Chapter 309 Love at First Sight

Zhu Jinzhao held up her phone and waved it in front of Shi Jing: "I just looked it up on Baidu."

“…Oh.” Shi Jing lowered his head guiltily.

Zhu Jinzhao put away her phone, looked at him expressionlessly, and interrogated him directly: "Why did you lie? Why were you following me?"

"...I didn't...were they following me, did they?" Shi Jing muttered under his breath, picking at his fingers. "It really was just a coincidence..."

"Coincidence?" Zhu Jinzhao laughed. "Shiyun Group is located in the southern part of the capital, more than 100 kilometers away from the Zhu family. Where do you get so many coincidences that you can run into me every now and then?"

"..." Shi Jing dared not speak.

"Speak!" Zhu Jinchao frowned, her tone instantly turning fierce. "Why were you following me? Did Zhu Mingyue send you to get close to me?"

"...Huh?" Shi Jing looked up at her, somewhat puzzled. "Zhu Mingyue? The younger sister the Zhu family just found?"

Zhu Jinzhao: "Yeah, besides her, who else would be so 'concerned' about my whereabouts?"

"Hmm?" Shi Jing sensed a hint of sarcasm in her words. He originally wanted to ask her more details, but considering that Zhu Jinzhao was not very familiar with him, it would be impolite for him to pry into her family affairs. So he temporarily skipped the topic.

"I've only heard of Zhu Mingyue, but I don't know her at all. Although she is the true daughter of the Zhu family, she can't possibly get me, Shi Jing, to come."

Shi Jing spoke very bluntly, his words carrying a clear air of arrogance, behaving like a cool and aloof young master.

Zhu Jinzhao raised an eyebrow, but surprisingly, he didn't believe him. Someone of his status and family background certainly had the right to look down on Zhu Mingyue.

But since he looks down on Zhu Mingyue, he should also look down on her.

She slightly suppressed her hostility, her gaze towards Shi Jing turning serious and somewhat cold: "Since it has nothing to do with Zhu Mingyue, then why did you follow me?"

Shi Jing blinked, his arrogance unconsciously lessening slightly: "I wasn't actually following you. I just wanted to see you more often."

"See me?" Zhu Jinzhao didn't understand. "Why? What's so special about me that I need to see you?"

Shi Jing didn't answer, but asked with expectant eyes, "Jin Zhao, do you remember that you went to a shopping mall in the eastern suburbs of the capital a month ago?"

“A month ago? The eastern suburbs of the capital…” Zhu Jinchao frowned, thought carefully, “It seems that I did go there.”

At that time, she had just finished arguing with the three brothers of the Zhu family. Jiang Jingwen saw that she was in a bad mood, so she drove her to the eastern suburbs to relax. Then in the afternoon, they randomly found a shopping mall in the eastern suburbs to have lunch.

"I did go there, why are you suddenly asking this?"

Shi Jing turned to the side, looking at her expectantly: "Do you remember when you were eating at the mall, you helped a waiter out of an awkward situation?"

"I remember." Zhu Jinzhao remembers this very clearly.

The dishes she and Jiang Jingwen ordered had just been served and they hadn't even had a chance to pick them up when a fierce curse suddenly came from next door.

"Are you blind? You useless piece of trash, you can't even hold a bowl of soup properly!"

"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to, I really didn't mean to..."

What followed was a humble and hurried apology.

Upon hearing this, Zhu Jinchao subconsciously stood up from his chair and turned to look in the direction from which the argument was coming.

The incident happened at the table next to theirs, when a waitress accidentally spilled soup on a male customer's clothes while serving the food.

The male customer was very angry and immediately started swearing at the waitress, cursing her father and then her mother, and even pointing his finger at her and making personal attacks.

"You can't even be a proper waiter, why don't you just go out and sell yourself? Selling yourself is more suited to you!"

"You filthy bitch, what's the difference between you and trash? Other people serve food with their hands, you serve food with your ass!"

"All she does is wiggle and flirt, she doesn't know how to do anything serious!"

"...You can curse at me? But please don't insult me, okay?" The waiter couldn't take it anymore and finally mustered the courage to retort to the man in front of him.

When the man saw that she dared to resist, his emotions flared up immediately.

"Bang!"

He slammed his hand on the table, pointed his finger at the waiter's nose, and spat in the waiter's face: "You ass seller, have I been giving you any face?"

Shut your stinking mouth!

Zhu Jinzhao stepped forward at this critical moment.

She had more or less understood the whole story. The waiter hadn't done anything wrong; it was the man who was deaf and blind.

"The waiter kept shouting 'There's hot soup, watch out behind you, be careful not to get burned' while serving the food. You just didn't hear their warnings, so you deserved to get burned, didn't you?"

"Besides, the waiter walked right up from the opposite side of you. Didn't you even look up at the person in front of you before you stood up?"

"...Where the hell did you come from?" The man turned to look at Zhu Jinzhao and immediately shifted the blame onto her.

But she remained calm and first tried to reason with the man, but when she realized that she couldn't get through to him, she simply started cursing.

However, her insults didn't contain any profanity, leaving the man completely bewildered and utterly clueless about her meaning.

Later, the restaurant manager stepped in and resolved the matter. Zhu Jinzhao stood by the side the whole time, making sure that the waiter was not punished in any way before he felt relieved and went back to eat.

“I was in that restaurant at the time, and I saw the whole thing when you were yelling at that man.” Shi Jing looked at Zhu Jinzhao intently, her eyes full of admiration and surprise.

"You're the most handsome girl I've ever met, and I really wanted to get to know you. When you walked back to the table and passed by me, I even gave you a thumbs up! But I don't know if you saw it."

“I saw it,” Zhu Jinzhao said. “I saw a boy give me a thumbs up, but I don’t remember what he looked like.”

“…Okay.” Shi Jing lowered her eyes in disappointment. “That boy was actually me. I think you are very charming and attractive, so I asked someone to find out about you and wanted to get to know you.”

"Is it really that simple?" Zhu Jinzhao was a little skeptical.

Shi Jing looked up at her and was stunned by her overly clear eyes, so he couldn't help but tell the truth.

"Okay, I admit it, I had a bit of a love-at-first-sight feeling for you..."

"Love at first sight?" This phrase is too dreamy, and Zhu Jinzhao's subconscious reaction upon hearing it was disbelief.

"Shi Jing, did you fall in love with me at first sight?"

"Yes!" Shi Jing admitted frankly, "I fell in love with you at first sight, I really like you a little."

"..." Zhu Jinzhao was even less convinced.

“Sigh…” She sighed helplessly and slowly got up from the bench. “Shi Jing, I’m not some naive girl who’s not experienced in the ways of the world, and I won’t be deceived by your sweet words.”

"You should change your target."

After saying that, Zhu Jinzhao left, leaving Shi Jing sitting alone on the bench, looking foolish.
