Chapter 1 China

"What about the target?"

A cool, clear voice came through the headset.

Bathed in moonlight, a tall, slender figure stood in the office. Her tight-fitting night clothes accentuated her shapely figure. Although her face was obscured, her eyes shone brightly.

She lowered her eyes, looking at the middle-aged man on the ground, bleeding profusely, his eyes wide open, already dead, and a smile appeared on her lips.

"Dead."

"It's you again! The person that Lao San couldn't handle for two days, you solved in one go!"

"Hey! What do you mean by that? That was an accident! You..." At that moment, another voice came through the earpiece.

Qi Jiu didn't have time to pay attention to them, letting the two of them make noise in their headsets. She bent down and started searching in front of her desk until she saw a blank file without any markings or text.

Qi Jiu held it in her hand, examined it twice, and finally a smug smile appeared on her lips.

"This is it."

"Found it?"

The headset had fallen silent at some point, and Lin Chuan couldn't help but raise his voice as he listened to Qi Jiu's murmured three words.

"Um."

Qi Jiu left the office and looked at the corpses lying haphazardly in the corridor, along with shards of glass scattered on the floor. She stepped over one corpse after another with a sense of disgust.

Blood flowed on the ground, but Qi Jiu's eyes remained completely unmoved.

He took two more steps forward and saw a tall, imposing figure before slowly stopping, his eyes filled with wariness.

When did this person appear here?

The person was dressed in black night clothes, just like her, with their face completely covered. The only thing visible was their once most affectionate peach blossom eyes, which now held a cold glint.

The person opposite her changed their expression when they saw what was in her hand.

Upon seeing this, Qi Jiu pursed her pink lips beneath her mask.

Looks like this guy came for this too.

Neither of them uttered a word, but both were ready for battle. The fight erupted instantly, and they quickly began grappling. The blank document was passed between them in turn.

You throw a punch, I throw a palm strike; neither of us loses in terms of momentum, and for a moment we can't determine a winner.

"Boom boom boom!"

Suddenly, the noise of a helicopter sounded outside. Seeing this, Qi Jiu deftly drew a dagger from her waist, seized the opportunity, and slashed the man's waist, separating the two instantly.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, she snatched the file, broke through the building's glass in one breath, and jumped straight out of the towering building!

When that person got up again, Qi Jiu was already hanging on the helicopter ladder and far away.

Damn it!

Airport in City A, China.

The little girl sat on a small suitcase, her long legs on either side of it, moving around by wiggling her feet.

Her striking appearance was mostly hidden by sunglasses, revealing only her delicate chin and pink lips.

"I've come to China, so what are you here to pick up?"

She reached out and tossed her long hair, revealing the black Bluetooth earpiece on her ear. The phone she held in her hand was still displaying a call screen.

"No rush, I'll tell you in a couple of days. Have you seen your adoptive parents yet?"

"No, it should be soon. Since you don't want to talk about it, I'll hang up now."

Without saying much or waiting for any reaction from the other end, she hung up the phone with a "beep".

The other end of the phone: "..."

"Foster father...foster mother?"

The little girl muttered to herself, the curve of her lips becoming increasingly eerie.

She pushed up her sunglasses, which were about to slip off her face, and slowly walked out of the station exit.

There were many people exiting the station. Someone pushed and jostled, causing the little girl sitting on her suitcase to stumble, and her sunglasses fell off.

"Feel sorry."

Just as she was about to bend down to pick up the sunglasses, a deep voice sounded above her head.

Qi Jiu watched his retreating figure, her eyes slightly narrowed.

Have I seen too many people like this? This back view seems vaguely familiar…

While she was distracted, most of the people in the station had left. She then picked up the sunglasses from the ground, ran her fingers over the 'G' on the edge of the frame, and put them back on her face.

At the arrival gate, there was only one couple left, and their attire stood out from the others.

He was also holding a sign that read: 79

Qi Jiu: "??"

79\u003d柒玖? ?

"Qiqi!"

The woman waved at her, and Qi Jiu then straightened her legs and went over.

On the other side, a young man wearing a brown suit had slightly curly hair that looked messy but not sloppy. He had delicate and harmless features, and there was always an air of frivolousness surrounding him.

He frowned as he watched the person with a dark expression slam the car door shut.

"Brother, what happened? I heard you were injured? Someone could hurt you? Who is this person?"

The person in the back seat took off their sunglasses and mask, revealing sharp eyebrows and a straight nose. They looked up, their eyes filled with coldness.

"I don't know, don't worry, it's just a superficial injury."

I don't know what that person's background is, but he's very cunning.

Qi Silin's brows remained furrowed as he subconsciously looked out the window, but he paused as soon as he turned his head.

"Are they relatives of the Shen family?"

Isn't this the person he just bumped into?

Chongyu followed his gaze and shook his head. "I've never heard of such a person, but that girl is quite pretty."

Shen Family Manor.

After being introduced by Mr. and Mrs. Shen, Qi Jiu learned that she had two older brothers and a younger sister.

My younger sister is in high school, my older brother works at a company, and my second older brother is in university.

"Qiqi, I wonder how far you've progressed in your studies?" Shen Ting placed the freshly cut fruit in front of her.

Actually, when he was planning to adopt Qi Jiu, he had inquired about this, but the orphanage said they didn't know either.

"I used to live abroad, and now I've almost finished learning all the high school knowledge. I can take the college entrance exam directly this year."

Actually, it's okay if they don't take the college entrance exam, but I'm afraid of scaring them if I tell them the truth.

Liu Li, Qi Jiu's nominal mother, looked incredulous.

"Qiqi is only one year older than Sisi. Sisi is still in her first year of high school, and Qiqi is about to go to university?"

Qi Jiu nodded, "I was a bit smarter before, so I skipped a grade."

"Mom and Dad, I'm home!" The door to the living room opened, and a little girl in a school uniform with her hair in a ponytail walked in.

The girl, who had been smiling innocently, slowly lowered the corners of her mouth when her gaze fell on Qi Jiu, and her eyes revealed undisguised amazement.

"This is...my older sister?"

Chen Sisi gripped the strap of her backpack, looked at Qi Jiu, and felt her face flush.

She's so beautiful. Even without makeup, her features are like a work of art. Everyone says she's beautiful, but she feels inferior to the person in front of her.
