Chapter 228 Chen Weiliang Arrives
Song Lubai was led by the group to the classroom that used to be the accounting training team's classroom.
There were quite a few people in the classroom, both men and women, sitting there listlessly.
As soon as the door opened, a pungent smell of excrement hit the nostrils, and greenbottle flies hovered in the air, making a disgusting buzzing sound.
The weather was hot, and everyone ate, drank, and relieved themselves here. The mixed smells fermented, making people feel nauseous.
After being forcefully pushed inside, Song Lubai stood by the window, watching the people walk away, and then found a place that was barely clean.
Looking around, she spotted Wang Haiquan in the crowd.
Wang Haiquan was sleeping against the wall, and he was noticeably thinner than when we last met.
Sunken eyes, prominent cheekbones, and stubble.
She leaned closer and woke Wang Haiquan.
When Wang Haiquan saw her, he thought he was dreaming. He rubbed his eyes and looked at his surroundings before he realized it was real.
He asked with a displeased expression, "How did you get in?"
Song Lubai recounted her "grudge" with Ma Song, saying, "I guessed it was like that. If I had known I would end up in here sooner or later, I wouldn't have scolded you that day. Director Wang, I have to apologize to you."
Wang Haiquan shook his head, "That wasn't scolding at all. I could tell you looked even worse than me that day. I never blamed you."
Song Lubai slumped against the wall and sat on the ground, saying, "I regret it. If I had known it would end like this, I would have done the same thing as Section Chief Lu that day. At least I would have been a person with backbone."
Wang Haiquan looked at her with pity, "Xiao Song, you have to be careful..."
Song Lubai turned her head to look at him.
Wang Haiquan didn't say anything more, but judging from his expression, he was not optimistic about her situation.
Song Lubai shifted her gaze to the other female comrades and found that they were all huddled together, hugging themselves.
Just then, a woman looking disheveled was pushed in.
The woman was pushed and stumbled, lying there motionless for a long time.
What frightened her was that the man standing at the door was peering into the classroom.
Before the other person could look at her, Song Lubai leaned her upper body to the side. Wang Haiquan hunched over and stood up, moving to the front. The person in front moved back, pressing down on Song Lubai's leg, but she didn't make a sound.
The people in front of her intentionally or unintentionally blocked her way. The person at the door frowned, looked around, and couldn't find the newly delivered, supposedly very beautiful woman. Disliking the polluted air, he locked the door and left.
The door was locked again, and Song Lubai was able to catch her breath for a moment before sitting up straight again.
"Thank you, comrades."
The people in front nodded weakly and moved their bodies forward a little, no longer touching her.
Everyone was silent, yet they had helped her in silence just now.
Wang Haiquan stood at the window for a while, then returned with a frown.
Seeing that he couldn't straighten his back, Song Lubai guessed that he had probably been injured.
No one was in the mood to talk, so the sound of someone relieving themselves in the corner was particularly clear.
Song Lubai felt that this place was really embarrassing.
She didn't know if the person she had just met was looking for her, nor did she know if Chen Weiliang would come to rescue her or if he could get her out of there. She was also wondering if if Sun Hong told Lou Yuchun about the existence of the file folder, he would be angry and not come to help her, or he would help her for the sake of those documents but would not come to rescue her immediately.
What terrified her was that neither Chen Weiliang nor Lou Yuchun could help her…
The windows were nailed shut and the door was locked, so she had no way to escape.
As she lived in fear, the door was pushed open again, letting in sunlight that swirled dust and swarmed around the newcomer.
This time, there were not just one person, but three.
After these people came in, they held their breath and moved through the crowd. One of them tripped and fell face-first into the mud.
After that man got up, he started punching and kicking the people below.
Song Lubai huddled in the crowd, but was eventually found.
"Get up and get out."
Wang Haiquan stood up to block the way, but was kicked against the wall.
Song Lubai supported him and whispered, "I'll go out with them, don't worry about it."
The two men thought she couldn't cause any trouble, so they looked her up and down and walked ahead.
Song Lubai followed behind the two, hugging her arms and shrinking her neck, pretending to be scared.
Once she was outside, she took a liking to the direction and started running.
The people behind didn't even have time to lock the door; they cursed and ran after them.
Song Lubai knew she probably couldn't escape, but she was really scared and wouldn't be satisfied if she didn't try.
In just a short time, the number of people pursuing her increased from three to eight or nine.
She regretted going to work at the ministry today; she should have gone out and hid for a few days.
At the time, she had no idea that things would turn out like this inside.
As she was kicked down and lunged forward, she finally drew the dagger from her hand.
She slashed at the outstretched arm, and blood gushed out instantly.
This dagger was given to her by Li Guangming for self-defense; she never imagined she would use it in this situation.
"Don't move, or we'll open the position."
Just as Song Lubai froze, thinking she was about to die, a familiar voice rang out:
"Comrade Liu, what are you doing?"
Song Lubai stiffly turned her neck and saw Chen Weiliang and Sun Hong standing one after the other. She almost burst into tears of joy.
The man with the weapon said, "This person ran away and injured someone."
Sweating profusely, Song Lubai threw down the dagger, indicating that she was no longer aggressive.
Chen Weiliang stepped forward and pulled Comrade Liu, who was holding a weapon, aside, and began to speak to him in private.
"Comrade Liu, Song Lubai and I are from the same hometown. I've looked into her situation, and the problem is negligible. Considering our friendship, let's educate her and have her write a self-criticism. What do you think?"
Liu Hui smiled and said, "Brother, given our friendship, I should have helped you with this, but she just hurt someone."
The two hadn't known each other much before, but they'd been interacting more recently because Chen Weiliang had gained considerable favor, which was why Liu Hui was being so polite to him.
If I hadn't seen Song Lubai's face, I would have let it go, but now that I have, I feel unsatisfied that I can't eat it.
Chen Weiliang lowered his voice and said, "I heard that many of the female comrades who were sent here have had problems. Comrade Liu, I think this place is too crowded, and it's not convenient for men and women to live together. The kindergarten is empty now. I will suggest to the secretary that the male and female comrades live separately, so that your pressure will be less."
"What do you think, Comrade Liu?"
Liu Hui understood the threat in his words and felt wary, but he didn't want to lose face by directly refusing to let the other person go.
He chuckled and said, "Well then, let's arrange for the female comrade to go over there today. We'll assign some people to guard her. We haven't investigated her case yet, so we can't just send her back like this. Comrade Chen, you have to understand the difficulties we face in our work."
Chen Weiliang felt that he was still not being honest, so he said, "I'll talk to the secretary when I get back and ask him to transfer some more people to ease the pressure on you."
Liu Hui stuck his tongue against his cheek and said reluctantly, "Then thank you very much, Comrade Chen."
