"It hurts." Zhu Jinzhao didn't want to lie to him. "Shi Jing, my hand hurts a lot. Please take me away."
"Okay." Shi Jing nodded, hot tears dripping continuously onto Zhu Jinzhao's hand. "I'll take you away, I'll take you away right now."
He carefully took Zhu Jinzhao's hand and placed her in Jiang Jingwen's arms. "You two get in the car and wait for me. I'm going to say a few words to Deng Yingke."
"Mmm." Zhu Jinzhao looked at him with teary eyes. He felt a pang of heartache. He was about to leave, but he turned back and kissed Zhu Jinzhao on the lips.
"Wait for me, I'll be right back."
Wishing you well today.
Shi Jing gently touched her face, but his expression changed instantly after he turned around.
He said he was going to say a few words to Deng Yingke, but he kept his mouth shut and didn't say a word until he stood in front of Deng Yingke.
Sitting in the car, Deng Yingke looked at him, puzzled, and asked somewhat nervously, "Is something wrong?"
Shi Jing didn't say anything, but bent down and climbed into the car. He grabbed Deng Yingke by the collar and punched him twice in the face without saying a word.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
The hard knuckles collided with his cheekbone, and after two punches, Deng Yingke's cheek was covered in blood. But he looked blank, completely bewildered as to why he had been hit.
"Zhu Xingye clearly didn't contact you, so why did you suddenly decide to send Chaochao down the mountain?" Shi Jing stared at him with red eyes and asked in a cold voice.
He lowered his eyes guiltily and didn't dare to answer.
Shi Jing then asked, "Why is Chaochao holding a kitchen knife out of the blue? And why is there so much blood on her left hand?"
"..." Deng Yingke still didn't dare to answer.
Shi Jing had no intention of listening to his answer. The fact that he could ask these questions proved that he had already roughly guessed the truth of the matter.
He released Deng Yingke's collar, tossed him back into his seat, then glanced down at him and said indifferently, "Deng Yingke, right? I'll remember your name. If you ever find yourself unable to make it in the capital, remember that it was Shi Jing who did it."
After saying that, Shi Jing got out of the car and jogged back to Zhu Jinzhao's side.
"Don't be afraid, Chaochao. I'll take you to the hospital right now, and then we'll go home! From now on, no one, whether it's Zhu Xingye or anyone else, will ever hurt you again."
"Mmm!" Zhu Jinzhao threw down the kitchen knife in her hand and threw herself into Shi Jing's arms.
Shi Jing held her tightly and kissed her hair tenderly: "Chao Chao, don't cry, I'll take you away now."
Although his car wasn't parked far away, he still chose to carry Zhu Jinzhao over.
Jiang Jingwen opened the back door in advance: "Let's put Chaochao in the back. The back seat is spacious, so she can lie down for a bit."
Shi Jing: "Okay."
He carefully placed Zhu Jinzhao in the back seat, then quickly ran to the front to drive.
Jiang Jingwen followed closely behind and sat down, tightly covering Zhu Jinzhao's still bleeding wrist with both hands.
"Jiang Jiang." Zhu Jinzhao looked up at her, gently stroked her gray hair with his uninjured hand, and then placed his palm on her wrinkled cheek.
"Are you stupid? Why did you get yourself into this state for me?"
Jiang Jingwen looked at her and smiled: "It's my choice, what's it to you?"
"It's none of my business..." Zhu Jinzhao sighed helplessly, "You've become like this, how can I possibly manage you?"
Jiang Jingwen took her hand down and held it firmly in her palm.
"Chaochao, have you remembered everything?"
Jiang Jingwen asked this question in a very low voice, intentionally not wanting Shi Jing to hear it.
Zhu Jinzhao blinked and answered her in the same voice, "I remember everything, and I know what you and Shi Jing did to save me."
Jiang Jingwen: "You knew about Jing's condition back then?"
Zhu Jinzhao: "...I know. But he himself doesn't seem to be clear about it."
“He really doesn’t know.” Jiang Jingwen frowned, her eyes filled with pity. “Something went wrong with Li Weiwan’s experiment. Everyone else regained their memories, except for Shi Jing. He doesn’t know he’s about to…”
The word "death" was too cruel for Jiang Jingwen to say.
Zhu Jinzhao forced a smile and said, "It's better not to know. At least he can spend the rest of his time happily."
"...And what about you?" Jiang Jingwen held Zhu Jinzhao's hand tightly and asked carefully, "Zhaozhao, can you get through this?"
"Of course I can." Zhu Jinzhao blinked hard, squeezing out the tears that were welling up in her eyes. "Shi Jing risked his life to give me a chance to be reborn. Why shouldn't I be able to overcome it? Why shouldn't I cherish it?"
"Even for his sake, I will live on."
“…Okay.” Jiang Jingwen patted the back of her hand and took a deep breath. “It’s good that you understand this. As long as you are willing to live, all the sacrifices that Shi Jing and I made will be worthwhile.”
"What are you talking about?" Shi Jing glanced at them in the rearview mirror, wondering why they were speaking so quietly.
"We didn't talk about much." Jiang Jingwen helped Zhu Jinzhao fix her hair, then pressed her head down so she could lean against her comfortably.
“I told Chaochao that Zhu Xingye and Zhu Mingyue have been locked up by Brother Li. Brother Li will only release them once you two successfully leave the capital.”
"Yes." Shi Jing had no doubts and only focused on comforting Zhu Jinzhao, "Zhaozhao, what Xiao Jiang said is true. Zhu Xingye has been detained in the laboratory by Brother Li. He won't be able to get out until we leave the capital."
"But I'm not sure why Zhu Mingyue is also being detained."
"It's alright." Zhu Jinzhao smiled at him. "Anyway, Brother Li won't hurt her. Let him keep holding her. I don't want to get involved in her for now."
"Okay." Shi Jing listened to her.
Yunmang Mountain Villa is not far from the hospital, and Shi Jing drove very fast. In less than half an hour, the black Audi stopped at the hospital entrance.
Zhu Jinzhao lost too much blood and was already somewhat disoriented when she got out of the car. Shi Jing carried her into the emergency room.
She was too ruthless to herself; the cut on her wrist required eight stitches.
Fortunately, they arrived quickly enough that Zhu Jinchao was able to walk on her own after resting in the hospital for a few hours following the stitches.
Shi Jing and Jiang Jingwen helped her onto the car, one on each side.
"Are you hungry, my little one?" Shi Jing gently cupped Zhu Jinzhao's face and asked softly.
Zhu Jinzhao nodded and said softly, "I'm hungry, let's go home for dinner."
Shi Jing: "Okay, I'll take Guai Guai home for dinner now. What would Guai Guai like to eat? I'll have the housekeeper prepare it in advance."
Zhu Jinzhao took his hand and said, "As long as I can be with you, I'm happy no matter what I eat."
"Hmph," Shi Jing curled his lips, a smile finally appearing on his face, "Silly girl, I'll always be there for you from now on."
"Mmm!" Zhu Jinzhao smiled at him with her eyes crinkling, as if they really had a future together.
"By the way, Shi Jing, could you take me to buy a cell phone? Zhu Xingye took my cell phone."
