Chapter 43 One Death Is One Less

Upon hearing this, Hu Qianyu immediately tried to break free, but Qin Meiying's feet wouldn't budge no matter what she did.

Hu Qianyu started cursing loudly on the ground, hurling all sorts of nasty insults. But as she cursed, she began to cry uncontrollably, desperately begging Qin Meiying to have mercy and spare her son.

Qin Meiying looked down at Hu Qianyu, a deep sadness slowly creeping into her eyes.

With a long sigh, she suddenly squatted down and forcefully pulled Hu Qianyu up to sit against the chair leg.

Hu Qianyu looked at Qin Meiying in front of her and just cried loudly. At this moment, she no longer knew how to explain the entanglements of this life.

Qin Meiying looked at her, a bitter smile suddenly appearing on her face: "In this life, we've both reached a point of no return because of one man. Thinking about this life, it's truly inexplicable! Now that you're leaving, I'll see you off. I just hope you understand clearly that the things you longed for in this life never happened. I hope that when you live your next life, you'll understand one thing: sometimes, killing others doesn't bring happiness! It's just the beginning of your even greater misfortune!"

As she spoke, Qin Meiying slowly stood up from beside Hu Qianyu. This outcome was enough; her heart was weary, and she didn't want to see any more cruelty.

Even if Hu Qianyu deserved it, she's already been punished. There's no need to say anything more; if she keeps pestering her, she'll only suffer in the end!

As Hu Qianyu watched Qin Meiying turn and slowly walk away, her tears flowed even more freely. Looking at Qin Meiying's retreating figure, she uttered only her last words: "Your Majesty, all the mistakes I've made in this life are my fault! I beg you, I beg you to spare my last shred of compassion and let my son go! He didn't kill anyone from the Qin family, he didn't harm you, and even if he wasn't kind enough to the Crown Prince, the Crown Prince is still alive. Please have mercy and spare my son!"

These were Hu Qianyu's last words. She knew she had committed too many sins and there was no room for redemption. Therefore, she could only place her hopes on her son.

Even the most wicked person in the world would never want to see their son beheaded; this is the last vestige of humanity.

Qin Meiying slowly stopped, but remained silent.

Qin Kou'er, who had been standing to the side, suddenly spoke up, "Hu Qianyu! You can't protect your son! Because this matter isn't decided by Her Majesty, but by all the wronged souls of my Qin family!"

As she spoke, Qin Kou'er suddenly stepped forward and pressed hard on Hu Qianyu's neck. Hu Qianyu took one last look at the person in front of her and slowly closed her eyes.

Qin Meiying turned her head and quietly looked at Qin Kou'er.

Qin Kou'er did not flinch, but instead met her gaze calmly.

Finally, Qin Meiying sighed, took one last look at Hu Qianyu, and turned to leave.

Outside the door, Lan Shanyang stood with his hands behind his back, staring blankly at the moon in the sky.

When Qin Meiying walked over, he slowly turned around and gently pulled the woman in front of him into his arms.

"Alright! It's all over! Don't be sad!"

Qin Meiying leaned against her husband's chest, feeling a sudden pang of sadness. Instead of feeling relieved, all the grievances and sorrows of the past years surged up, and she finally burst into tears in Lan Shanyang's arms.

Lan Shanyang quickly comforted her softly, then glanced at Qin Kou'er behind him, and slowly walked out with his wife in his arms.

Qin Kou'er took a deep breath, then turned to look at Hu Qianyu on the ground and waved to the people behind her.

Immediately, the three-foot-long white silk ribbon that had been prepared beforehand was brought over.

Qin Kou'er pulled the white silk ribbon and personally fastened a button for Hu Qianyu, then put it around Hu Qianyu's neck and tightened it forcefully.

Hu Qianyu finally hanged herself on the chair. She died without any pain; instead, a faint smile graced her peaceful face.

Qin Kou'er finally came out of the room. As she stood in the courtyard, gazing at the bright moon in the sky, she softly uttered three words: "The first one!"

After saying that, Qin Kou'er walked out without looking back.

The gates of the Cold Palace were closed again, just as they had been countless times before, and no one knew what had happened that night.

Lan Linxue knew that Qin Kou'er had been kept in the palace by her father for a whole day and hadn't returned. She couldn't help but jump up and down and rushed into the palace to search everywhere.

The first place they went to was Kunning Palace, but they were driven out by the guards with malice and no mercy.

The second place we went to was the Imperial Study, but we were stopped by a panoramic view before we even got to the door.

This infuriated him, and he stood in the courtyard shouting for a long time, but no one came out to look at him. Finally, he felt that all the fuss was pointless, so he started running around the entire palace.

This is strange, no matter how Lan Linxue searched, no one had ever seen Qin Kou'er.

Finally, when Lan Linxue led her people toward the Cold Palace, she saw Qin Kou'er with a cold expression.

"Kou'er!"

Overjoyed, Lan Linxue rushed over and hugged Qin Kou'er tightly before carefully examining her.

Finding that Qin Kou'er had no injuries whatsoever, he looked at her with relief and said, "Where have you been? I haven't been able to find you all day!"

Qin Kou'er looked at Lan Linxue with icy cold eyes, devoid of any emotion.

Lan Linxue felt a chill run down her spine from his gaze and tentatively asked, "What's wrong? Were you bullied?"

Qin Kou'er glared at Lan Linxue for a moment before asking, "How many wives do you plan to marry in the future?"

"What?" Lan Linxue thought she hadn't heard clearly and asked again.

"I'm asking you, how many wives do you plan to marry in the future?" Qin Kou'er suddenly raised her voice, glaring at Lan Linxue like a tigress, startling him.

Slowly extending a finger, Lan Linxue said with certainty, "One! You!"

Qin Kou'er, however, did not relax at all: "What about concubines? How many concubines do you want to take?"

Lan Linxue felt that Qin Kou'er's expression was very unfriendly today, as if she wanted to devour someone.

"No! Not a single one!"

Qin Kou'er stared at Lan Linxue as if she wanted to dig a hole in her.

Lan Linxue widened her eyes, trying her best to prove her innocence.

After a long pause, Qin Kou'er coldly uttered two words: "Lies!"

He reached out, grabbed Lan Linxue's ear, and left.

Do you think there will be a midnight watch today?
