The boss raised an eyebrow, very suspicious: "Are you here to look for my brother? Aren't we all on vacation?"
"My brother didn't come home over the weekend. The security guard said he left this morning and won't be back until after 4pm."
The boss said, "How would I know if what you said is true?" He pointed to a pile of bricks outside and said, "If you want to eat, you can help me move these bricks under the eaves and stack them neatly."
There are quite a lot of bricks there, and the weather is very hot now. It would be strange if I didn’t get heatstroke if I moved them under the sun.
Lin Lu held Song Chen's hand and said, "I don't want to eat anymore. I'm not hungry. Let's go to the school gate and wait for my brother."
Song Chen stared at the boss and said, "I can help you move the things, but you have to give us food and two yuan. We need to take a bus home soon."
The boss looked at the impudent Song Chen and laughed, saying, "Okay, as long as you can get rid of that pile of bricks, I'll agree to whatever you want."
"Deal, please make us a bowl of fried rice first."
Song Chen led Lin Lu to the stool in the house and sat down: "Eat your meal, and then go to the school gate to wait for Brother Lin Cheng. I'll be done moving it in a while, and I can buy you some ice cream when I get the money."

The boss scooped up a lot with one spoon. Lin Lu couldn't eat too much, so he gave half to Song Chen.
After the two of them finished eating, the sun above their heads showed no sign of resting. They didn't know how long the pile of bricks had been scorching under the sun. As soon as they got close, they could feel the heat coming from the bricks, to the extent that it felt like they would get burned if they touched them.
Lin Lu followed him to the door, and Song Chen urged her to wait at the school gate.
Lin Lu refused: "Brother won't be back for several hours. I'll move with you."
She was rather thin, and Song Chen was worried that she might get heatstroke.
He repeatedly advised: "Then go sit inside and don't get sunburned."
Lin Lu had been stubborn and obstinate since childhood. He turned his head and ignored him, enduring the heat from the bricks. He stacked four bricks together and moved them under the eaves to place them neatly.

Lin Lu: "Why should I listen to you? You're not my brother. Hurry up and move. Come home early after moving. My parents may have noticed that I'm not home."
Lin Lu has realized his impulsiveness and should not have come.

He stacked more than a dozen bricks, and when he held them up, they were taller than his head. Lin Lu was afraid that the bricks would fall and hit his feet.
The cicadas in the trees were chirping, making people feel irritated for no reason.
