Chapter 15
"You want to go to the Mage Tower." Shalia looked at Li Hao in front of her.
"Yes, I want to learn magic, is that okay?" Li Hao looked at Shalia, took out his purse, handed it to Shalia, and said, "Is this enough for tuition?"
"The price of the Mage Tower is 20 gold coins per year." Shalia didn't accept it. "I'll take you to see Harrison. He will handle the admission to the Mage Tower."
Finally, with the help of Shalia, Li Hao followed Harrison to the Mage Tower.
The Mage Tower is not located in Charleston, but a few kilometers away from the town.
Harrison called a carriage to take them to the Mage Tower. Sitting in the carriage pulled by the monsters, Li Hao was very nervous because Harrison on the opposite side was always looking at him.
Li Hao had paid enough tuition and possessed the qualifications of a mage, so enrolling wasn't particularly difficult. However, Harrison was curious about why Shalia wanted to help this girl, especially since it didn't seem like she had a particularly close relationship with him.
However, Harrison also had a guess. He knew that Sharia could predict the future, so the girl in front of him was very likely related to the prophecy, so Sharia had such an attitude.
Li Hao fidgeted uncomfortably as the man across from him scrutinized him. Meanwhile, the people on the other side of the screen were busy building a data model to analyze the man. Then, a voice came from Li Hao's headset.
"Your danger level is the same as Salia's, both red. You must be careful. If you find anything wrong, click Return immediately."
Li Hao almost broke out in a cold sweat when he heard this. He could only lower his head and look at the patterns on the wooden board, not daring to look at the other person.
Although he was very curious about Li Hao, he also didn't want to offend Shalia.
After getting off the car, Harrison said, "Follow me," and walked forward with Li Hao.
Li Hao, who was following behind him, widened his eyes at the scene before him. The people on the screen were also watching the scene before them through the camera: the Mage Tower was actually floating in the air.
The Wizard Tower cannot be called a tower, it is more like a castle, a bit like the old-fashioned European castle in Harry Potter.
The castle is built on a cliff, with half of its side embedded in the steep cliff. The reason why it is called floating is that the castle is made up of several different buildings, with three independent towers in between, floating in the air.
The castle had a long wooden staircase leading from the main gate to the place where they got off the bus.
This spectacular and mysterious scenery left Li Hao and everyone in the live broadcast room stunned.
Li Hao followed Harrison onto the rickety wooden bridge, shuddering at the abyss below. Fortunately, the bridge, though seemingly shaky, was actually quite sturdy. Li Hao even discovered that, as if by magic, when she stepped on it, she could feel the solid ground she was standing on, rather than the empty space she'd felt on a chain bridge.
The castle itself was nothing special; it was just a European-style castle. Harrison raised his hand. There was a piece of metal in his palm. When he pressed it against the closed door, the castle door rippled like water. He walked straight in, and Li Hao followed closely behind him.
The stone castle had a cool, shady atmosphere. Coming in from the outside, one could feel the temperature drop by at least three or four degrees. There were few windows in the Mage Tower, and most of the lighting was provided by kerosene lamps leaning against the walls.
Harrison took Li Hao upstairs and passed by several people who were all wearing gray robes. When they saw Harrison, they all avoided him and bowed their heads, allowing Li Hao, who was following behind Harrison, to enjoy the feeling of being the center of attention.
When he reached a door, Harrison stopped and reached out to knock on the door, but he heard no movement from inside. Harrison suddenly took out something from his arms and threw it to the ground. The thing that was originally a stone turned into a black snake. The black snake crawled directly in through the gap under the door, and then a scream was heard from inside, and the door opened.
A disheveled man stuck his head out from inside. As soon as he appeared, a black mist hit Harrison in front of him.
"There's no need to do such a dirty thing all of a sudden." Harrison raised his hand to block the attack and said.
"You guy, shouldn't you be concentrating on your medicine? Why did you come back so suddenly?" After hearing the voice, it turned out that the person in the room was actually a girl.
"There's something I need your help with." Harrison said and moved sideways so that the people inside could see Li Hao behind him.
"You, is that so?" The woman said teasingly when she saw Li Hao.
"No, I want to come to the Mage Tower to study. You just need to help me get a place." Harrison interrupted the woman and said directly, taking out the tuition fee that Li Hao had given him before.
"Oh, so that's the case. Do you want to be my student?" the woman said, looking Li Hao up and down.
"No need, it was someone introduced by Shalia, you know." Harrison said directly without hiding anything.
"Okay, leave it to me." For them, taking someone as an apprentice was a different matter; it was a favor they owed. It was simply a matter of securing a place for the student. As long as one had the qualifications to be a mage and paid the tuition, the Mage Tower didn't recommend taking on more than one apprentice.
After Harrison handed the man over to the woman, he said to Li Hao, "Behave yourself here. No one here is someone you can mess with."
He simply left, leaving Li Hao alone with the girl.
The woman was also wearing a black robe. She straightened her clothes and walked out the door. She said to Li Hao coldly, "Follow me."
This castle was bigger than he had imagined, with complicated intersections and stairs, making Li Hao dizzy.
