not only has Young Master Jin Sheng undergone a drastic transformation, but even Qing Guiyu herself and her senior brothers and sisters have changed a lot.
But it's useless to argue with him about these things.
Qing Guiyu sighed, twirled the bamboo flute, and said to him, "Forget it. You bet that I'm soft-hearted, and I bet that you'll die young."
Young Master Jin Sheng raised his hand to his heart, his lips curled slightly beneath the black silk blindfold. "So Miss Qing will definitely win. She may not be soft-hearted, but I will definitely die young."
The bamboo flute tapped the edge of the chair, making a crisp sound. Qing Guiyu's eyes fell on his face, "I don't think I'm sure to win. But if Chen Tianji is willing to talk nicely, maybe there's room for negotiation."
She thought for a moment and added, "For example, let me guess some riddles, like Gan Sui Bai Ji."
Chen Juansheng laughed when he heard this, and the corners of his lips raised slightly, but with a hint of sarcasm, "Riddle?" His voice was low, as if rolling out from the depths of his throat, with a hint of clear sarcasm, he asked back,
"Do you want me to go find Lu Guiyan directly?"
He sneered, and the chill in his laughter was so piercing that it seemed to freeze the air around him.
"Then Miss Qing might as well just kill me."
Years ago, he and Lu Guiyan had fought a life-or-death battle. She had witnessed that brutal fight firsthand. But all these years, she had never had the chance to ask why. Even Lu Guiyan hadn't mentioned it, leaving her feeling awkward to speak directly.
Now that Chen Juansheng had stirred up this situation, turning this long-standing grudge into a scene of jealousy, she felt even more at a loss for words. So, upon hearing him speak, Qing Guiyu simply smoothed her hair and didn't intend to delve into the details.
No matter what, Young Master Jin Sheng couldn't be trusted. Every word and every action of his was like a carefully woven web, and the slightest inattention would lead to falling into his trap. So she didn't answer, but simply watched him in silence.
Although Shen Juansheng's eyes were blind, he seemed to be able to see through the black silk and see what was in her heart.
"Miss Qing, if you want to kill me, it won't be any harder than before."
The blindfolded young man spoke softly, raised his hands covered with intricate gold threads, put them to his lips, and smiled at her with the corners of his lips slightly raised.
He then opened his mouth, gently hooked the golden thread on his hand with the tip of his tongue, and slowly guided it between his slightly parted teeth. The golden thread wound around and around in his mouth, finally tightly tying it around his wrist.
The silk thread wound around his wrists, and Young Master Jin Sheng used his crystal silk to tightly bind his hands. Finally, his Adam's apple moved slightly, and he gently expelled the silk thread from his mouth, his smile deepening.
The pair of eyes covered by black silk were still gazing at her, with a low voice and a gentle expression, just like a goddess holding her heart and a banished immortal having a spring dream.
"Miss Qing, I'm just tying you up like this, don't be afraid of me, okay?"
There was a hint of pleading in the tone, mixed with a bit of ambiguity, as if inviting her to fall into a mystery.
Qing Guiyu was stunned by him and almost froze.
"No," she hurriedly shook her hands, startled by him, then immediately remembered that he couldn't see, so she quickly continued. "That doesn't have to be the case."
Shen Juansheng slowly shook his head, a few strands of hair scattered from the black silk edge around his eyes. He smiled and said,
"I do, Qing-Miss. Tied like this, I can't escape."
His chest rose and fell slightly under his black clothes, and his breathing was particularly clear amid the noise of the shaking carriage.
"If you're worried, you can tighten it a little more." Young Master Jinsheng said softly, with a hint of panting in his voice, as if he was presenting his fate.
Qing Guiyu was even a little frightened. Even though he couldn't see, this show of weakness by retreating to advance was still frightening.
She began to understand why everyone in the martial arts world feared this frail young man. For the first time, she experienced that the weaker Young Master Jin Sheng looked, the more aggressive he became.
Qing Guiyu was silent for a moment. Chen Juansheng was not impatient, nor did he ask her to reply. He just leaned against her side quietly, blindfolded and with his hands tied.
The carriage continued to jolt forward, then suddenly jerked, jolting her violently and nearly crashing into the wall. Then, from outside came a loud shout, accompanied by the clatter of horse hooves.
At this moment, a whistling arrow came through the air with a sharp whistle and flew straight into the carriage window. Qing Guiyu's mind was as fast as lightning. He raised the bamboo flute in his hand and lightly picked up the tip of the flute. Following the arrow's momentum, he gently knocked the whistling arrow down.
She flicked her fingertips over the needle bag at her waist, and several golden needles were quietly tucked into her palm. She activated her internal Qinggong and was about to leap out of the carriage to meet the enemy. However, just as she moved, she felt a force gently pull at her sleeve. She turned her head and saw it was Shen Jiansheng.
"Let go," she said urgently, trying to break free from his hand. "Stay here for now, let me think of a solution."
Before she finished speaking, she suddenly realized something, and quickly turned around, her skirt swaying slightly, and lowered her head to untie the gold wire binding on his wrists.
Shen Juansheng shook his head. Seeing her leaning closer, he leaned his head over, almost close to her ear, and said softly,
"Miss Qing is afraid that I'm dead."
He murmured to himself, then laughed softly, a small, joyful laugh, as if he were enjoying this sudden crisis. Qing Guiyu looked at him, completely unsure of what he was thinking. So she grabbed his shoulders and shook him hard, trying to sober him up. "Chen Juansheng, are you completely crazy?"
"Perhaps," he continued to smile. Although his eyes were covered by black silk, the subtle curves could still be seen.
"But today is a good day. It would be unlucky if someone died. So, I'll go and persuade them to go back."
After saying this, he slowly stood up, leaned forward, and gently lifted the carriage curtain. The evening light suddenly poured in, bathing his entire tall figure in golden light.
The sudden light made Qing Guiyu squint slightly, but seeing that Shen Juansheng had no reaction, he remembered that he was still blind.
"Shen Yansheng!" she whispered. Even so, she was still a little worried. "Are you going out like this?"
Master Jin Sheng was blindfolded and his hands were tied.
"Yeah." He turned around and said to her with a smile, "That's good."
