Chapter 8 Shu Changzai

After the imperial physician Wang withdrew, Emperor Yongzheng began to slowly pace around the main hall.

Suddenly, Yongzheng stopped and called out, "Su Peisheng."

“Your servant is here,” Su Peisheng replied.

"By imperial decree, Jin Shu is to be appointed as Consort Shu. You shall personally select a few trustworthy nannies, eunuchs, and palace maids to serve her."

"Furthermore, it is ordered that no idle people in the harem should disturb Consort Shu during her pregnancy."

"This servant obeys the decree." Su Peisheng thought to himself that Consort Shu was a lucky woman. The Emperor himself was protecting her pregnancy. As long as Consort Shu did not cause any trouble, she would be able to give birth to a prince or a princess safely.

Su Peisheng first went out to inform Fu Gonggong of the Emperor's decree, and then personally went to select nannies, eunuchs, and palace maids for Consort Shu.

After returning to Feng Qingyueming, Eunuch Fu immediately went to report to the Empress: "Your Majesty, the Emperor has promoted Consort Shu to the rank of Consort Shu, and has instructed Eunuch Su to personally select nannies, eunuchs, and palace maids to serve Consort Shu. The Emperor has also instructed that no one else in the harem should disturb Consort Shu during her pregnancy."

The Empress nodded and said softly, "Yes, this Consort Shu is a lucky one. She has been promoted to Consort Shu now. If she is lucky enough to give birth to a prince, she can be promoted to Consort Shu. If she gives birth to a princess, she will be Noble Lady Shu."

The Empress then instructed, "Eunuch Fu, convey my imperial decree that the concubines of the inner palace must not disturb Consort Shu during her pregnancy."

Then the Empress gave instructions to Granny Chun, instructing her to personally deliver the gifts to Consort Shu.

Ituma Shushu looked at Xia Ju, who had been following her since returning from reporting to the Empress, and said, "Xia Ju, you and Dongmei should redecorate the Spring Breeze and Autumn Rain Pavilion. I estimate that by the time you finish, the Emperor and Empress's decree should arrive."

"Yes, Your Highness," Xia Ju replied with a bow.

After Xia Ju left, she silently said, "Dawn Mall, open."

After opening the "Dawn Mall", Ituma Shushu used her mind to form a small hand and pressed the light blue button in the upper left corner of the virtual transparent panel of the "Dawn Mall".

The virtual transparent panel of "Dawn Mall" displayed:

Ituma Shushu

[Health Points: 2580]

Lifespan: 2 years and 8 months

Lifespan can be exchanged for vitality points.

【Additional Information】

[Yongzheng]

Lifespan: 1 year and 8 months

Lifespan cannot be exchanged for vitality points.

Alas, even though I am pregnant, Yongzheng's lifespan has not changed. What if, after I give birth to the child, Yongzheng's lifespan also remains unchanged?

In other words, Emperor Yongzheng would pass away when her child was about one year old.

Will she be able to bring her child with her to the Empress? She should be able to, right? She's the Empress Dowager now, there's no need for her to take her child away!

Ituma Shushu thought that she and her children would take good care of the Empress.

Wait a minute, what if the Empress didn't serve as Empress Dowager for more than a few years and then passed away?

That leaves only her and the young prince. Once Hongli ascends the throne as emperor, will he resort to the adoption system?

No, perhaps this fictional era is not the one where Hongli ascended the throne?

That doesn't make sense! Even if it wasn't Hongli who ascended the throne in this fictional era, but another prince, they might still have adopted her son. Their Aisin Gioro emperors loved doing that kind of thing.

She absolutely wouldn't object to her son being adopted out. How could her son not be with her? If someone else doesn't take good care of him, he might not survive!

What if the Empress becomes the Empress Dowager and then doesn't agree to let me and the little prince follow her?

Will I be able to take care of the two princes by myself then?

Or perhaps she was killed by the Empress, and she raised the young prince alone. After all, without her presence, the young prince would be even more filial to her.

...

Looking at her belly, Ituma Shushu whispered, "Baby, your mother is so worried! Why is our fate so unfortunate!"

She was still lost in thought when Dongmei's voice came: "Your Highness, Eunuch Su from the Emperor's side has arrived."

She quickly came to her senses and, holding Dongmei's hand, walked towards the door.

"Greetings to Consort Shu," Su Peisheng said, bowing.

“No need for such formalities, Eunuch Su,” Ituma Shushu said hastily.

"Consort Shu, His Majesty has already issued an edict promoting you to the rank of Consort. These three eunuchs, one palace maid, and two matrons were personally selected for you by His Majesty's order," Su Peisheng said, bowing.

"Hurry up and pay your respects to Consort Shu," Su Peisheng ordered the group of eunuchs, maids, and nannies waiting to the side.

"This servant greets Consort Shu and pays respects to Consort Shu." A group of eunuchs, palace maids, and nannies hurriedly bowed.

"Eunuch Su, who are these two old ladies?" Ituma Shushu asked with a puzzled look.

"Replying to Consort Shu, these two matrons are here specifically to serve you during your pregnancy," Su Peisheng replied.

Ituma Shushu understood; they were just meant to take care of her until she finished her postpartum confinement period and then leave.

Su Peisheng also brought the Emperor's gifts: "300 taels of silver, 3 bolts of silk, 3 bolts of spring silk, 3 bolts of palace silk, 3 bolts of cloud satin, 3 bolts of plain satin, 3 bolts of commercial silk, and 3 bolts of Peng satin."

She had just seen Su Peisheng off.

Chun, the nanny by the Empress's side, arrived with the rewards: "300 taels of silver, 1 bolt of gauze, 1 bolt of spring silk, 1 bolt of palace silk, 1 bolt of cloud satin, 1 bolt of plain satin, 1 bolt of commercial silk, and 2 catties of cotton."

Ituma Shushu formally met three eunuchs, one palace maid, and two nannies. The three eunuchs were Xiao Linzi, Xiao Anzi, and Xiao Shunzi; the palace maid was named Chunhua; and the two nannies were Granny Gu and Granny Rong.

Ituma Shushu instructed Dongmei to register the items bestowed by the Emperor and Empress in the warehouse, and also instructed Xiaju to settle the newcomers.
