Chapter 18 "See You in Bed" - Lu Jin Apologizes

Chapter 18 "See You in Bed" - Lu Jin Apologizes

Lu Jin knelt before him.

His burning fingers gripped her wrist.

No, it's about seizing it.

We must prevent her from running away.

Lu Jin's voice was soft and low, with a hint of apology: "I'm sorry. I know you're in a difficult position."

Sang Li's shoulders stiffened slightly.

“I didn’t consider your feelings, and I shouldn’t have been so harsh with you.” Lu Jin’s tone was much gentler than usual. “There are many things I didn’t explain clearly. You don’t need to hand over the pearls; you can keep them.”

Sang Li's ears twitched.

Lu Jin gazed at her sincerely: "You're not 071, you're Sang Li. I'm really sorry, let's go home, okay?"

As if comforting a wounded hare, he took Sang Li's coat from the chair and placed it on the bed: "We'll have a good meal tonight, it's my treat."

Guh.

Sang Li's stomach started growling uncontrollably.

She's actually a very easy person to please.

After all, Lu Jin had it tough too; he got to eat and drink his food, and then he still had to give him attitude.

Sang Li's lips twitched, but in the end she said nothing, silently picked up her coat, and got out of bed.

The two left the room.

Bai Heng was still in his office, a smile on his face. He ignored Lu Jin and looked at Sang Li, asking, "Did you sleep well?"

Sang Li smiled and said, "Thank you."

After she finished speaking, she walked over and gently hugged Bai Heng.

Bai Heng's body stiffened.

Lu Jin;!

Sang Li was completely unaware of how outrageous her behavior was. She squinted her eyes and said, "I'm much better now. Goodbye, I'll come see you next time."

Bai Heng's breath hitched, and after a long pause, he said, "Okay, hurry back. Call me if anything happens."

As the two left, Bai Heng's gaze seemed to fall on the chain on Sang Li's ankle, where a small heart-shaped pendant swayed as she walked, reflecting a faint light.

He curled his lips slightly, a half-smile playing on his lips, picked up the now-cold cocoa from the table, and took a sip.

It's very sweet.

Five emotional breakdowns, very quickly.

Lu Jin thought he could get Sang Li out and keep her by his side.

No, he's dreaming.

***

Back home, Lu Jin deftly took off his coat, rolled up his shirt sleeves, and went into the kitchen.

His shirt buttons were casually undone, revealing a slit in the chest and a slightly open fabric that exposed his well-defined pectoral muscles. His rising and falling breaths accompanied the slight movements, his lines sharp and defined—a natural kind of sensuality.

Skillfully washing and chopping vegetables, and turning on the stove.

The kitchen light shone on his slightly hunched back, outlining the contours of his shoulders and back. The fabric of his shirt clung to his body, as if it would be torn apart at any moment.

Lu Jin is very confident in his physique.

Although he didn't know why he did it.

The meal is ready.

Lu Jin looked out through the transparent door of the kitchen.

Where are they?

He was watching TV on the sofa, but not looking at himself.

Lu Jin sighed and said, "Never mind, I'll get dressed."

Not long after, Lu Jin carried the first dish out of the kitchen. The light shone on his profile, and in the interplay of light and shadow, Sang Li looked over. Her gaze froze for a moment, and she had to admit that Lu Jin was indeed very handsome.

“I was spacing out,” Sang Li explained softly.

"It's okay, let's eat."

Lu Jin made steak, which had a rich aroma of butter, garlic, and spices, and was served with roasted potatoes and cream soup.

Sang Li thought that this would cost at least three or four hundred yuan outside, and she didn't know that Lu Jin would cook in such a variety of ways, and all of them were her favorite dishes.

The meat was tender and juicy, the sauce was just right, and it was even served with an avocado, onion, and yogurt sauce, making it refreshing and delicious.

Lu Jin asked, "How is it?"

Sang Li: "It was quite delicious. I was probably too hungry earlier and had low blood sugar, so I wasn't in a good mood."

