Chapter 11: The Cultivation of a Fisherman

Chapter 11: The Cultivation of a Fisherman

Lin Heng turned his head and saw his eldest nephew Lin Wei throwing a crab out with a snap, and it fell to death on a rock.

"Damn, dead crab!"

Lin Wei sucked his fingers and kicked them a few more times.

"Is your hand broken?" Lin Heng asked.

"It's okay, I just got a little skin broken." Lin Wei shook his head and walked to Lin Heng.

Rural kids are all tough, and this little injury is nothing. They will continue playing once it doesn’t hurt.

"Be careful, watch out and I'll teach you again."

Lin Heng started to slack off again, but this time he didn't do it well and let three of them escape in a row.

"Forget it. The water in the river is too high. Let's find a creek and try it." Lin Heng took his eldest nephew to find a creek.

"Oh my god, second father, there are so many fish, at least forty or fifty!"

Not long after walking into the stream, Lin Wei let out a cry of surprise.

Lin Heng raised his eyes to look, and saw dozens of stream groupers swimming in the water without support, their shadows cast on the rocks, looking very free and easy.

He really didn't expect that there were more fish in this creek than in the main river. When he thought about it carefully, it made sense. People often fished in the main river, but few people visited the creek.

"Try to catch it with your hands first."

Lin Heng said this and started to catch it. The small pool of water was thirty centimeters deep, so he set up a few stone traps and started trying.

"Second father, this fish runs so fast, it doesn't even try to get under the rocks."

After grabbing for a few minutes, Lin Wei became discouraged.

"I can't stand it anymore. If I can't catch you, I'll poison you!"

Lin Heng was also angry and decided to let them feel the anger of the fisherman.

I walked over and picked some leaves of a medicinal plant. These leaves are slightly poisonous and can make the fish faint, but not kill them.

But that's enough.

Two people, one big and one small, picked up stones and started smashing the leaves. After breaking them into pieces, they threw them into the water. Immediately, the clear stream turned dark green.

"Second father, the fish flipped over."

In less than five minutes, Li Wei picked up a white stream grouper by the water.

"Okay, start picking up fish." Lin Heng also went into the water to pick up fish. He put the stream grouper he picked up in a small beach of clear water, and it soon came back to life.

This kind of natural leaf is no different from artificial poison and has almost no toxicity. Once the water becomes clear, all the fish will come back to life.

In about ten minutes, the two picked up more than thirty palm-sized stream groupers. They threw away the small ones to let them continue to grow.

"Second father, there is also one in the pool below."

Lin Wei picked up several more stream groupers from downstream, but after the fish passed through three pools, there was no effect.

"At least fifty or sixty!" Looking at the harvest in the puddle, Lin Wei grinned.

“Kill it and fry it at home.” Lin Heng nodded. He grabbed the stream grouper and squeezed it hard, and all the internal organs came out. It was very easy to handle.

After killing the fish, the two men strung it with dogtail grass and took it home excitedly.

Lin Wei even showed off in front of every house, smiling so happily that he couldn't stop.

"Wow, we got so many fish, frying them and eating with wine would be great..."

"Where did you get this? There are so many..."

Everyone's words of envy made Lin Wei even happier.

Lin Heng originally wanted to stop it, because if he did so, others would definitely go down to the river to catch it, and they wouldn’t be able to catch it next time.

After thinking about it, I decided to give up. Even if I don’t mention it, there are people who catch stream grouper every year. As long as my nephew is happy, that’s enough.

"Mom, look at the fish we caught."

As soon as he got home, Lin Wei showed off his gains to his mother, hoping to get her approval.

But what he got was a scolding from his mother Liu Juan: "Are you running to death? You don't even want to look after your two younger brothers, right? What's the point of catching these few fish?"

Lin Heng couldn't bear it any longer: "Sister-in-law, it's not necessary. Lin Wei has good intentions."

Liu Juan kicked Lin Wei and said, "You have learned how to ask people to beg for mercy, right?"

Suddenly, Lin Wei cried silently out of grievance, not knowing where he had gone wrong.

Lin Heng frowned: "Sister-in-law, you have something against me, right?"

"I don't mean that. I'm educating my child. What if he drowns in the river?" The sister-in-law said that she didn't mean that, but her meaning was very clear.

Lin Heng looked at his sister-in-law deeply, then turned and left for the sake of his elder brother.

He walked over to check on his wife who was peeling potatoes, and took the daughter down from her back.

"Don't be angry, she is just like that." Chen Xiulan obviously heard the conversation between Lin Heng and her sister-in-law, and comforted Lin Heng.

"I just feel pity." Lin Heng shook his head. The child was too pitiful with this kind of education.

But there's nothing we can do, since she's Lin Wei's mother.

After teasing his daughter's chin for a few times, Lin Heng smiled and said, "Call me daddy, and I'll give you fish for lunch."

“Dad…Dad…”

The little guy opened his mouth with a smile on his face, and his little hands were rubbing back and forth on his face. His smooth little hands made Lin Heng feel very comfortable.

"Good boy, my dear."

Lin Heng didn't expect that his daughter learned to call him so quickly, and he happily hugged her and spun around a few times.

"Hehe...ba..."

The little guy suddenly became even happier and showed two cute dimples.

"Go and turn over the dried mushrooms for me so I can sell them tomorrow."

Chen Xiulan looked at Lin Heng and said.

"Okay." Lin Heng nodded.

The mushrooms and Coriolus versicolor picked yesterday are drying on a bamboo winnowing basket. I guess they will be completely dry today.

Lin Heng held his daughter and looked through the shelves. Mushrooms can be sold dried or wet, and the price is the same.

Farmers usually dry the fruits themselves for fear that they might go bad.

Lunch is usually rice, and today it was still potato, corn and rice.

The dish was stir-fried shredded potatoes and a plate of cold-mixed gray vegetable, also known as rouge vegetable, which is a wild vegetable.

Compared to shredded potatoes, Lin Heng thinks the cold-mixed gray vegetables taste more delicious.

The only meat was the brook grouper that Lin Heng and his eldest nephew Lin Wei caught.

"Brother, Lin Wei is very useful. He is the one who caught most of them." Lin Heng said with a smile after eating.

"It is useful, but be careful of the dangers near the river." The eldest brother Lin Yue praised his son and patted him on the shoulder.

Lin Wei looked at Lin Heng with some gratitude, a happy smile of recognition appearing on his face.

"Be good and eat the fish." Lin Heng carefully peeled the stream grouper, removed the spine, and fed the meat into his daughter's mouth.

His daughter Xiaoxia opened her little mouth and sucked his hand together.

"Eat... and more..."

After eating one, the little cutie grabbed Lin Heng's fingers, whining for more, and started kicking her legs.

“Eat, eat, eat!”

Lin Heng quickly brought over another fish.

Lin's father and mother were amazed when they saw this scene. Their second son actually had such a side. Could it be that he had really changed for the better? Then they looked at each other and felt that it was impossible. He would definitely not last a week.

After dinner, it was time to plant rice in the afternoon. Lin Heng was so tired that he lay in bed at night and didn’t want to move.

His wife Chen Xiulan coaxed their daughter to sleep, then came over to massage his waist and shoulders.

"Forget it, you are tired too, take a rest."

Lin Heng shook his head, hugged his wife and lay down to sleep. He didn't have the strength to fight tonight.

However, Lin Heng is looking forward to tomorrow, as he is going to the town to intercept the big wolfdog with legendary attributes.

With the help of the big wolfdog, he believed that he would have a great harvest when hunting in the mountains.

With his hand on his wife's chest, Lin Heng fell asleep quickly. He was too tired today.
