Chapter 24 Will You Protect Me?

The next day, Chi Beibei woke up at six in the morning again. Her health value was now as high as 80, and she did not feel any discomfort, but her physical strength was still very low, only 45, which was not even up to the normal level.

In her previous life, she suffered severe school bullying due to Chi Mingchu's design. She was pinned down and beaten, and she couldn't even run faster than others.

The Chi family didn't care about her, and she didn't dare tell her teacher, let alone call the police, for fear of more serious retaliation.

Regardless of whether she will be bullied again in this life, Chi Beibei wants to prepare in advance. No matter what, she will never be bullied again.

It was still early, and after a quick wash, Chi Beibei prepared to run a few laps around the villa area to exercise his body, and then go to the foot of the mountain to buy some hot breakfast before returning to the Chi family to continue reviewing.

After running a lap, Chi Beibei met Chi Jiangmo who was about to go for a morning run. He was wearing a dark blue windbreaker, black trousers, white running shoes, and black gloves.

He smiled and waved to Chi Beibei, then ran to her side.

"Good morning, Beibei, are you jogging in the morning too?"

"Yeah." Chi Beibei's pale lips slightly opened, and she called out in an almost inaudible voice, "Brother."

Chi Jiangmo wanted to chat with Chi Beibei for a while, so he slowed down his pace and the two ran side by side.

After hesitating for a while, Chi Jiangmo said casually, "I haven't seen you at the dinner table these days."

"It's also fine for me to eat outside." Chi Beibei replied in a low voice.

Chi Jiangmo was silent for a moment. He had recently felt that Chi Beibei seemed to be distancing herself from the Chi family. Even when facing him, there was a faint sense of alienation between them, which was very different from the past.

She used to be very quiet and had a low sense of presence, but she was still dependent on him as her brother.

Is it because Mingchu is back?

Chi Jiangmo felt that as a brother, he needed to comfort his sister.

With an oath in his voice, he said: "Beibei, even if Mingchu comes back, you are still my sister, and I will protect you."

Chi Beibei stopped and looked into the distance with her watery eyes. The sun had risen by then, and the light fell softly on her body. She felt a hint of warmth.

Chi Beibei was panting lightly, and the cold breath she exhaled condensed into small water droplets, like mist. Her palm-sized face was looming behind the mist, making it difficult for Chi Jiangmo to see her expression.

"Brother, if Chi Mingchu wants to hurt me, will you protect me?" Even though Chi Jiangmo had already given the answer with his actions in his previous life, Chi Beibei still wanted to hear his personal answer.

Perhaps it was because his words just now were too serious that they gave her a little hope.

Maybe this life will be different?

"No." Chi Jiangmo shook his head without hesitation.

Chi Beibei glanced at him, smiled, and continued to look into the distance, the watery color in her eyes becoming more and more obvious.

It was rare to see Chi Beibei smile. Chi Jiangmo was stunned for a moment, then realized that his words might be ambiguous, and hurriedly explained: "Mingchu will not hurt you."

Mingchu was so well-behaved and sensible. Even though he accidentally lost her and she ended up in an orphanage, suffering from all kinds of ridicule and contempt, she was still an excellent student. So how could she bully Beibei?

He just couldn't believe that his own sister would hurt others.

"Really? My biological parents swapped us, and I stole her life, but she doesn't hate me at all?" Chi Beibei looked at Chi Jiangmo sarcastically.

Chi Jiangmo subconsciously opened his mouth: "No..." but swallowed his words back. No.

He lowered his head weakly and screamed in his heart, Beibei, you didn't steal Mingchu's life. The so-called switch was a lie told by your parents. Mingchu also knows it. She won't hate you, she won't.

Chi Beibei pressed on step by step. She wanted to know whether Chi Jiangmo would tell the truth: "No what?"

Chi Jiangmo closed his eyes in pain, not daring to look at Chi Beibei. He said, "Mingchu will not hate you."

He couldn't tell the truth, he couldn't. Mingchu had just come back with great difficulty, and his mother's attitude towards him had just softened. How could he go against his mother's decision?

It's okay, they all know that the story of the substitution is false and they won't take their anger out on Beibei for it.

They just want to make Beibei feel guilty. He will protect Beibei and will not let Beibei get hurt.

It doesn’t matter even if Beibei doesn’t know the truth.

Chi Jiangmo opened his eyes, looked up at Chi Beibei, and said again: "Mingchu will not hate you."

really.

Still refused to tell the truth.

Chi Beibei lowered her eyes to hide the watery light in them. When she raised her head again, she was smiling, but the smile did not reach her eyes: "I know, brother."

Chi Jiangmo wanted to say something, but Chi Beibei pushed him into the house: "Brother, go in quickly, you will be late for work later."

"Beibei, aren't you going back with your brother?"

"No, brother, I want to run one more lap."

Chi Jiangmo felt inexplicably uneasy, but when he saw Chi Beibei was still smiling and there was nothing unusual, he entered the Chi family villa.

He had just become the general manager and his foundation was not yet stable. He had to go to the company to work on weekends, and being late was always a bad thing.

Chi Beibei watched Chi Jiangmo enter the house, turned around with a smile, and a crystal tear flowed down her face and into her mouth.

It's salty.

"Host, don't be sad." Snowball curled up into a small ball and nestled beside Chi Beibei's neck.

Chi Beibei wiped his face and said, "It's okay, let's go buy breakfast together."

Chi Beibei was not in the mood to run anymore. He just walked down the mountain step by step with Snowball, not saying a word along the way.

Snowball felt that the host seemed to be in a low mood, so he did not return to the space. Instead, he quietly nestled in her neck, silently accompanying her.

"Grandpa Chen, good morning!" The breakfast stall at the foot of the mountain is relatively expensive, so Chi Beibei has been eating at the school gate these two days. However, Chi Beibei used to pass by here on his way to school, so he became familiar with the stall owner after a few visits.

Grandpa Chen is over sixty years old, with gray hair. He wears a thick military coat and a black sewing cap, with his hands tucked into his wide sleeves.

He greeted Chi Beibei with a smile: "Beibei, isn't today the weekend? Why are you up so early?"

Chi Beibei said as she picked out her breakfast: “Get up and exercise.”

"Okay, okay," Grandpa Chen said three "okays" in a row, with a simple smile on his wrinkled face, "Kids nowadays just want to sleep during holidays. It's rare that a kid like you still knows how to exercise."

"Keep it up!" Grandpa Chen encouraged.

Chi Beibei raised the corner of her mouth and paid the bill with a red face. Considering that Snowball was a foodie, she bought a little too much breakfast.

Fortunately, Grandpa Chen didn't ask any more questions.

As I was about to go back with my breakfast, I saw a figure beside me and smelled the familiar scent of cedar.

His voice was hoarse: "Why are your eyes red? Did you cry?"