Lu Jin hummed in agreement: "You prepared tea and snacks in my office, but unfortunately you didn't go."

Sang Li blinked.

ah?

What does this mean?

It sounded a bit resentful. Sang Li always felt that Lu Jin was complaining, but she had no evidence.

Does Lu Jin ever complain about others? She didn't think he would.

Lu Jin asked, "What are you thinking about?"

Sang Li sighed, "I feel like I'm really not suited for frontline work. I used to just draw and take orders," her voice tinged with self-blame and helplessness, "Seeing my fellow human beings being killed, even if they were abnormal, I..."

“No, you are Sang Li.” Lu Jin’s voice lowered as he gazed at her lowered eyelashes, his fingers unconsciously tapping the table. “You are different from them. Eat, it will get cold. This time it’s my fault, this won’t happen again.”

Sang Li continued eating in silence.

But he ate slower and slower.

After a moment of silence, he suddenly looked up and asked in confusion, "Do you think I'm... a traitor?"

Lu Jin almost choked.

What word is this?

Traitor?

Sang Li: "Human spies... are just like traitors..."

"..."

“No,” Lu Jin said.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Sang Li turned around.

Lu Jin stood up and walked towards the door.

He opened the door, took the small takeout bag, turned around and walked back to the living room, placing the bag on the dining table.

What is it?

Sang Li smelled a sweet fragrance and couldn't help but lean closer to take a look.

The bag contained... a tiramisu cake?

Her eyes lit up: "You actually ordered takeout, and it's dessert?"

Lu Jin chuckled lightly: "This is for you, dessert."

Sang Li was surprised and put her previous doubts aside. This was the taste she had been longing for!

"Is it that Western restaurant on the old alleyway that's been open for over ten years?"

"Um."

Sang Li couldn't suppress her smile. That shop was incredibly famous; their cakes needed to be pre-ordered and were quite expensive. Their tiramisu contained alcohol, and the ladyfingers underneath were moist and delicious. Sang Li had only eaten it twice: once during university, and again at the shelter. Back then, she had hoped the caretaker would buy her one, and she actually got her her share. Afterward, she wrote the caretaker a long thank-you letter.

"I love you so much!" Sang Li gave Lu Jin a big hug.

Like Bai Heng, Lu Jin's body also stiffened for a moment, as if he had been frozen in place.

His eyes widened as he looked down at Sang Li, who had thrown herself into his arms, his mind completely blank.

Her words were so blunt, like a burst of creamy popcorn, that they made his heart skip a beat.

"What did you say?" Lu Jin's voice was low and hoarse.

Sang Li looked up, her eyes narrowed as she smiled, "You have no idea how much I wanted to eat this cake. I was planning to buy it for myself as soon as I got paid! You actually... you actually knew about this place. I thought you men didn't like desserts! You're having some too, you're having some too!"

Lu Jin paused for a moment, his tense expression gradually relaxing: "Try it. I'll give you my home mailing address in a bit. You can buy whatever you want with my card."

Sang Li made a "V" sign.

Lu Jin seized the opportunity to complain, "There's one in the office too, but you didn't eat it."

Sang Li's joyful expression visibly disappeared, and she looked like an angry kitten.

Her eyebrows furrowed, and her mouth formed a downward curve as she looked at Lu Jin: "Why didn't you say so earlier!"

I should have gone back to the office.

The cake must have melted and gone to waste by now.

Ah, what a pity.

She could easily eat two!

It's all Lu Jin's fault. He was so short-sighted; if he had spoken up earlier, none of this would have happened.

Lu Jin chuckled: "How was I supposed to know you weren't going back to your office? You went to find someone else. Did they have any cake there?"

"No...and I didn't know you were so nice. How did you go from being so fierce to such a sweet and adorable person?" Sang Li said, feeling wronged because she didn't get to eat the cake.

Lu Jin looked at her, leaned back in his chair, and rested his chin on his hand: "Just say what you want to eat."

She picked up her fork, cut off a small piece, and put it in her mouth; instantly, a sweet and fragrant aroma filled her mouth.