However, someone on the other side of the live broadcast room had already created a 3D map. Based on Li Hao's steps and height, they could perfectly reproduce the 3D holographic image, but at this time, someone realized that based on the distance they had walked, the castle they had seen before was not enough to accommodate such a large scene.
Some have speculated that it could be space technology.
The woman led Li Hao downstairs until they reached a door. Without even saying hello, she pushed the door open and walked in. She said to a man in a gray robe inside, "Handle her admission procedures."
"Respected Master Mage, good day, may I ask how I address you?" The gray-robed man was obviously almost 50 years old, and one could even see his mottled white hair, but he bowed his head and spoke humbly to the woman in front of him who was obviously younger than him.
"Jessica Milos." Jessica said her name.
The middle-aged man in charge looked at Jessica on the list and saw that she was a second-level mage. He lowered his head even more. "Sir, you still have 10 spots. Do you want to register her as a student?"
"No, just get admitted, hurry up." Jessica waved her hand and said in a nonchalant manner.
"Yes, sir."
"Okay, then I'm leaving." Jessica left like that.
The middle-aged man waited until Jessica was out of sight before he raised his head. He looked at the bewildered Li Hao, then put away his flattering expression and looked at her coldly. He was very good at reading people's expressions. If Jessica had accepted Li Hao as her student, his attitude might have been different.
"Let's test your qualifications first." After saying that, he took out a crystal ball from the drawer and placed it in front of Li Hao. "Put your hand on this. Don't take it away until I tell you to."
Li Hao had previously tested the small crystal at Harrison's place. This time, Li Hao placed his hand on the crystal ball again, enduring the pain and waiting for the light to come on.
It was about the same time as the last time it lit up, and Li Hao endured the pain. Meanwhile, the middle-aged man who had been observing the ball looked at the tube of crystal below the crystal ball and said, "The thermometer-like crystal was now a little over halfway filled with liquid."
"Average qualifications. Continue, and don't take your hands away."
After hearing this, Li Hao could only continue to endure the pain.
As the crystal ball lit up, tiny specks of fluorescence appeared in the air, a bit like fireflies floating in the air. Watching the light fill the entire room, the middle-aged man nodded. This many dots of light was a very good performance. His gaze towards Li Hao softened a little.
Most of these light spots are red, a few are golden, and there are a few sparse green lights that are invisible if you don't pay attention.
"Okay, take your hands away. It's mostly fire attribute, with a small part of light attribute and a little wood attribute. But your affinity is very good." The man took out a piece of iron and continued to ask for Li Hao's information.
"Name" "Li Hao." "I'm asking for your full name." "Li Hao. Casey." Li Hao made up a name and said.
"Age?" "22." The middle-aged man raised his head and looked at Li Hao in front of him. In this world with low productivity, a 22-year-old like Li Hao looked just like a local girl of 15 or 16.
"Another aristocrat." The middle-aged man said in a low voice. Obviously, he regarded Li Hao as an aristocrat with a comfortable life and no worries about food and clothing. Only aristocrats could look like this.
Next, the man handed her a metal plate. This metal plate served as her identity badge and was essential for entering and leaving the castle. Harrison had previously used this metal plate. The seemingly ordinary metal plate was actually a magical prop. When Li Hao touched it, the smooth metal plate began to reveal embossed text. Besides her name and basic information, it also contained the number 200.
The entire Mage Tower has a unique trading system. Each apprentice has 200 points, which can be used to purchase courses and materials. Apprentices can also trade points with each other.
"...You can use gold coins to buy points from other people. To get points, you can complete contribution tasks or get them from your mentor." The man explained to Li Hao.
"Here's a piece of advice for you, don't sell your points. Also, every mage apprentice can choose two courses for free in addition to the most basic spell model course. This is the benefit the Mage Tower gives you. These two courses will determine your future path as a mage." The middle-aged man said as he took out a few more things from the cabinet.
There were two gray robes. These robes were the same as the middle-aged man's and the robes of the people he met on the road. However, Li Hao also noticed the difference. Her robe had nothing embroidered on the chest, while the middle-aged man's robe had two stars embroidered on it.
In addition to the robe, there were ten sheets of parchment and a pen. "This is magic parchment, used to draw model magic patterns. Mage apprentices only get ten sheets a year. Only use it when you're sure you can make spell models. Don't waste it."
Li Hao quickly took the thing from the other person's hand, and at this time a voice came from the headset.
"Give him five gold coins," the person in the livestream reminded her. Li Hao now had more than twenty gold coins left.
Psychologists have studied the personality traits of this man. Giving some benefits to the person in front of him will bring a lot of convenience.
Li Hao quickly took out the gold coins and placed them on the middle-aged man's desk. The middle-aged man looked at the small golden object and calmly swept the gold coins into the drawer. Then he took out a few pieces of parchment from the cabinet, and Li Hao quickly took them.
"Come on, I'll find you a better roommate." Apparently, the gold coins had taken effect; the other person's attitude immediately changed, no longer sounding businesslike. "There aren't many good people among the apprentices. You need to pay attention to your points. There are a lot of things going on here that most apprentices don't know about."
