Chapter 41 The Abnormal Lin Dahai

Chapter 41 The Abnormal Lin Dahai

Aunt Niu next door and Song Lubai's family don't get along.

Because Aunt Niu originally wanted her third son to be introduced to Song Lubai.

There was no need for Song Lubai to refuse; Zhang Cui was the first to object.

Because Aunt Niu's family of eleven people were crammed into a room of about sixty square meters, such cramped living conditions were really not the ideal in-laws that Zhang Cui had envisioned.

After Zhang Cui refused, the relationship between the two families soured.

While cooking in the stairwell, Song Lubai would occasionally hear Aunt Niu's sarcastic remarks.

"What's going on? I can't get anyone out even by kneeling."

Aunt Niu's intention to inquire was too obvious, and judging from the commotion in the stairwell, it wasn't just Aunt Niu's family who opened the door.

Under the astonished gazes of Zhang Cui and Song Lubai, Lin Dahai stood up with a sullen face, strode open the door, and roared with an angry face that no one had ever seen before: "Get out of here right now! I've already made my son divorce Liu Mei. What the hell are you all? Doing such filthy and disgraceful things. If I had known, I would have rather died than let Liu Mei into my house."

"Get out, get out of here! You disgraceful thing."

Old Lady Liu couldn't believe it.

Although she hadn't had much interaction with Lin Dahai, and although he wasn't very enthusiastic every time they met, he always acted like a respectable city person. Why was he acting like this today?

Old Lady Liu tried to tug at Lin Dahai's clothes, but Lin Dahai dodged it, turned around, picked up the broom behind the door, and hit the two people kneeling at the door.

"Get up and get out of here! I don't have a relative like you! Liu Mei is no longer my daughter-in-law."

Lin Dahai angrily swung his broom, beating the two women until they ran down the stairs and he chased them downstairs.

This left the crowd of onlookers upstairs stunned.

Even Zhang Cui looked like she'd seen a ghost.

Lin Dahai usually appears to be an honest and simple person. He is very helpful to anyone who asks him for a favor, and he has a good reputation.

I've never seen anything like this before.

Seeing Lin Dahai come up, someone mustered up the courage to ask, "Old Lin, what's wrong?"

Lin Dahai said with his head down, "Liu Mei's family members were arrested by the police station for committing crimes, and they want me to find someone to plead for them."

"Don't say I don't have the ability. Even if I did, I wouldn't go. If you do something illegal or disorderly, you should be arrested."

Aunt Niu: "They are, after all, your in-laws. How can you not care and even want your son to get a divorce? That's unacceptable! You're too cold-blooded and heartless!"

Lin Dahai stared intently at her, making Aunt Niu feel intimidated.

“I wasn’t happy about marrying him.”

Lin Dahai couldn't say anything more.

He seemed to have revealed a lot just now, but in reality, he was just confirming everyone's guesses.

Rather than letting everyone guess, he should just tell us the whole story.

It's Liu Mei's family home, not his.

He was almost driven mad by this mess, but he still retained some rationality.

The door was closed, blocking the view of the people in the hallway.

"They say rural people have a lot of problems, and you still can't accept a rural daughter-in-law. Look how angry Old Lin is."

Everyone standing in the corridor was proud of having an urban household registration.

Because the urbanization rate is so low now, it's hard for city dwellers not to feel a sense of superiority when they think of rural people.

"But what did Liu Mei's family do to get arrested? What exactly did they do to commit crimes?"

Aunt Niu snorted, "No matter what they did wrong, who forces their son to divorce? What else is that but a despicable person?"

Everyone looked at each other, but no one spoke.

They were still right in front of Lin Dahai's house; no matter how quietly they spoke, there was no guarantee that the people inside could hear them.

The door was opened, and Song Lubai's head peeked out.

"Auntie, what you're saying is wrong. There's a saying, 'One who stays near vermilion gets stained red, and one who stays near ink gets stained black.' There's also a saying, 'Flies don't land on eggs without cracks.' If someone is of bad character, and everyone knows they're not good, then those close to them will also be considered of bad character. Only by drawing clear lines can we prevent others from having such opinions. This behavior isn't the act of a petty person, but rather the behavior of a gentleman. A gentleman chooses to make friends with people of good character. Just like our interactions with our neighbors, we can get along well because everyone is a good person. If someone is a bad person, everyone will reject them."

"Do you think my uncle's decision is right or wrong?"

Aunt Niu was completely bewildered by what she was being said.

She seemed to know every word Song Lubai said, but she couldn't understand why she was saying them so fast.

The first person to support Song Lubai was Ma Xiaohe's mother, who was also the factory director's wife and a member of the factory's labor union.

Song Lubai's house was on the third floor, and Ma Xiaohe's house was on the second floor below. Everyone was surprised when the sound came up.

"Lu Bai is right. People should associate with good people. Being with bad people is called birds of a feather, and neither of them are good people."

With the factory director's wife speaking out in support, and thinking back on what that girl Song Lubai said, isn't that exactly what happened?

But when everyone thought about what Song Lubai had just said, they couldn't repeat it. Anyway, her words were always in a coherent and logical way.

I must say, high school students are indeed cultured; they can reason better than others.

Hearing others praise her, Aunt Niu muttered to herself, "What kind of culture is that? Being able to win an argument means you're cultured? If you're so capable, why didn't you go to university?"

Song Lubai heard her mutterings but pretended not to hear them, and closed the door to leave gracefully.

If she doesn't say a few words today, people outside will have no idea what to say about her family.

Liu Mei's family is in trouble, and she immediately wants a divorce. What kind of behavior is this? If even in-laws can't stand together through thick and thin, everyone will think Lin Dahai is a ungrateful person.

In a tenement building, everyone sees each other every day, so it's important to maintain good neighborly relations. Otherwise, you'll be ostracized and it will be difficult to live there.

He closed the door and saw Lin Dahai sitting there blankly without any reaction.

Since learning that Liu Mei had been taken away by the police station, Lin Dahai has been like this when he got home.

Song Lubai felt that Lin Dahai was even more upset than Liu Mei when Liu Mei was arrested.

Song Lubai really couldn't understand Lin Dahai's inner world.

Song Lubai pointed to the things on the table, "Mom, who brought these?"

Song Lubai had never seen this kind of gift boxed pastry in a department store, but she had seen this kind of box at Ma Xiaohe's house.

These snacks come from Beijing; you need a special channel to buy them.

"Li Guangming's father came to visit today to thank you for saving Li Guangming. I asked about the situation, and Li Guangming is much better. He is not missing any limbs, just some abrasions on his shoulder. He lost a lot of blood, but fortunately there was no bleeding in his brain, so it's not a big problem."

When Li Guangming was mentioned, Zhang Cui smiled slightly. "His father said that once Li Guangming has fully recovered, you two should meet."

Song Lubai looked up in shock, "No way, even after all this, why are you still thinking about this? We're already being kind by not disgusting our family."

Zhang Cui said with a long face, "Liu Mei is Liu Mei, what does she have to do with our family? You even saved Li Guangming's life, that's fate. Their family is willing, what are you dissatisfied with?"
