As he spoke, Jun Yannuo walked over, poured Qin Kou'er a cup of tea and placed it beside her, then sat down next to her.
"But now that Lan Linxue knows about your background, will he get in the way and interfere in our affairs in the future?"
Qin Kou'er shook her head, picked up the teacup, and blew on it. "Although Lan Linxue can be impulsive at times, he's more clear-headed than us when it comes to important matters. He won't hold us back; in fact, he'll help us out. I think this is a good idea. It lets him know what we mean, and it saves me from having to do everything behind his back. It's very inconvenient for the two of us to be doing things secretly. If things really get out of hand because we're keeping secrets from each other, that would only make things worse!"
Jun Yannuo nodded in agreement. "What you said makes a lot of sense! It's always better for everyone to share information with each other!"
Qin Kou'er nodded, then looked at Jun Yannuo and asked, "How is Meiyan doing? She really infuriated me this time! Why doesn't she think things through before acting? Luckily, it was Lan Linxue's people this time. Just imagine how we would handle the consequences if Lan Xiuyuan had pulled such a trick!"
Jun Yannuo smiled and sighed softly, "In the end, you've spoiled this girl rotten! She has no sense of crisis at all! Consider this a lesson for her. Don't worry, she's alright. She's taking care of Shuanghua in that room!"
Qin Kou'er chuckled: "Those two have never gotten along, and now Mei Yan is taking care of him. It's just karma, they're destined to be enemies!"
Jun Yannuo and Qin Kou'er chatted and laughed as they discussed the events that had occurred at Qin Tiange over the past two days.
Just as the two were about to investigate further the secrets Lan Linxue was hiding in those four counties, Mo Hun suddenly walked in.
Qin Kou'er's eyes lit up when she saw Mo Hun. "When did you get back? Have you arranged everything outside? I've missed you so much these past few days!"
Mo Hun showed no reaction on his face, only nodded, and then looked at Qin Kou'er, saying softly, "Gu Minglang is here!"
Qin Kou'er frowned slightly and reflexively turned to look at Jun Yannuo.
Jun Yannuo said calmly, "I'm afraid it's because the Crown Prince asked them to take the silver!"
Qin Kou'er nodded, "I guessed it was about this!" Then she looked up at Mo Hun and said, "Please invite Lord Gu to my study!"
Mo Hun bowed his head to accept the order, then turned and left.
Qin Kou'er sighed, turned to Jun Yannuo and said, "I'm going out to take a look!"
As he spoke, he stood up and started to walk out.
Jun Yannuo also stood up, intending to go out and take a look with Qin Kou'er.
"Where are you going?" Qin Kou'er turned to look at Jun Yannuo and asked, puzzled.
"Of course I'll come along and see for myself!"
Qin Kou'er frowned helplessly and grabbed Jun Yannuo's arm. "Hey, Chief Steward, do you really not want to live anymore?! You haven't had a proper night's sleep in days! You don't care about your life, but I do! Lan Linxue is about to cause trouble again. If you collapse, how am I supposed to manage such a huge situation by myself? It's almost dawn, you should go get some sleep!"
Jun Yannuo looked at Qin Kou'er and opened his mouth to speak.
"Alright! You really don't need to say anything more! I won't agree to anything you say! Do you think I can't handle Gu Minglang? Go to sleep! Come find me again when you've woken up!"
With that, Qin Kou'er gave Jun Yannuo a warning look, then turned and walked quickly toward her study.
Jun Yannuo watched Qin Kou'er's retreating figure and sighed softly. Turning back to look at the unfinished letters, he sighed even more. However, he decided to listen to Qin Kou'er and go to sleep first.
Just as Qin Kou'er said, this is definitely not the time for him to fall ill.
Qin Kou'er entered the study and saw Gu Minglang sitting in a chair with a gloomy expression.
When Gu Minglang saw Qin Kou'er come in, he stood up.
Qin Kou'er quickly smiled and took two steps forward, bowing her head in greeting, "Lord Gu, why have you come to Qin Tian Pavilion at this hour? It's still early, and some of our hospitality may have been lacking. Please forgive me!"
As she spoke, Qin Kou'er had her maid bring out her treasured aged Pu'er tea to entertain Gu Minglang.
When everything was ready and only Gu Minglang and Qin Kou'er were left in the room, Gu Minglang suddenly let out a long sigh.
"Sect Leader Qin, to be honest, I've come today to ask you for a favor! Alas, it's really hard for me to bring myself to ask!"
As he spoke, Gu Minglang let out another long sigh.
Gu Minglang only came to Qin Kou'er because he had no other choice.
Jiang Ming sent someone to tell him to prepare 300,000 taels of silver.
But even if Gu Minglang's home was indeed raided, he wouldn't have 300,000 taels of silver.
Although he sometimes received money from salt merchants through his calligraphy and paintings, he couldn't stand the rampant corruption in officialdom, yet he couldn't step in to stop this darkness. So, he could only turn a blind eye and do nothing, serving as a sinecure official.
But if you don't take things seriously, no one will care about you.
After a while, the merchants in Yangzhou stopped taking Gu Minglang seriously. With Jiang Ming and Hu Tianyong protecting them, who would care about a mere figurehead like him?
Jiang Ming's calligraphy and paintings became increasingly worthless. He certainly didn't have 30,000 taels of silver, let alone 300,000 taels.
But at this critical juncture, he absolutely could not go against Lan Linxue's wishes, so with no other choice, he could only beg Qin Kou'er for help.
He had encountered Qin Kou'er several times. Although she was shrewd and capable, she was a genuinely altruistic person who did good deeds for the people. Gu Minglang could say that without Qin Kou'er, at least hundreds or thousands of people in Yangzhou would have starved to death. Therefore, deep down, he greatly admired Qin Kou'er, this heroine among women.
