Lan Linxue opened her eyes and looked around; the room was empty.
Lan Linxue reached out and touched it, letting out a sigh in her heart.
Yesterday, after Qin Kou'er finished telling me the plan, she turned around and rushed back to make detailed arrangements. I tried to stop her, but I couldn't.
Originally, I wanted to show her where the things in the palace would be placed, since this would be their home in the future. If the princess was not satisfied with the decoration, then everything would be for nothing.
However, Qin Kou'er insisted that there wasn't enough time and she needed to go back immediately to make arrangements. As for those exquisite ornaments, artificial rocks, and the like, she said that the craftsmen from the Ministry of Works could just leave them there.
Lan Linxue was so angry that his head started to ache. He had originally hoped that Qin Kou'er's arrival would finally allow him to cuddle with his wife and get a good night's sleep in their new home. But instead, he was left alone in his room again last night.
Lan Linxue rolled around on the bed for a while in frustration before sitting up and calling for someone in an annoyed tone.
The servants rushed in to help Lan Linxue change her clothes and comb her hair.
While fussing over herself, Lan Linxue thought about what she would say to the Emperor when she arrived at the palace.
Qin Kou'er wants to hold a grand embroidery exhibition, and it will be held in the palace. This requires Lan Shanyang's approval. However, Lan Shanyang has always disliked these women causing trouble in the palace, so he needs to come up with a good explanation to ensure that the event can proceed smoothly.
The thought that Qin Kou'er was doing this to help Lan Xiuyuan made Lan Linxue feel extremely uncomfortable. But then she thought about how Hu Tianyong and Lan Xiuyuan had become enemies and how Qin Kou'er was openly becoming a concubine, and Lan Linxue felt much better.
In short, as soon as Lan Linxue woke up in the morning, her heart was caught in a state of turmoil.
The morning court session began, and as expected, Xu Ming did not attend today.
According to what Chen Kuangzheng secretly told Lan Linxue, Lord Xu is currently at home cursing Lan Xiuyuan and Hu Tianyong, and he has vowed that Chen Kuangzheng, the censor, must properly supervise the assassination attempt on Lan Jiayuan in Jiangnan.
Lan Linxue knew that the two sides were truly at odds, so he focused all his attention on the matter he needed to handle later.
Lan Shanyang did come to the court today, but his complexion was still not very good.
Looking at his father's face, Lan Xiuyuan was very worried. His eyes showed more concern than others, which gave Lan Linxue goosebumps.
Lan Shanyang didn't mention a word about what happened yesterday, but judging from his overall attitude, he was still very concerned about it.
In the past, Lan Jiayuan was like an invisible man in the court, never attracting the emperor's attention. But today, Lan Shanyang actually spoke to him privately. More importantly, Lan Shanyang revealed a message: a prince is a prince, and a subject is a subject; Xu Ming's actions have nothing to do with Lan Jiayuan. Don't try to catch everyone in one fell swoop.
Lan Jiayuan was almost moved to tears, but Lan Xiuyuan coldly made up his mind that the Emperor's love in this world, apart from Lan Linxue, must all belong to him. He would never allow anyone else to share this affection.
As for Lan Linxue, he was completely unimpressed by Lan Shanyang's approach of giving a slap followed by a sweet treat. He was now thinking about what to say later.
Finally, the court session ended, and for the first time, Lan Linxue took the initiative to keep Lan Xiuyuan and Lan Jiayuan behind.
"Don't leave yet. Let's go to the back together and see how Father's condition is."
Lan Xiuyuan nodded without speaking, and Lan Jiayuan also remained silent without raising any objections.
The three people walked back with different expressions, and just as they turned the corner, they heard someone call out behind them.
Lan Linxue stopped, and the three of them turned around to look.
Lan Qingtian walked over slowly with measured steps.
"Oh? How strange, the three of you actually came to see the Emperor together? What's wrong, are you all out of your minds and having cramps?"
Lan Qingtian looked at the three people in front of him, laughing and teasing them at the same time. Finally, he walked up to them and waved his hand, "However, at least you three have a conscience and know to check on your father. Come on, I'll go with you!"
Lan Linxue immediately laughed and said, "With our royal uncle here, we don't have to worry about Father's bad temper! Hahaha!"
Lan Qingtian glared at Lan Linxue, annoyed. "Am I here to be your cannon fodder? Bah! Can't you say something to make your royal uncle happy all day long?"
"Uncle, you are so handsome and charming, you are invincible!" Lan Linxue immediately chimed in with a few sweet words, then put her arm around Lan Qingtian's shoulder and walked towards Lan Shanyang's study.
Lan Shanyang had already received the news that the children had all come, but he held a book and quietly read it, seemingly not taking it to heart at all.
Upon arriving at the entrance of the Imperial Study, Lan Qingtian and several others knelt down to pay their respects. After a while, Lan Shanyang slowly said, "Come in!"
The group of people then stood up and went inside.
Lan Qingtian entered the room and saw Lan Shanyang reading a book. He couldn't help but smile and ask, "Brother, you're not feeling well, why are you reading?"
Lan Shanyang raised her head and glanced at Lan Qingtian indifferently. "Reading books won't kill me, but you two will drive me crazy! Tell me, should I read books or look at you guys!"
Lan Qingtian immediately touched his nose and fell silent.
Lan Linxue walked over with a smile, poured Lan Shanyang a cup of tea, and then handed it to him in a flattering manner, saying, "Father, you're wrong to say that! We brothers haven't really done anything wrong! Look, aren't we all here to see you together? So, sometimes it's because you think too much that your health is not good!"
