“…Xiao Jiang!” Li Weiwan’s expression changed instantly.
"Quick, stop her!" He threw away his glasses and strode after her. "Jiang Jingwen, calm down, don't act impulsively!"
Jiang Jingwen stood by Zhu Xingye's bedside, knife in hand. Hearing this, she smiled sinisterly: "Don't worry, I won't impulsively kill him before he reveals Chaochao's whereabouts."
As she spoke, she slowly raised the short knife in her hand to her eyes and examined it carefully: "Although I hate him, I'm not stupid enough to trade my life for his. Chaochao is still in his hands. I won't touch him unless he speaks up."
"Then, what are you doing with the knife?" Kobayashi asked nervously, sweat beading on his forehead.
"Hmph," Jiang Jingwen sneered, holding the knife directly to Zhu Xingye's neck. "What else can I do but threaten him, of course."
“…You can threaten him, but never actually lay a hand on him.” Li Weiwan carefully walked to her side and put her hand on her shoulder. “Whether he reveals Chaochao’s whereabouts or not, don’t touch him.”
"..." Jiang Jingwen didn't say anything, but she silently rolled her eyes.
Li Weiwan knew that she had agreed, so she slowly withdrew her hand.
Just then, Time Mirror's shouts suddenly came from the laboratory outside.
"Li Weiwan? Jiang Jingwen? Where did you go?"
Why did you leave me here all alone?
Xiao Lin: "Brother Li, Shi Jing is awake!"
Li Weiwan's face darkened, and she immediately turned and walked out of the room. Xiao Lin subconsciously wanted to follow her out, but Li Weiwan stopped her.
"You stay here with Xiao Jiang, I'm going to see Shi Jing."
Xiao Lin was stunned for a moment, then realized what Li Weiwan meant.
"Okay." He nodded. "Then you go ahead, Brother Li. I'll stay here with Xiao Jiang."
Li Weiwan hummed in agreement and strode out, replying to Shi Jing, "Shi Jing, I'm here."
Shi Jing, with messy hair and a sour face, walked towards Li Weiwan: "Didn't you say you were going to catch Zhu Xingye? How did you end up here?"
As he spoke, Shi Jing looked around Li Weiwan's laboratory: "Is this your laboratory?"
"Huh?" Li Weiwan was stunned by his question. "What...what did you say?"
After regaining consciousness, Shi Jing felt dizzy and unwell, and her speech was not very patient: "I said, is this your laboratory? Why did you bring me here?"
"Where's Zhu Xingye? Did you catch him?"
“…No,” Li Weiwan scratched her hair, her brows furrowing into a deep frown, “Shi Jing, do you know what you’re asking?”
"..." Shi Jing looked at him, puzzled. "Of course I know."
"You know this and you still ask? Is this the time to ask this?" Li Weiwan didn't understand.
Shi Jing: "How is it not the right time? Didn't you say yourself that you were going to arrest Zhu Xingye and interrogate him about Chaochao's whereabouts?"
Li Weiwan: "I did say that, but now that you've regained your memories, shouldn't you ask some other questions first?"
"Restore memories?" Shi Jing asked, his face full of confusion. "Restore what memories? Who restores memories?"
Li Weiwan's eyes widened: "Of course it's you!"
"Me?" Shi Jing was even more confused. "What memories do I need to recover? I haven't lost my memory. Li Weiwan, do you want to listen to what you're saying? Isn't Zhu Xingye the only one who needs to recover his memories?"
"Huh?" Now it was Li Weiwan's turn to be confused. He stared at Shi Jing in shock and confusion, looking the person in front of him up and down several times, before finally realizing what was going on.
"Shi Jing, do you... do you still remember our experiment?" he asked tentatively.
"What experiment?" Shi Jing's expression was blank and bewildered.
Li Weiwan immediately understood what was going on.
"Hiss..." He put his hands on his hips, not understanding how such an accident could have happened. Everyone else had regained their memories of their past lives, so how come only Shi Jing missed it?
"Brother Li, what's wrong?" Xiao Lin and Jiang Jingwen both poked their heads out of the room at the same time.
Li pointed at Shi Jing: "He hasn't regained his memory yet."
"Huh?" Jiang Jingwen exclaimed in surprise, "How could this be?"
Li Weiwan shrugged helplessly: "I don't know why this happened, anyway, he just hasn't recovered."
"What will happen if it doesn't recover?" Jiang Jingwen asked with some concern.
“…Probably not.” Li Weiwan crossed her arms. “But…”
Where is this?
Zhu Xingye's voice suddenly rang out in the office.
Jiang Jingwen froze, and almost instinctively grabbed the knife and ran back, holding the blade to Zhu Xingye's neck.
"Where is Chaochao?" She didn't waste any more words with Zhu Xingye and asked directly.
Zhu Xingye stared at her with a sinister look in his eyes, without answering.
"Speak!" Jiang Jingwen tightened her grip, causing the blade to dig into Zhu Xingye's flesh. "Where did you lock Chaochao up?!"
Zhu Xingye's expression was grim, yet he still refused to answer Jiang Jingwen's question. He glanced around, scrutinizing each person in the room, before asking again, "Where is this? Why am I here? How can I have two completely different memories in my mind?"
Li Wei stepped forward: "Zhu Xingye, you..."
"Big brother?"
Just as Li Weiwan was about to explain, Zhu Mingyue in the next bed woke up.
She slowly sat up, supporting herself on the bed frame, her bewildered eyes revealing a hint of panic.
"Mingyue?" Zhu Xingye lost his composure the moment he saw her. He slapped the knife off his neck and tried to get out of bed, but Jiang Jingwen pushed the knife back to him the next second.
"Don't move! If you move again, I'll kill you!"
The sharp blade had already cut through his skin, and Zhu Xingye could clearly feel a chill running down his neck.
Jiang Jingwen was serious about it.
He raised his eyes and glared fiercely at Jiang Jingwen, his face as black as charcoal.
Zhu Mingyue, in the next bed, watched all this, but remained stunned and unresponsive.
She had just regained consciousness, and two conflicting memories were still battling within her mind. One moment she was shocked by her own ruthlessness, the next she was astonished that she could actually like Zhu Jinzhao. A little while later, she began to hate Zhu Jinzhao for taking over her life.
Her mind felt like it had been sliced into several pieces, each piece filled with conflicting and intense emotions. She passively endured it all, feeling as if her head was about to burst at any moment.
"Mingyue," Zhu Xingye looked at her with concern, "How are you? Are you alright?"
Zhu Mingyue looked up at the sound, and the moment their eyes met, a jumble of chaotic memories flooded her mind.
Those memories were a jumbled mess, sometimes hatred, sometimes attachment, and sometimes twisted obsession.
"Ah!" She clutched her head in pain and asked in a cold voice, "What did you do to me?"
