Chapter 9 I Don't Think You Can't Do It
After dinner, Chen Xiulan prepared a bath for Lin Heng: "Hurry up and take a bath. I've got your clothes ready."
After saying that, she carried her daughter into the house. There was no bathroom at all, so they just used a basin in the wood room to wash themselves.
It was still a bit cold in the morning and evening in this season, and Lin Heng was as cold as a cuckoo.
There was no light in the room, only the light from the stove. After taking a quick shower, Lin Heng went out to the toilet.
It was just past eight o'clock in the evening, but there was no light in the village. There was no electricity, no entertainment facilities, and everyone went to bed very early.
This was the countryside in the 1980s, poor and backward, with people working hard to make ends meet.
I glanced at the starry sky above my head. It was densely packed with stars and the Milky Way was visible in the distance.
"It's going to be another sunny day tomorrow." Lin Heng sighed, shook himself off after going to the toilet, and returned to the bedroom.
My wife Chen Xiulan had just made the bed, but my daughter Xiaoxia was still stirring around in bed, grinning foolishly and refusing to sleep.
"Leave it to me." Lin Heng nodded, went to bed and started teasing his daughter.
Chen Xiulan nodded, took her clothes and went to the woodshed to take a shower.
The kerosene lamp in the room smelled a bit unpleasant and the light was very dim. The daughter hugged Lin Heng's neck and giggled.
"Go to sleep sweetly, Dad will tell you a fairy tale..."
Lin Heng put her on the bed and played the role of the Big Bad Wolf while telling her the story of Little Red Riding Hood.
Of course the little girl didn't understand what he was saying, but that didn't stop him from coaxing her to sleep. After playing the role of the Big Bad Wolf for a while, the little girl suddenly felt sleepy and fell asleep.
He placed his sleeping daughter on the bed against the wall and covered her with a quilt. Looking at this familiar yet unfamiliar little face, Lin Heng felt a little emotional and melancholy. In this life, he must make sure that the little girl has a good life and has money to go to school and learn to read.
This made him think of his good-for-nothing son in his previous life. He would definitely not see him again in this life, and rebirth would definitely disrupt everything, but he didn't think it was a pity.
That son was even more idle than him, and had even less affection. It would be the same if he had another one in this life.
"Did you coax your daughter to sleep?" Chen Xiulan walked in after taking a bath and looked a little surprised.
"Yes, go and have a rest quickly, my wife!" Seeing Chen Xiulan emitting moisture, Lin Heng instantly had the urge to have a baby.
Chen Xiulan blushed, blew out the kerosene lamp and went to bed. As soon as she lay down, she felt a big hand hugging her.
"Be gentle and don't wake up our daughter." Chen Xiulan suddenly felt a little shy today.
"Don't worry, it won't happen."
Lin Heng chuckled and was as anxious as a monkey.
After not seeing each other for decades, he was so happy to have a young body again.
The fun lasted for more than half an hour before it ended, and both of them were sweating profusely.
"Why do I feel like you are a different person today!"
Chen Xiulan whispered that even doing that kind of thing was different from before.
In the past, Lin Heng only cared about his own feelings. After finishing, he would lie down and sleep without caring about her feelings at all, as if she was no different from a doll.
But today was different. Even after it was over, he still held her tightly in his arms, and his techniques and actions made her very happy.
Especially now being held like this made her feel unprecedented security and warmth.
"I was such a jerk before. From now on, I will treat you wholeheartedly and let you live a good life that everyone envies. Let your family know that you are not with the wrong person."
Lin Heng hugged his wife and whispered in her ear. As they were close together, he could feel his wife's heart pounding.
I owed you too much in my previous life, and I just want to make up for it with all my strength in this life.
Chen Xiulan was moved by these words. She grabbed Lin Heng's hand and whispered, "As long as you live well with me, nothing else matters."
Lin Heng was silent after hearing this. She often said this in her previous life, but he had never heard that she was not treated well after being tricked into the house.
Suddenly, Lin Heng hugged his wife and turned her towards him.
"What are you doing..."
Before Chen Xiulan could finish her words, Lin Heng blocked her mouth...
Another ten minutes passed, until both were exhausted.
