Chapter 1 Teasing the Person in the Painting Late at Night

In July, the nights in Yangzhou are filled with the fragrance of flowers and the enchanting scenery of willow-lined banks.

However, tonight seemed different. Dense clouds swirled in the night sky, forming various terrifying shapes. The originally gentle evening breeze had strangely brought a chill, slowly encroaching on the entire earth.

In the spacious study, the aroma of incense rose gently, mingling with the night breeze that caused the white gauze screen to sway slightly. A graceful figure was intently drawing eyebrows on a hanging portrait, meticulously applying ink to the subject.

Several maids stood to the side, some holding tea, some holding fans, and some grinding ink, but they were all very quiet and did not make a sound.

The man in black entered to find this tranquil scene before him. His footsteps were silent, and he stopped just behind the white veil, bowing respectfully.

Finally, the woman finished the last stroke between the eyebrows of the figure in the painting. She slowly took two steps back, carefully examined the painting for a while in the bright candlelight, and then nodded in satisfaction. "Only by applying the vermilion mark between his eyebrows like this can it truly captivate the soul and melt bones. Don't you think so, Ink Soul?"

The woman's voice wasn't particularly clear or melodious, but it was low and deep with a hint of hoarseness, like a drop of ink falling into clear water, instantly transforming into a lotus flower in the water, captivating the listener in a daze.

"Yes, the Pavilion Master's stroke is the finishing touch!" the black-clad man named Mo Hun said coldly. "Pavilion Master, the person you've been waiting for has arrived!"

The woman turned around, her beauty radiant in an instant!

The delicate features between her brows made her purple silk dress, adorned with clouds and flowing water, pale in comparison. The hidden allure in her eyes put even the peonies outside the window to shame, and her jade-like skin and rosy lips made the roses in the corner pale in comparison. Such a woman, even if she were to fall into the Jade Pool, would be too much for the gods to bear.

This is Qin Kou'er, the richest woman in the world and the head of Qin Tian Pavilion.

“When people come, we should always meet them! It’s not right to take their heads and then let them die with their eyes open in disgrace. At the very least, it doesn’t seem fair! The most important thing in doing business is to be reasonable and just.”

Qin Kou'er spoke softly, her expression indifferent. She took the handkerchief, wiped her hands, and slowly walked out.

Mo Hun immediately bowed and retreated, as if even glancing at her would be a desecration.

"Is the Pavilion Master still going tonight?" Mo Hun's figure moved slowly with Qin Kou'er's steps.

Qin Kou'er sighed, "Go! Of course I'll go! I want to personally watch the heads of all officials of the fourth rank and above be taken off, otherwise how can I face the current emperor!"

"Yes! I understand!"

Mo Hun straightened up only after Qin Kou'er reached the door, his dark, unfathomable eyes fixed on her retreating figure. He took the cloak from the maid and carefully draped it over her shoulders. "Sect Master, it's windy and rainy tonight! Be careful not to catch a cold!"

Qin Kou'er stood at the doorway, looking at the moonlight outside and the faint darkness in the distance, and smiled slightly: "A dark night for murder! Murders are especially interesting to watch on nights like this!"

The rain started to fall lightly before midnight.

The wind, however, grew stronger and colder.

Zangmei Ridge outside Yangzhou City.

More than a dozen fine horses were escorting an extremely exquisite elephant carriage as it sped along the path.

This wasn't an official road, and they were traveling hastily in the rain late at night; no matter how you looked at it, these people seemed rather strange.

Qin Kou'er's sedan chair blocked their path.

At this moment, Qin Kou'er was sitting in the center of her specially made sedan chair, leisurely reading a book while drinking tea and being illuminated by four huge luminous pearls.

Qin Kou'er never liked candlelight.

The intense fire made her mind unsettled and her mood uneasy, so her sedan chair was inlaid with luminous pearls.

Mo Hun, accompanied by twenty men in black, rode on blindfolded steeds, guarding Qin Kou'er's sedan chair like ghosts in the night, and blocking the way for others.

Finally, the two groups met.

The other party clearly hadn't expected anyone to dare block their path on such a night. Immediately, the leader stepped forward, pointing his longsword at Qin Kou'er: "Who goes there?"

His voice was deep and powerful.

Qin Kou'er continued drinking tea and reading, seemingly oblivious to what was happening.

Mo Hun slowly rode out, pointing his black longsword at the other man, and said coldly, "I want the contents of your sedan chair and your head! Those who are not involved, leave! Stay, die!"

"How dare you!"

Immediately, all of the enemy's guards drew their swords and daggers.

"If you don't get out of the way, you'll all die!"

Mo Hun doesn't like to talk. He's here to kill, and talking too much is a waste of time.

He slowly drew his black sword and stood still in the wind and rain. Instantly, he, like the black sword, leaped off his horse.

The people behind them also flew out.

In an instant, the sounds of swords clashing, shouts of fierce battle, and cries of killing filled the air.

suddenly--

"Isn't this so noisy? Can't a person get any sleep?"

A very soft voice came from the elephant-drawn carriage opposite.

Instantly, all the shouts of battle ceased, leaving only the sounds of swords clashing.

Qin Kou'er heard these words. She was slightly taken aback and slowly put down the book in her hand.

"stop!"

Mo Hun and everyone else immediately stopped fighting and retreated instantly.

Qin Kou'er stood up and stepped out of the sedan chair.

The person next to her quickly opened a bamboo umbrella to protect Qin Kou'er from the wind and rain.

However, Qin Kou'er did not let her subordinates hold an umbrella for her. Instead, she took the folding umbrella with her bare hands and slowly walked towards the other side.

The guards opposite immediately tried to intercept her. However, for some reason, no matter how they reached out to stop her, their arms would go numb just before they touched Qin Kou'er, and their hands would naturally fall down.
