The phone call had barely ended when my inbox started flooded with emails.
The girl clicked on the app, looked at the text and pictures, and paused, stunned. She quickly realized what was happening, turned off her phone, and returned to An Ran and the others.
"What's wrong, Qiqi?"
Qi Jiu looked up at An Ran, sighed, and for the first time felt that she had dragged her friends into this mess because of her own affairs.
"Although you don't know anything yet, I must apologize to you now."
She thought that even if those people were targeting her, they would at least intervene. She never expected them to be so despicable, attacking her directly from the competition room. If An Ran hadn't been so capable, anyone else would have had a very low chance of winning this match.
An Ran was taken aback. "Why are you apologizing? I should thank you for coming here to cheer me on in this competition."
He scratched his head, somewhat puzzled, but Qi Jiu remained silent.
Because no matter how she explains it now, he won't understand; we'll have to wait until later.
"Qiqi, didn't you say there's a really good Chinese restaurant around here?" Yu Qi reached out and shook her arm. "I haven't eaten any Chinese food since I came here. I miss Chinese food so much. I'm almost sick of the food here."
Although the United States is quite powerful in terms of economy and strength, the food is too monotonous. In just a few days, people have gone from being interested to being tired of it.
Qi Jiu nodded. "Let's go. There shouldn't be any more matches this afternoon, right?"
Seeing everyone shake their heads, they began to follow her and slowly leave the school.
Along the way, everyone watched as she navigated every path with ease, even greeting the director of Erlin University. Finally, someone couldn't hold back any longer.
"Have you been here before?" Chang Xiaoyuan quickened his pace and caught up with Qi Jiu.
To his surprise, the other person paused, then looked at him and smiled. "I thought you guys had already guessed it."
If they were strangers, how could they possibly know so many people at Erling University? They even know the university's president and vice-president.
Chang Xiaoyuan choked, then pursed his lips. "Isn't it because I didn't dare to guess before?"
What about Ruoruo?
"They're already waiting at the Chinese restaurant."
After leaving Erlin University, Qi Jiu kept a closer eye on them. Robberies do happen on the main streets, and since it was their first time leaving campus, they were probably quite interested.
Just as she expected.
Yu Qi and Chang Xiaoyuan completely let loose, running around like little bees, looking here and there.
The girl glanced at the traffic light in front of her, then turned around. "You two, don't wander off. Keep an eye on your surroundings."
These two idiots look like they just arrived, and with their Asian features, they're bound to attract the attention of those with malicious intentions.
Even many locals were stunned by their appearance.
As soon as he finished speaking, the two of them let out a "whoosh" and immediately returned.
"You two, this isn't China after all, so be careful." In just a short while, An Ran noticed many unsavory gazes from the side.
If Qi Jiu hadn't glared back, they probably would have already taken action.
Following the girl's footsteps, the group soon arrived at the restaurant that Qi Jiu had mentioned. The storefront was neither particularly large nor small, but it was already full of people.
Just thinking about it makes it clear how popular this restaurant must be, and how much money it can make in a day is simply unimaginable.
"Oh my god, I smell the scent of home."
These days it's either steak, bread, pizza, or salad; even the cheese is getting a bit greasy. Heaven knows how much she misses the hot pot, stir-fries, and spicy hot pot from back home.
Yu Qi raised her hand to wipe away the non-existent drool from the corner of her mouth, her face full of longing.
"Let's go, our hometown is calling us."
Qi Jiu reached out and patted Yu Qi's head before walking straight in, watching as Leng Ruo had already begun studying the menu.
"Seven!"
Before the group even reached Leng Ruo's position, they saw an Asian man walking towards them with a smile.
The next second, he bumped fists with the girl like a good buddy.
"If you don't come to the US soon, I'm going to come to China to find you." The man was dressed casually, but judging from his appearance, he seemed to be the owner of the restaurant.
When the waiters around him saw him, they would subconsciously become a little reserved.
The girl smiled. "I've studied so many cuisines. I brought my Chinese friends here, and we haven't had Chinese food in a long time. We're quite picky eaters. If your food isn't good, I won't pay."
"Don't worry about that. The kitchen staff are all Chinese now, so we guarantee authenticity from the inside out. Besides, why would we let you spend money?"
Once seated, Qi Jiu handed the menu to the people next to her, saying, "Order whatever you want; the food here is pretty good."
She's not picky about food. She can eat anything—sour, sweet, bitter, spicy, and salty—she has no dietary restrictions.
Yu Qi glanced at the other customers in the restaurant and nodded. "To be honest, it seems like a Chinese restaurant would be quite popular here."
If a hot pot restaurant could be opened here, wouldn't it be packed with people?
The restaurant is now frequented by both Asian and Western customers, and it's doing very well.
Qi Jiu nodded. "Aside from being a bit difficult at the beginning, it went much smoother after that."
With today's advanced technology, there are bound to be many Chinese people like them in the United States, whether they are working or studying.
In addition, the fact that these foreigners had never tried Chinese food before, along with the novel dishes and tableware, also attracted many people.
"Was it difficult at first?"
An Ran grasped the key point and looked at the restaurant's decor, which was already quite high-end.
“Yes.” Qi Jiu and the others sat by the glass wall, watching the endless stream of vehicles and various passersby outside, and smiled.
"Foreigners' tastes are ultimately different from those of Chinese people, and there are many dishes they can't accept. So the initial losses will be relatively large. It will take some time to figure out what foreigners like to eat."
Just like eating Thai food in China, some flavors are simply not suitable.
"Fortunately, we've overcome that now."
"To be honest, I still want to thank you. If it weren't for your investment, this store wouldn't be able to open now."
While they were chatting, the man from before brought over the dishes himself. "I remember you like sweet food. You should be used to sweet and sour pork ribs. Try this Jiangnan sweet and sour pork ribs. You'll like it."