The next morning, Chen Xiulan got up at dawn and fed her daughter who had already woken up.
Lin Heng opened his eyes dazedly and tried to sit up, but he felt weakness in his lower back and fell down again.
When Chen Xiulan saw this scene, she couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Lin Heng glared at his wife angrily: "Still laughing, it's all your fault."
"I didn't ask you to come three times a night." Chen Xiulan opened her eyes wide and smiled with a feeling of injustice.
I thought to myself that it was obviously your own fault and I had already reminded you, yet you are blaming me.
"You're just too attractive!"
Lin Heng lay on the bed in a bad mood, but he was very happy in his heart. He missed his wife very much because of his rebirth, and his wife had a good figure, so he couldn't help but indulge himself too much.
Chen Xiulan blushed and said, "Don't say that. It would be embarrassing if my parents heard it."
After feeding the baby and coaxing her, my daughter fell asleep again.
Chen Xiulan had long been unable to bear Lin Heng's gaze, so she quickly got dressed and got up. After a while, she came back and brought Lin Heng a cup of tea.
When Lin Heng took a look, he found that what was soaked inside were actually Shenjingcao and Epimedium, two kinds of herbs for nourishing the kidney.
Seeing Lin Heng's gaze, Chen Xiulan quickly explained: "I'm worried that you might get hurt, I don't mean that you can't do it."
Lin Heng: “…”
What could I say? I just took the tea and drank it silently.
I secretly decided to work out so that I could make my wife beg for mercy in the future.
When Lin Heng got up, everyone else got up too. Xiulan and her mother Lu Hongmei were making breakfast, and the others were washing their faces.
Lin Heng walked out of the yard and stared at the thick dew on the plants in the early morning.
After a while, he saw his sister Lin Caiyun walking towards him from outside the vegetable garden, carrying a large bundle of grass on her back. She was holding a book in her hand and reading as she walked.
After walking to the cowshed not far away, she put away the book and took out the grass to feed the cows.
"Caiyun, do you really want to study?" Lin Heng walked over and asked.
Caiyun glanced at Lin Heng and said sensibly, "I'm just watching to kill time. I'm already 16 years old, and it's time for me to share the burden at home."
She said she didn't want to, but her eyes couldn't hide the fact. She only studied up to the sixth grade and should have been promoted to junior high school this year, but her father Lin Xuan had forbidden her to do so.
I think it’s useless for a girl to study so much. She should just go home and help with the housework and find a good husband to marry into in two years.
This is still considered good. Many girls in the village are not allowed to continue studying after the second or third grade.
Lin Heng knew that there were actually reasons of his own. He had been in the second year of junior high school and still had no job, which made his father think that studying was useless.
Lin Heng also thought so in his previous life, but after experiencing many things, he finally understood the benefits of reading.
"Don't worry, I'll pay for you to go to school in September. If you don't learn more knowledge, you'll never be able to turn your life around in this life."
Lin Heng looked at his sister and said with a smile.
When Lin Caiyun heard this, her bright eyes sparkled, then dimmed again: "Thank you, second brother. It's okay if you don't study. My family needs my help. If you have money, give more to Sister Xiulan. She works very hard."
She didn't quite believe that her second brother had enough money to send him to school. After all, he was the least reliable person in the family.
Even if there was money, she would feel embarrassed to ask for it. Sister-in-law Xiulan works so hard, and the money should be given to her.
Her poor family made her dare not have such unrealistic thoughts. Everyone in the family worked very hard, and she did not want to be a burden to the family.
Lin Heng was silent for a moment, then smiled and said, "I will have a lot of money by then."
He still remembered how difficult his sister's life was in her previous life. The husband she married not only liked to drink, but also liked to gamble. Whenever he got drunk or lost in gambling, he would beat Caiyun.
He was born earlier than him, and although he was idle, at least he didn't gamble, get drunk, or beat his wife. He could also correct his mistakes and repent.
That beast was still gambling until his death. He squandered all his family fortune. Caiyun was found dead in bed by the neighbors.
In this life, Lin Heng will not allow such a tragedy to happen again. He wants his sister to study more and go to college.
"I believe in my second brother." Caiyun smiled slightly, but in fact she had already given up any hope in her heart.