It's so delicious, she'd forgive the world for a second.

In three minutes, I ate half of the cake.

If Lu Jin hadn't known that the cake suited his taste, he would have thought that Sang Li hadn't eaten enough.

"Want some more?"

"No, no, I'll get fat if I eat too much."

Sang Li felt a little embarrassed to eat and drink for free, so she took the initiative to clear the table, picked up the bowls and chopsticks and went to the kitchen: "Since you are so good to me, I will wash the dishes. I should put in some effort."

Lu Jin didn't argue, and turned to gather the dirty clothes: "Do you want your dirty clothes washed too?"

"Let's bring our outer clothes together, but mine have all been soaked in seawater."

"fine."

Lu Jin threw the clothes into the washing machine and casually set the program.

The low hum of the washing machine came from outside the kitchen, and a faint floral scent of laundry detergent filled the laundry room.

He looked toward the kitchen, where Sang Li was happily humming as she washed the dishes, her body twisting and turning as if she were dancing.

I originally intended to wipe the dining table while she was washing the dishes, but somehow I ended up walking towards the kitchen.

Sang Li was washing dishes with her head down, warm water and foam slipping through her fingers, white bubbles overflowing the entire sink.

The sound of running water was so loud that I didn't notice the kitchen door was open.

Lu Jin approached and stood behind her without making a sound.

A tall figure loomed over Sang Li's slender frame, casting the shadow of his shoulder onto the edge of the pool in front of her.

Sang Li sensed something and turned her head slightly.

At the same time, Lu Jin suddenly reached out and grabbed her hand from behind as she was wiping the dishes.

Lu Jin's large, strong hands, with calluses on his fingertips, covered the back of her hand. His palms were warm, and their skin was pressed together through a thin layer of foam.

Sang Li was stunned for a moment.

His fingertips were even hotter than the flowing water, and his well-defined knuckles almost completely enveloped her small hand.

This gesture is like wrapping her up in his arms.

“You…” Sang Li began to speak, but the words caught in her throat.

Lu Jin's voice seemed to surge from the depths of his chest: "Let me do it."

His breath gently brushed against the back of her neck, carrying a faint minty scent, probably from the chewing gum she had just eaten.

Their hands slid across the bowl, water swirling around their fingertips, squeezing out more tiny bubbles that burst into crystal clear form.

Lu Jin lowered his eyes and observed her profile.

Her eyelashes fluttered slightly, and her cheeks flushed slightly from the heat.

Sang Li's ears burned bright red as she peeked out from under his arm: "You...then you come..."

"Um."

She glanced at Lu Jin again, washed her hands, and ran away as if her life depended on it.

Strange, Lu Jin seems like a different person now, as if he's radiating hormones. If she weren't already acquainted with him, she would have thought he was deliberately seducing her or trying to make some kind of physical contact.

Sang Li rubbed her chest and looked at the anklet.

Bai Heng told her that the anklet was to prevent humans from doing anything inappropriate to her. In other words, she wouldn't be able to tempt Lu Jin at all right now.

Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Let's eat the cake first.

Sang Li spun most of the cake, leaving a small portion neatly arranged on a plate for Lu Jin to eat.

After all, it was Lu Jin who bought it, so it wouldn't be good for him to eat it himself.

After Lu Jin finished washing the dishes, he came out and, as expected, used the fork that Sang Li had prepared. He took a bite and said, "It's really good."

Sang Li looked up and asked, "Where am I sleeping tonight?"

Lu Jin seemed to have thought of something: "Your room isn't set up yet, it'll take a few days. Sleep with me first."

Sang Li didn't react too strongly: "Then I'm going to take a shower. What time do you go to sleep? Will it disturb you?"

"Tomorrow is the weekend, so it doesn't matter."

Sang Li snapped her fingers: "Then see you in bed."

Lu Jin: ...

He was a little puzzled. Was it because Sang Li often communicated online? She seemed to speak without thinking these days.

but.

They're quite cute.

A note from the author:

Lu Jin: Seduction failed
