Chapter 31 The Lu Family

Chapter 31 The Lu Family

Lu Mingxiu watched his younger sister and her family dragged in shackles by a group of exiles, moving farther and farther away from his sight, until... they slowly disappeared.

The people around who were seeing him off had already left, and he was the only one standing there, motionless.

"Master, go back."

Mo Zhu looked at the sun above his head and couldn't help but worry. The young lady had just told him to take good care of him, and he couldn't let her down.

Lu Mingxiu did not respond. He closed his eyes to relieve the soreness in them. He reached out to rub his temples, then he remembered the package his younger sister had stuffed into his hands before she left.

He returned to the rented carriage and opened the package to see what was inside.

The package contained a square box made of straw. He opened the lid and saw a neatly folded paper on top with some ink stains. He curled his lips slightly, took it out and opened it. Sure enough, it was a letter written to him by his younger sister.

After reading it quickly, he turned his gaze inside the box.

In the box, there are two small animals made of straw, a cow and a rabbit, which are exactly Haohao and Yueyue’s zodiac signs.

My younger sister said in the letter that these were made by the two children themselves. They practiced when they had nothing to do in the prison these days and finally made two satisfactory ones.

In addition to these two little animals, there were also a few silver ingots left to him by his younger sister.

He pursed his lips, took a deep breath, and read it carefully again from beginning to end.

His younger sister said that she couldn't be with him anymore and hoped that he could find a close friend who could understand him. He smiled bitterly, thinking that he would probably disappoint his younger sister.

Finally, she expressed her reluctance to leave him in the letter, hoping that he would take care of his health and wait for the day of their reunion.

His eyes were a little red.

This little sister is already a mother, but she is still the same as when she was a child.

He closed his eyes to hide the tears.

He took a deep breath, opened his eyes again, and his usual coolness returned.

Neither happy nor sad, as if nothing could attract his attention.

"Mo Zhu, go back." He said lightly.

Mo Zhu was sitting on the shaft of the carriage, and when he heard that the young master was finally going back, he quickly responded and called the coachman sitting under the shade of a tree not far away to drive the carriage back to the city.

The carriage started slowly. Lu Mingxiu in the carriage lifted the curtain and looked back at the road that was already deserted, his eyes more determined.

"Master, are you okay?" Mo Zhu was a little worried.

Lu Mingxiu shook his head and asked, "What are your plans for the future?"

"Of course I'll follow the young master." Mo Zhu answered without thinking.

Seeing that he didn't understand what he meant, Lu Mingxiu had no choice but to continue, "You're not young anymore. Have you ever thought about your future? For example, getting married and having children?"

"Young Master!" Mo Zhu was shy and puzzled, and there was also some worry and fear in her confusion. Doesn't the young master want her anymore?

Lu Mingxiu had no choice but to say: "I will probably leave the capital, what about you?"

Mo Zhu still said the same thing: "Wherever the young master goes, I will go."

"The place I'm going is very far." Lu Xiuming emphasized again.

"Master, do you think I can't endure hardship?" Mo Zhu was very sad: "It must be because I am too stupid and useless that the master despises me and doesn't want me to..."

"Stop," Lu Mingxiu said helplessly, interrupting him. "You've been with me for six years. You know my situation very well. I don't want you to regret it later."

"If it weren't for the young master and the young lady, Mo Zhu would have disappeared from the world long ago," Mo Zhu said seriously. "From then on, Mo Zhu made up his mind to follow the young master for the rest of his life."

Having said that, he paused for a moment before speaking, his tone filled with a hint of pleading and uneasiness: "Master, no matter where you go, don't leave Mo Zhu behind."

Lu Mingxiu sighed softly and rubbed Mo Zhu's head with his hand: "As long as you don't regret it."

Mo Zhu certainly won't regret it.

In his heart, he had long regarded the young master as a family member.

Since Mo Zhu wanted to follow, Lu Xiuming didn't need to consider anything else. Especially when he heard Mo Zhu talking about the news he had heard before, he became even more restless.

After entering the city, they went straight to another place, and after finishing their business, they returned to their home in the south of the city.

The Lu family's house is a two-story building. He lives in the small courtyard at the back, and his uncle's family lives in the front courtyard.

To go to the backyard, one usually has to pass through the front yard, but Lu Mingxiu didn't want to have too much involvement with the eldest wife's family, so he simply opened a door in the backyard to make it convenient and free to enter and exit.

After returning to the yard, the two had just sat down to rest for a while when someone came to the gate.

No need to ask, there is no one else except my uncle's family.

"Hey, are you back after sending your unlucky little sister off?"

When Mrs. Wu saw him, she began to gloat over his misfortune.

Lu Mingxiu glanced at her indifferently and ignored her.

Seeing him like this, Lu Qian on the side immediately expressed dissatisfaction: "Is this how you treat your elders?"

"That's right," Lu Chao also said, "When I heard that Lu Yao was in trouble, my mother was worried about you. Now it seems that we were just being too sentimental."

As he spoke, he looked at Wu: "Mom, I told you, big brother is not the type to get anxious and upset over a small matter. You are just worrying about nothing."

Lu Qian agreed, "That's right. Not only will they not appreciate it, they'll even accuse you of meddling in their business."

Lu Qian and Lu Chao are the uncle's second daughter and youngest son. Both are older than Lu Mingxiu, and Lu Chao is only one year younger than him. Logically, they should be able to play together because of their similar age, but the opposite is true. No matter what these two siblings do, they will intentionally or unintentionally compare with their brother and sister. Lu Mingxiu doesn't want to get involved in these things and usually avoids them.

The same is true today.

He waited until these people finished speaking before speaking calmly: "Thank you for your concern. I am not feeling well, so I will not entertain you."

After saying that, he smiled at them apologetically, obviously not in good spirits.

Mo Zhu was a perceptive person. He quickly stepped forward to support him, and did not forget to say: "Young Master, you are really something. You are always so stubborn. If the young lady knew, she would definitely scold you."

He helped the people into the room while muttering to himself. Finally, the three people who came to cause trouble were allowed to do whatever they wanted.

Anyway, the young master said that they are clean and have no wrongdoing, so they are not afraid of losing anything.

Mrs. Wu was about to die of anger at the other party's attitude. Thinking of her own plan, she changed her initial harshness and said with concern: "Since you are not feeling well, then have a good rest." After saying this, she sighed softly and said with some worry: "You are not young anymore, and your health is not good. It is impossible for everyone around you to take care of you. Chao'er is only one year younger than you, and the eldest is almost eight years old."

Lu Mingxiu naturally knew what she was planning, but he pretended not to understand and thanked her for her concern. "Mo Zhu is taking good care of me."

"How can they be the same?" Mrs. Wu said anxiously, "The relationship between a wife and a servant is unclear."

When Mo Zhu heard this, he immediately quit: "Young Master is Mo Zhu's savior. Mo Zhu will do his best to take care of Young Master for the rest of his life."

"Well," Lu Mingxiu smiled, "I believe you."

After he finished speaking, he looked at Wu and the others and said, "I think the current situation is good. There is no need to change it."

After saying that, without giving you, Wu and the others any chance, he went into the house with Mo Zhu.

Looking at the tightly closed door, Wu spat, "Bah, you really think you're such a hot commodity!"

If this house was not under the name of their eldest wife, and if the second wife had been an official for so many years and had many friends of the same age, this little bastard must have a lot of good things hidden in his hands, she would not care whether this sickly guy could get married or whether he was dead or alive.

Oh no, it would be better if they died, then everything left by the second wife would be theirs.

Thinking of this, her eyes rolled and she had to think about it carefully.
