Chapter 292 Wounded

"Zhu Jinzhao, have I spoiled you too much?"

Zhu Xingye looked at the ceramic shards scattered on the ground, his temples throbbing with anger.

Zhu Jinzhao ruined a bowl of steaming hot porridge, scalding the porridge all over Zhu Xingye's body, making his pajamas look disgusting and messy.

Zhu Xingye tugged at the collar of his pajamas, trying to pull the fabric away from his skin and get the scalding porridge further away from his chest and abdomen. But the porridge had already soaked through the thin fabric, leaving a sticky residue on his skin. Even after tearing his clothes away, the burning sensation on his skin didn't lessen in the slightest.

"Huff..." He gasped for breath, his head aching, and looked up, glaring angrily at Zhu Jinzhao.

When Zhu Jinzhao realized she had injured him, her arrogant demeanor instantly vanished by half. She guiltily averted her gaze, not daring to look at Zhu Xingye. The blanket she had thrown aside earlier was now picked up again and used to firmly shield her in front of herself.

When Zhu Xingye saw her cautious demeanor, his anger instantly subsided.

His younger sister, whom he had raised with his own hands, was huddled pitifully in the corner of the bed. How could he bear to lose his temper with her again?

"Sigh..." He sighed helplessly, gently extended his right hand to Zhu Jinchao, and said gently and patiently, "Chaochao, come here."

Zhu Jinchao shook his head: "No."

Although her voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz, her tone was very firm.

Zhu Xingye looked at her gently: "Come here obediently, your big brother won't be angry with you, and he won't be mean to you."

"No." Zhu Jinchao shook her head again.

"Why not?" Zhu Xingye remained patient. "Is it because you made a mistake and are afraid of upsetting your brother? Or is it because you feel guilty for hurting your brother, so you dare not come over?"

“...None of those.” Zhu Jinzhao raised his eyes timidly and glanced at Zhu Xingye.

Zhu Xingye's face had lost its anger, clearly indicating he was no longer angry with her. However, his expression was still somewhat sour, and he still looked a little intimidating.

But that didn't stop Zhu Jinzhao from continuing to annoy him.

“I’m not coming over because I don’t want to be near you, I don’t want to be too close to you.” She wouldn’t back down, and spoke her mind without hesitation: “Get out of here right now, I don’t want to see you again, and I don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore.”

"..."

The gentle expression on Zhu Xingye's face vanished instantly.

Zhu Jinchao is always like this; he can soften his heart with just one expression, or he can enrage him to the point of wanting to explode with just one sentence.

"Zhu Jinzhao, do you have to talk to me like this?"

Zhu Jinzhao bit her lip: "You forced me to do this!"

"...I forced you?" Zhu Xingye stood up from the bedside, frowning as he stared intently at the person on the bed. "Zhu Jinzhao, if I forced you, didn't you force me too?"

"You haven't eaten or drunk anything since you arrived here! What, are you trying to threaten me with a hunger strike?"

"I'm not threatening you!" Zhu Jinzhao stared with bloodshot eyes, saying resolutely and ruthlessly, "I'm not eating or drinking, I just want to die."

Zhu Xingye: "You—"

"If you want to trap me for the rest of my life, I'd rather die!" Zhu Jinzhao said through gritted teeth. "Zhu Xingye, I'd rather die than bear the stigma of having an affair with you!"

"Trying to force me to compromise? Forget about it!"

Zhu Xingye's patience was completely exhausted by her.

"Heh..." He gritted his teeth and let out a sinister laugh. "Want to die? Not so easy!"

"..."

Zhu Jinzhao didn't respond to him, but instead glared at him fiercely, unwilling to back down.

He reached up and grabbed a handful of his hair, then suddenly knelt on the bed and menacingly approached Zhu Jinzhao.

As soon as the alarm blared, Zhu Xingye almost instinctively turned to run. But he was a second too late.

Zhu Xingye reached out and grabbed her shoulder, pulling her close and dragging her towards the bed.

"Aunt Fang, go and bring her another bowl of porridge. She has to eat it today, whether she likes it or not!"

Aunt Fang replied "Yes," then turned and left the room.

"I won't eat it! I'd rather die than eat it!" Zhu Jinzhao struggled with all her might, scratching at Zhu Xingye's arm with her hands and kicking at Zhu Xingye's thighs and abdomen with her feet.

Zhu Xingye gritted his teeth and endured it, thus catching the struggling Zhu Jinzhao by the bedside and forcing her to sit up.

"Get out!" She slapped Zhu Xingye's hands away, her long hair disheveled like that of a mentally unstable madwoman. "I won't eat your food, I'd rather die than eat it! If you dare to bring it over, I'll smash it again!"

Zhu Xingye pressed down hard on her shoulders: "I'll serve you one bowl for every bowl you smash! Aunt Fang, prepare fifty bowls of porridge for me! Let's see how many she can smash!"

"Fifty bowls..." Aunt Fang was startled by the number. But after thinking about it carefully, she felt that Zhu Xingye was more frightening, so she obediently replied, "Okay, Mr. Zhu, I'll go prepare it right away."

"Aaaaaah!!!!" Zhu Jinzhao screamed in despair.

Zhu Xingye gritted his teeth and laughed fiercely: "Go ahead and yell, you'll get tired and need to eat more!"

"I don't want to!" Zhu Jinzhao pushed his hand away and tried to run out barefoot. But the broken pieces of porcelain on the ground hadn't been cleaned up yet, and if she stepped on them, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Zhu Xingye's brow twitched, and he quickly reached out to grab her and try to pull her back. However, because the porridge on the floor was too slippery and she wasn't wearing shoes, Zhu Xingye only pulled her slightly before she slipped and fell forward!

"Chao Chao!" Zhu Xingye's heart jumped into his throat.

He instinctively reached out to pull Zhu Jinchao back, but Zhu Jinchao fell too fast, and his hand only managed to touch a stray strand of her hair.

"Smack!"

With a dull thud, Zhu Jinzhao fell to the ground in a disheveled state.

Immediately afterwards, a piercing scream rang in Zhu Xingye's ears.

"ah!!!"

Zhu Jinzhao fell too hard and, unsurprisingly, landed on a pile of broken porcelain shards.

Sharp shards of porcelain mercilessly pierced her palms and arms, and in the blink of an eye, several streams of blood flowed from her fair skin.

"...Chao Chao!!"

Zhu Xingye panicked immediately.

He rushed over in a flurry and picked up Zhu Jinzhao, who was lying on the ground. Zhu Jinzhao's hands were covered in cuts from the porcelain shards, and blood was flowing out of her hands like it was free.

Zhu Xingye stood helplessly in front of her, holding her blood-stained hands in his palms, almost crying with anxiety.

"Chaochao, I'm so sorry, I'm really sorry, Big Brother didn't mean it!"

Zhu Jinzhao stared at him with wide eyes, her panic and fear making her completely oblivious to the pain in her wounds.

She stared at Zhu Xingye's hypocritical face, then suddenly flung his hand away and slapped him across the face.

"Smack!"

A sharp, crisp sound pierced their eardrums.
