Chapter 30 Evolution BEAM-107
When Lu Jin entered the private room, he saw Yu Qi leaning against Sang Li's chest, looking at her.
Tang Lan and Zhou Fangyang looked embarrassed and could only glance to the side.
"..."
"What's wrong?"
“BEAM-107.” Yu Qi’s expression was grim. “It has appeared.”
Lu Jin looked as if facing a formidable enemy, sat down next to Sang Li, and pried Yu Qi's hand away: "Let me see."
Sang Li turned around calmly and tugged at her collar: "Look, footprints."
Lu Jin looked down and his eyes instantly turned cold.
It was a mark so clear it couldn't be clearer.
It was tinged with an eerie, burnt pink, a shocking imprint on her heart.
The surrounding skin was slightly swollen from being pressed, which made people feel uneasy.
The atmosphere in the room instantly plummeted to freezing point.
Lu Jin lowered his eyes, his fingers tightened slightly, and his knuckles turned white.
The danger had passed, and Sang Li wasn't too scared: "You're too late."
"..."
Lu Jin paused, a sound rising in his throat: "Wrong."
"Tsk." Sang Li didn't expect him to slide to his knees so quickly.
He stretched out his finger and ran his fingertip over the mark.
The force was very strong.
Sang Li instinctively flinched, but quickly regained her composure.
"Does it hurt?" Lu Jin asked in a low voice.
“It doesn’t hurt, your injury hurts more than it did.” Sang Li was honest. “Stop rubbing, you can’t rub it off. It saved me just now, it was a good crow.”
Lu Jin frowned, his eyes dark and frightening.
Sang Li, somewhat helplessly, recounted the email she had just received.
Yu Qi listened, her face turning ashen.
In other words, right under the noses of their three teammates, Sang Li was almost taken away by the "person in the painting." If it weren't for the sudden appearance of the raven, the three of them would now be disciplined for dereliction of duty.
Tang Lan and Zhou Fangyang dared not look at Lu Jin's face.
Yu Qi directly admitted his mistake.
Sang Li didn't want to complain, so she waved her hand and said, "It's okay, I'm fine. What did Sister Yu Qi mean by BEAM-107? Have you seen this raven?"
Yu Qi began, “BEAM-107 is an anomalous target registered internally, but the file is in an unknown state.”
"Unknown?" Sang Li was slightly taken aback.
“Yes,” Zhou Fangyang chimed in, his expression somewhat unnatural, “We don’t even know its cause, frequency of occurrence, or characteristics. All we know is that it looks like a black raven.”
Tang Lan flipped through her phone: "And the permissions aren't enough. I can't even open the detailed records. There are three layers of approval locked up above."
Sang Li was stunned and couldn't help but ask, "Then why did you give it a number?"
Tang Lan shook her head.
Lu Jin had already activated the small detector he carried with him and quickly tapped it a few times with his fingertips.
The instrument emitted a low beeping sound, and the screen displayed a dense array of data waves.
Lu Jin squinted and glanced at it, his eyebrows lowered.
“The magnetic field is fluctuating, it’s exceeded the limit.” He said in a low voice.
"How much?" Tang Lan leaned closer.
Lu Jin tilted the detector screen to their side so they could see it.
"..."
"Am I seeing things?" Zhou Fangyang wondered if he was seeing things.
“The original recorded fluctuation index was between 100 and 130,” Lu Jin said, his voice laced with coldness. “Now it has more than doubled.”
The room was completely silent.
A gentle breeze blew in through the broken window, rustling the menus on the table and sending a chill down one's spine.
Sang Li swallowed hard: "So... this is an upgrade?"
“Amber, also known as Moonlight Sirens, has a fluctuation value of 150,” Lu Jin said.
Sang Li raised an eyebrow: "Can I understand that I've provoked an abnormal entity that none of you can handle?"
Lu Jin did find Sang Li's words rather unpleasant to hear.
Lu Jin explained, “According to the information I have access to, BEAM-107 first appeared 200 years ago in London as part of a series of murders. All the victims had a red raven mark on their chests, which was thought to be a mark of the murderer at the time. In the following 200 years, similar murders increased and the killer was never caught until the Ecological Authority was established.”
Yu Qi asked curiously, "What about the victim's identity?"
This was the first time she had heard about 107.
"Unknown," Lu Jin replied succinctly.
Tang Lan snorted: "That shouldn't be the case. Does that mean the victim's identity can't be disclosed? It's a murder case from 200 years ago. Who could have died? A nobleman, a king, a scientist, or a knight? Back then, weren't they all people like Jack the Ripper, killing prostitutes or other marginalized victims?"
"I don't know."
Even Lu Jin himself had never come into contact with 107's file.
The entire Ecological Management Bureau knows of 107's existence, but very few people have actually seen him. Even if you see a raven on the street, no one would suspect it's 107.
However, Sang Li is too special, and the magnetic field fluctuations just now were too strong.
Yu Qi is someone who can recite all the files, so she recognized him at a glance as 107.
The dishes are all served.
The hot pot broth has already boiled.
I had no appetite for what should have been a nice meal.
Sang Li looked at the large hole in the glass and felt as if a pair of eyes were watching her.
BEAM-107 hasn't gone far.
What is it about me that they're targeting?
Lu Jin pulled his chair closer, his shoulder almost touching Sang Li's body.
He placed a small piece of lobster on Sang Li's plate: "Eat up, it's alright, I'll stay with you."
Sang Li lowered her voice: "Let's sleep together tonight. I'm a little scared of being kidnapped by crows and becoming their wife."
Lu Jin's cold expression softened, and he smiled slightly: "Okay."
Yu Qi, who was closest to the two, suddenly blushed: ...
Sleep together?
Boss and Sang Li?
Is this not a good idea?
You can't ask.
You can't ask!
Yu Qi and Tang Lan looked at each other in bewilderment.
Sang Li ate her fill.
They stayed close by on the way back to the management bureau.
After all, she didn't want to be arrested.
After finishing our meal, we returned to the office building and went about our own business.
Sang Li followed behind Lu Jin, walking unsteadily.
My chest is still a little itchy.
Lu Jin pushed open his office door, and after Sang Li entered, he locked it with a click.
Sang Li: ?
"Are you plotting something against me?" Sang Li asked.
Lu Jin didn't waste any words. He went straight to the small refrigerator in the corner of the office and took out a small blue medicine bottle.
The medicine shimmered under the light, much like moonlight on the sea.
Lu Jin gripped the bottle and glanced back at her: "Take off your clothes."
"..."
