Chapter 53 Bai Lao Er's Own Retribution

"Mr. Bai, what brings you here?" Several shareholders stood up and greeted him politely with smiles.

The old man nodded, ignoring Bai Lao Er's obsequious cries, and walked straight to Bai's father.

Mr. Bai also stood up and gave up his seat.

Although the old man no longer owns any shares, he is still his father after all.

"I'm here mainly to announce something."

Bai Lao Er looked at his father excitedly. He knew that the old man would not let Bai's father succeed. This Bai family would definitely be his world in the future.

But his wishful thinking was clearly going to fail, because the old man continued:

"Our Bai family has only one heir, and that is my eldest son. I believe that the future of our Bai family will definitely get better and better in his hands!"

Everyone applauded, but Bai Lao Er was dumbfounded.

The old man finally deigned to look at his second son, then sighed silently and said:

"Second brother, you don't need to come to Bai's anymore. Consider the five percent I transferred to you as your profit share."

"Why should I! I still have fifteen in my hand!" Old Bai retorted excitedly.

The old man's expression also turned displeased, and his cane thumped loudly on the ground.

"Don't you know what you've been doing outside? Don't you know what that woman you were with a few days ago signed while you were drunk?"

As expected, Bai Lao Er looked completely bewildered after he finished speaking.

The old man was filled with regret when he saw his second son like this. Why did he listen to his mother and think that his second son would be more suitable to manage the Bai family than his eldest son?

Bai Lao Er still looked confused, though he naturally remembered being with that woman that day.

That day, he had just learned that he could rival his older brother, and in his excitement, he went out for a few drinks with some friends. During that time, his friends invited over a few beautiful women.

One of them particularly suited his taste.

Bai Lao Er was very generous when it came to women, usually giving them gifts, especially since the beautiful woman was also in love with him.

But the woman refused the gift he gave her, which made him feel even more that she was his soulmate.

The two continued their date the following day.

Before heading to the hotel, the two went out for a meal. However, after a few drinks, Bai Lao Er started to feel dizzy. At that moment, the woman took out a piece of paper and said that she was having financial difficulties and wanted a house.

In Bai Lao Er's eyes, what was a house? He signed it with a wave of his hand, but at the time he only thought it was a property transfer agreement!

Seeing his second son's expression, the old man was even more furious at his son's lack of ambition, and picked up his cane and smashed it directly on him.

No one dared to stop them.

It was at this moment that Bai Lao Er realized he had been scammed, but what puzzled him was that he hadn't lost anything at all.

"Your wife and daughters have been spending lavishly lately, even buying jewelry worth hundreds of millions. Haven't you asked about any of this?" the old man asked, panting heavily.

Bai Lao Er did know about these things and had seen the jewelry, but his wife always said they weren't expensive, so he didn't ask any questions.

Upon hearing that the amount was several hundred million, they wondered where they got the money.

Seeing his stubbornness, the old man sighed and, not wanting to say anything more, turned his head away and refused to look at him anymore.

Just then, Bai Lao Er's phone rang, and seeing that the old man didn't object, he answered it.

It turned out to be the Public Security Bureau of City A; someone had reported him for owing debts and not paying them back!

As soon as he finished speaking, the conference room door was opened, and a group of people in police uniforms walked in, holding arrest warrants. They gestured to everyone and then took him out.

Bai Lao Er and the others realized what was happening and began to struggle frantically, shouting that they were innocent.

When he went downstairs, he saw that the area was full of reporters, with cameras and microphones snapping pictures of him.

At the same time, the news spread immediately, and Bai Lao Er completely lost the ability to fight against Bai's father.

After the shareholders' meeting, several shareholders left the meeting room one after another, and finally the door was locked, leaving only the old man and Bai's father in the room.

The atmosphere was somewhat quiet, and Bai's father sat in the seat next to the old man without saying a word.

After what seemed like an eternity, the old man slowly spoke:

"I'm old, now it's your turn, young people."

His tone was full of vicissitudes.

He knew that what happened to his second son was not an accident; even if his son was stupid, he wouldn't make such a basic mistake.

The woman made him sign an exorbitant loan agreement and even transferred the money directly to Bai Lian and her daughter's bank accounts.

However, the interest rates on the loans are shockingly high, and it is clearly stated that they are financial loans and will not violate the law.

Looking at his father's exhausted appearance, Bai's father felt a pang of pity in his eyes, but finally answered:

“I will get the second son out of the water, but I won’t kill him. However, he did plot against my daughter, so he still needs to be taught a lesson.”

The old man remained noncommittal; this was already the best possible outcome in this war without smoke.

He didn't want to get involved in how Bai's father would discipline him; the example of the third son was right there, and he no longer had the energy to interfere.

The old man rose unsteadily and walked silently toward the door.

Mr. Bai did not say anything to stop him, but just stared at his father's back.

Meanwhile, Bai Lian and her daughter also received news of Bai Lao Er's arrest, and the two sat on the sofa, filled with anxiety.

"Mom, what should we do? Dad has been arrested, and all the money we spent recently was actually a loan?" Bai Lian couldn't understand why they needed to take out a loan when the family wasn't short of money.

Besides, if she had known it was a loan, she wouldn't have been so extravagant.

Bai Lian's mother was torn between two conflicting thoughts. The best course of action was to sell off the family's belongings to get her husband out of trouble, but looking at the huge diamond ring on her hand, she couldn't bear to part with it.

Even if Bai Lao Er comes out, so what? They'll probably still have nothing.

How can someone who's gotten used to a life of luxury possibly go back to a simple life of coarse food?

Soon, another voice appeared. Bai Lian's mother gritted her teeth and turned her head sharply to look at her daughter.

Bai Lian felt that the light in her mother's eyes was somewhat frightening.

"Pack your things and let's leave!" Bai Lian's mother quickly instructed her daughter.

Bai Lian was shocked. Her father was still in prison, and her mother was actually trying to run away?

Seemingly sensing her daughter's hesitation, Bai Lian's mother continued:

"If you want to live a life without anything in the future, then stay. If not, the jewelry and savings we have left are enough for my daughter and me to live on for the rest of our lives."

Without waiting for Bai Lian's reaction, Bai Lian's mother hurriedly went upstairs.

Bai Lian felt a pang of fear at the thought of the hardship she would face in the future, but in the end, she followed in her mother's footsteps.

Soon the mother and daughter boarded a plane to go abroad. As they watched China recede further and further away, they gradually breathed a sigh of relief.

The two left in a hurry, taking only the card and some jewelry, the most valuable of which was the pigeon egg in Bai Lian's mother's hand.

"Let's pawn this first, then we'll be set for life," said Bai Lian's mother, touching the pigeon egg.
