Chapter 17 Nobody can stop me, I'm going to jail.

Upon hearing Qin Kou'er's words, Mei Yan immediately wiped away her tears and ran over to Qin Kou'er, anxiously asking, "Master, where are you going?"

Qin Kou'er smiled slightly, "I'm going to jail!"

Upon hearing Qin Kou'er's words, and then turning to look at the stern-faced Chen Kuangzheng, Mei Yan burst into tears and sat down on the ground: "Is there no justice left! The one who is bullied goes to jail, while the one who bullies can swagger around riding horses and sedan chairs! Heaven above, in broad daylight, such injustice can still occur under the emperor's very nose, I really can't live like this!"

Meiyan cried as she pointed at Lord Chen, which immediately drew angry stares from those around her at Chen Kuangzheng.

Qin Kou'er looked at Mei Yan with a mix of amusement and exasperation. This little girl must have thought she was being locked up by these officials, which was why she dared to throw a tantrum in the street.

Qin Kou'er went over and helped Mei Yan up, then whispered in her ear, "Whoever comes to see me tomorrow morning, you cry in front of them! The more miserable the better!"

Mei Yan was taken aback, but she still obediently stood up with Qin Kou'er.

"Alright! Stop crying. I'm going to file a complaint, not to go to jail! Take your men back right now! Remember, lock the gate. If anyone dares to break in at night, open the gate and unleash the dogs. Don't hold back!"

With that, Qin Kou'er turned to look at Chen Kuangzheng and smiled slightly: "Let's go, Lord Chen. Let's go back and write the complaint now!"

Chen Kuangzheng looked at Qin Kou'er, sighed, and nodded. He now understood that even if Qin Kou'er couldn't kill Xu Ming this time, she was determined to make him suffer. Otherwise, she wouldn't have come to see him, the Inspector of the Censorate, in the middle of the night.

As Qin Kou'er walked back with Chen Kuangzheng, she pondered how to write the complaint to deliver an even more ruthless blow to Xu Ming.

Chen Kuangzheng looked at Qin Kou'er and suddenly said with a faint smile, "Miss Qin, are you deliberately trying to cause me trouble?"

Qin Kou'er turned to look at him. "What? Is Lord Chen afraid?"

Chen Kuangzheng shook his head. "Since I became an official, I have never known what fear is! But Miss Qin knows that she can't touch Xu Ming with this incident, so why did she still make such a big fuss?"

Qin Kou'er snorted, "Of course I know that my little thing can't touch Xu Ming in the slightest, but being unable to touch him doesn't mean I can't bite him. I'm doing this with the intention of biting him! Otherwise, there will be no place for me, Qin Kou'er, to stand on in this capital city."

Chen Kuangzheng understood what Qin Kou'er meant when he heard her say that.

"But I'm afraid the threshold of my Censorate will be worn down by footsteps tomorrow morning!" Chen Kuangzheng said with a long sigh.

Qin Kou'er turned to look at him, smiled, and said, "Don't worry, Lord Chen. I don't have a single tael of silver to extort from Kou'er, but I have plenty of people to repair the threshold of your righteous and impartial esteemed lord! However, this time Kou'er still needs to rely on your righteous words!"

This time, Chen Kuangzheng snorted and remained silent.

After Qin Kou'er returned with Chen Kuangzheng, she quickly wrote the petition.

Chen Kuangzheng took a look and immediately felt that it would be a disservice to the evil deeds written on the indictment if Xu Ming, that old bastard, wasn't killed directly.

"Lord Chen, do you think my petition is well-written? Won't people laugh at me?"

Qin Kou'er watched with amusement as Chen Kuangzheng's expression kept changing.

Chen Kuangzheng sighed and said, "I have served in the Censorate for more than ten years, and Miss Qin's petition is the best I have ever written. Looking at it, there is truly no more unjust case than Miss Qin's!"

Qin Kou'er chuckled, ignoring Chen Kuangzheng's sarcastic remarks, and asked Master Zhou, "Master, which cell are you planning to put me in? I'm a little tired after all this trouble all night!"

Zhou Cong glanced at Chen Kuangzheng, then smiled slightly and said to Qin Kou'er, "Miss Qin's case is already so unjustly accused, I can't very well add insult to injury. How about this, let's put Miss Qin in the cleanest cell!"

Qin Kou'er blinked. "Wouldn't that make me look unjustly wronged? Not pitiful enough?"

Zhou Cong immediately waved his hand, "No! If Miss Qin goes in, it will already be very pitiful and unjust!"

Qin Kou'er was immediately satisfied and turned to Chen Kuangzheng, giving him a slight bow: "Lord Chen, please get some rest. Someone will be knocking on the door early tomorrow morning! Try to sleep as much as you can!"

After saying that, Qin Kou'er turned around and left with great satisfaction.

As Chen Kuangzheng watched Qin Kou'er's retreating figure, he suddenly realized that he might not be able to sleep all night.

Qin Kou'er's cell was inside. It looked gloomy, but compared to the stinking place next door, her cell was definitely like a five-star hotel.

Zhou Cong had someone bring Qin Kou'er a new pair of bedding, knowing that this ancestor had intricate connections with everyone above, and could not be easily neglected.

He wanted to bring Qin Kou'er a pot of tea, but Qin Kou'er stopped him.

"Master Zhou, you can't be too nice to me! Otherwise, if someone comes tomorrow morning, no one will think I've been wronged!"

With that, Qin Kou'er walked in with a smile, carrying the quilt, and finally instructed someone to lock the cell door properly.

Zhou Cong watched Qin Kou'er's retreating figure and suddenly let out a long sigh. This young lady must never rise to prominence again, or countless people will be left eating potstickers (a Chinese idiom for being cheated on).

Qin Kou'er slept soundly through the night without any dreams until dawn.

But just as she said, Chen Kuang had only managed to close his eyes for a short nap just as dawn was breaking. Before he could even settle into a deep sleep, the gates of the Censorate were pounded on so hard they nearly fell down.
