Chapter 44: Honoring Fourth Aunt

That being said, when parents know their children are going to celebrate a classmate’s birthday, they will still ask them to bring gifts.

This is a family education issue.

Even though Xia Ye's family had no parents and only an elderly grandmother, the old woman still asked him to bring a few eggs from home after hearing about it.

Shi Lei bought a hard-cover notebook, and Wang Youwei bought two ballpoint pens.

As the ancients said, the gift may be small but the sentiment is great, and the Lin family does not care about the small gifts between children.

As soon as the three of them entered the house, they gave the things to Lin Jingbei.

Shi Lei and Wang Youwei had come to the Lin family many times for tutoring, but this was Xia Ye's first time.

Lin Lu bought a lot of snacks and placed them on the coffee table in front of the sofa, along with melon seeds and fruit. She said, "The dishes aren't cooked yet, Jingbei, why don't you treat your friends to some snacks first?"

There was a children's cartoon playing on TV.

There is food and fun, everything is so beautiful like a dream.

Shi Lei was filled with envy and jealousy: "Brother Bei, I was told that you are the luckiest among us."

For so many years, his parents were reluctant to hold a birthday party for him, and every year they just gave him a bowl of noodles and a few candies.

It was also Xia Ye's first time to see this kind of birthday party, and he felt a little restrained. The naughty kid who was usually very naughty became unusually well-behaved and didn't even dare to eat anything.

Lin Lu smiled gently and said, "Don't be polite, everyone. Help yourself to whatever you want to eat. Your main task today is to eat and drink well."

Shi Lei patted his chest and said, "Don't worry, Teacher Lin, I won't be polite no matter who is polite."

Wang Youwei was more steady and said with a shy smile, "Okay, you're welcome."

Seeing that both of them had expressed their opinions, Xia Ye felt bad if he didn't say something. He scratched his head and said quickly, "Hello, Teacher Lin. My name is Xia Ye, and I sit behind Lin Jingbei."

Lin Lu praised: "What a handsome boy, don't be shy, eat as much as you want."

Xia Ye became more confident and smiled, showing his white teeth: "Thank you."

Worried that they wouldn't have enough fun, Lin Lu went to the yard to enjoy the cool air after greeting them.

Father Lin finished work early today, and the families of Song Lao Er and Song Lao San also came back with him.

"Aunt Four, we're here." Song Nan shouted loudly.

The twin daughters of the Song Song family have not had their holiday yet and are still in school. However, the eldest son Song Zidong and the eldest daughter of the Song Yuan family, Song Qinqin, also came together.

Last time, Song Zidong went to help his future father-in-law with some work. This time, he came along since he had time. He not only brought a gift for Lin Jingbei, but also bought one for Lin Lu.

"Fourth Aunt!"

Song Qinqin, still in her rebellious phase, followed suit and called out, "Fourth Aunt."

What’s funny is that Lin Lu didn’t recognize the two of them. Song Chen, who came out of the kitchen to get some fresh air, looked at her with a smirk on his face.

Lin Lu smiled awkwardly: "Everyone is here, please sit in the yard for a while, the food will be ready soon."

He glared at Song Chen and said, "Go and move the stool."

Song Chen introduced them, "This is Zidong from my second brother's family, and this is Qinqin from my third brother's family. They've grown up in the past few years and don't look like they were little anymore."

Song Zidong is twenty years old this year, only nine years younger than his uncle Song Chen. The relationship between the two is more like that of brothers.

When Lin Lu left Qingshui Town, he was still an eleven-year-old boy. In the blink of an eye, he grew taller than her and had a darker skin, so Lin Lu naturally couldn't recognize him.

But Song Zidong knew his fourth aunt Lin Lu.

When he was a child, the adults in the village said that Lin Lu would be his fourth aunt in the future, so whenever he saw Lin Lu, he would call her fourth aunt in a contemptuous manner.

At that time, Lin Lu was really annoyed with this little brat. She told him not to call her Fourth Aunt, but he didn't listen. Later, whenever she saw him, Lin Lu would just take a detour.

Lin Lu said stubbornly: "I know him."

Song Zidong smiled at Lin Lu and said, "Fourth Aunt will definitely remember me, right?"

Lin Lu hehe.

"I heard you're getting married this year. Where is the girl from?"

Song Zidong handed over the gift he bought for her: "She's from the village next door, my junior high school classmate. Fourth Aunt must come over when the time comes."

"I will definitely go." Lin Lu thought he was giving Lin Jingbei a gift, so he tilted his head and said, "They are inside, go in and give it to him."

Song Zidong: "I bought this specially for Fourth Aunt. I was ignorant when I was little, please don't blame me, Fourth Aunt."

Sooner or later she will be his fourth aunt anyway.

Lin Lu took it and saw that it was a skirt, a red one at that. She declined politely, "Why are you giving this to me? It's too polite. I don't need it."

Song Zidong: "Just take this gift as a token of my respect to you. I'm going to go in and see Jingbei."

Song Chen also helped, saying, "It's rare for Zidong to be so kind, so just accept it. You're his fourth aunt, so it's only right that he show respect to you."

In fact, there was something Song Chen had never dared to confess to her.

When the two of them were fighting the most fiercely, it was Song Chen who instructed Song Zidong to call Lin Lu "Fourth Aunt" whenever he saw her, just to piss her off.

Mrs. Song also said, "Just keep the little deer. It's a token of the child's love."

The whole family was smiling peacefully, except for Song Qinqin, who stood aside with a stern face, like a plague god, neither speaking nor laughing.

Of course Song Chen knew why.

He was dealt with.

She secretly fell in love with a gangster in the town, but was ordered to stop by Song Laosan and his wife.

She is not in school now and works in the orchard. Logically, her parents would not care about such things, but why did she fall in love with a gangster who sells pirated CDs?

Song Chen had seen the man once. His hair almost covered his eyes. He smoked all day long and had been chased for several blocks because of selling pirated CDs.

Song Laosan would never agree to them being together even if he died.

"Today is your brother's birthday. If you don't want to eat, just go back home. Don't look so gloomy here." Aunt San saw the dying expression and couldn't help but feel angry.

In the morning they asked her if she wanted to come over for dinner in the evening. Song Qinqin said that her classmate also had a birthday today and she had to go celebrate with her classmate, so she would not come with them.

Then, just now, right next to Luoxi Bridge.

Six people from two families saw them kissing quietly under the bridge.

Is this okay?

Song Laosan went up and kicked the gangster, then called Song Qinqin over. After being kicked, the gangster glared at Song Laosan and ran away.

Song Qinqin knew that her secret was exposed, so she didn't say a word along the way.

She was also angry, thinking that her parents didn't let her date Qian Jingming because they thought his family was too poor to afford the bride price.

She wouldn't compromise like that.

Song Chen advised: "Third sister-in-law, don't talk about it for now. Let's talk about it after we have dinner and go back."

Second Aunt Song also said: "Old Four is right. Qinqin is a little girl after all. Go back and teach her a lesson behind closed doors. Give her some face."

Song Laosan glanced at his wife and daughter, and the family of three reached a temporary agreement.
